December 31, 2019 The Great Pinecone Drop - Flagstaff, Arizona As Flagstaff’s traditional New Year’s Eve symbol for years, the Great Pinecone hoisted atop the historic Weatherford Hotel is to Flagstaff what the glitzy giant ball is to New York City. Each year thousands of holiday revelers pour into the streets of historic downtown to see the 70-pound, six-foot, lighted aluminum creation. During the celebration there will be two countdowns and pinecone lowerings: one at 10 p.m. to coincide with New York’s Times Square celebration and another at midnight to mark Arizona’s magical moment. Local personality Joe Harting will lead the crowd in song and countdown as the Weatherford Hotel dazzles with a light show and the City of Flagstaff illuminates the sky with fireworks. The Great Pinecone Drop event is free and appropriate for all ages. RELATED INFORMATION: · Arizona Culinary Schools & Cooking Classes
