The Alpenrose Schuhplattler Dancers present OKTOBERFEST!  Open to the public - rain or shine!  Lancaster's oldest, traditional Oktoberfest!  A celebration of German food, beer, music, song & dance.  Hours: Fri. 5:30-11 p.m.  Sat. 12:30-11:00 p.m.  Sun. noon-6:00 p.m.  General Admission: Adult - $7   Child age 6-15 - $2   Child 5 & under Free.

September 1-4, 2023 - Texas Potjie Festival - Rusk, Texas
A potjie is a 3 legged cast-iron pot brought to Texas by South African immigrants. The festival celebrates South African heritage and features foods such as boerewors, droerwors, biltong, and koeksusters. Cook-off, cricket match and Afrikaans church service.

September 2, 2023  49th Annual World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off - Brady, Texas
The largest and longest-running of its kind in Texas. With more than 200 team entries each year that draws cookers and visitors from across Texas and beyond each Labor Day Weekend, the event includes not only a cook off, but an arts and crafts fair, children’s games, washer and horseshoe pitching tournaments, and live Texas music.
 


 

September 10, 2023  33rd Annual Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival
Austin, Texas
This event, which began in 1990, has become the world's largest hot sauce festival, drawing as many as 10,000 spectators and more than 350 entries every year. It is a favorite among hot and spicy food lovers from all over the country and is a major fundraiser for the Central Texas Food Bank.  Attendance: 10,000

Three full days of shrimp, music, friends and fun begins on Friday and runs through Sunday.   Event activities include a Shrimp Gumbo Cook-Off, Gumbo Tasting, Free Outdoors Show, Official 5k, Lil' Shrimps Parade, Live Music, Vendors, Kids Area and a Strand Merchant Walk-About! EVENT CANCELED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS.  The festival is a showcase for award winning products such as hot sauce, salsa, marinades, rubs, wing sauce, pickled products, jams/jellies, dips, not to mention Arts & Crafts and more. We have vendors coming from all over the country including, California, Seattle, Ohio, Indiana, Chicago, Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, Texas of course, and Australia! Browse, sample and buy flavorful gourmet products that are mild to hot.  You’ll find products that satisfy your palate…  collectibles…  and, of course, for the brave of heart (or just crazy) super hots – XXX hot!  There’s always plenty of cold beverages and food concessions.  The festival benefits the Snowdrop Foundation who raise money for pediatric cancer patients.  Attendance: 20,000.

Our chefs will be given a theme and tasked with creating a culinary masterpiece to follow suit. From 11a.m. to 3p.m. visitors can watch these artists work, sample their creations and vote for their favorite, plus enter to win lots of great prizes.
