March 23, 2019 - Texas Onion Fest
Weslaco, Texas
Celebrates the world-famous Texas 1015 Onion developed in Weslaco. There is lots of new stuff to see! On Saturday, the festivities will kick off with live music on two stages and the lively "Onion Eating Contests". The fun will last all day with music performances on the Main Stage, a Kids Zone, two performances by the Dancing Horses, Arts & Crafts, cooking demonstrations at the Culinary Center, and so much more. Viva La Onion!
 

April 5-7, 2019
72nd Annual Poteet Strawberry Festival
Poteet, Texas
One of the oldest, most popular events in the state and is recognized as the largest agricultural festival in Texas.
 

April 26-28, 2019
Chicken Fried Steak Festival & Balloon Rally
Lamesa, Texas
In April 2011, the Texas Legislature declared Lamesa, Texas the "Legendary Home of the Chicken Fried Steak". The City of Lamesa celebrates this declaration each year on the last weekend of April by having a fun-filled weekend and cook-off competition. This year's CFS Festival kicks off on Friday night with a handmade chicken-fried steak dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a roll.   Saturday's Highlight is the Chicken Fried Steak Cookoff Competition.  Contestants start at 10:00 and must turn in their entry by noon to the Judges table. Festival attendees also get to pick their favorite Chicken Fried Steak.  All winners will announced at 3:00pm.  Saturday night the Hot Air Balloons will put on balloon glow and fire concert for spectators in the park.  Vendors and contestants can register online.
