September 18-20, 2009 South Carolina Campground Cookoff Calhoun Falls, South Carolina Camping cookoff open to interested amateurs. Two categories: Main Dish and Dessert. $40 entry fee. Recipe must be cooked over a campfire of charcoal or wood. Cash prizes- $500, $300 & $200. A two-night stay at Calhoun Falls state park is required for entry. Two person teams, must be 16 years of age or older to apply.

November 28, 2009 Chitlin' Strut 2009 Salley, South Carolina This internationally known festival in the quiet, southern town of Salley, South Carolina (population is held annually the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Each year approximately 25,000 visitors converge on Salley to celebrate one of the more unusual food items available, chitterlings. Quite simply, chitterlings (or chitlin's) are fried pig intestines and have been a southern tradition for over one-hundred years
