March 13, 2011 Maraton de la Chopax - Toa Alta, Puerto Rico Chopa fishing competition. The chopa is a freshwater fish found at Río La Plata in Toa Alta.

Plantains are starchy banana relatives used for cooking many typical Caribbean dishes. Exhibitions of local produce, dishes made with plantains. Over 60 artisans, crafts, paintings, music and dance.
November 16-18, 2011 Festival de los Platos Tipicos - Luguillo, Puerto Rico A festival highlighting local dishes and beverages made with coconut. Local music, arts and crafts exhibits.
Nov 23-25, 2011 8th National Puerto Rican Pastel Festival - Orocovis, Puerto Rico Culinary festival that honors the folkloric food of the Christmas season: the Puerto Rican Pastel. A three-day expo of a wide variety of pasteles, musical & dance performance, arts and culture. The pastel (similar to, but larger than, a tamale) was originated in the Taíno culture.
November 30-Dec 2, 2011 Carnaval Del Gandul - Villalba, Puerto Rico Annual harvest festival with music, festival queen, parades and food.
December 7-9, 2011 Festival del Macabeo - Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico Macabeo is a local fritter made from bananas. This cultural festival includes typical music, troubadour contests, artisans and food kiosks.

December 2-5, 2010 Old San Juan Sofo Culinary Fest - San Juan, Puerto Rico More than 35 restaurants throughout the historic district take part in the Old San Juan Culinary Fest. In the background, musical and dance groups perform from a dozen stages being set up throughout Old San Juan, and strolling musicians serenade with traditional Island music.
