43rd Annual Irmo Okra Strut Festival
Irmo, South Carolina
The festival is now a two day event featuring Okra Strut Parade, okra eating contest, a street dance, arts, crafts, rides, entertainment, and amusements, petting zoo, and plenty of food. See Okra Man in person! The Okra Strut Festival is managed by a board of committee members appointed by the Irmo Town Council and we are proud to say, 'we are the nation's original celebration of Okra.' September 30-October 1, 2016 - Beaufort Shrimp Festival
Beaufort, South Carolina
This two-day festival is a celebration of SC Wild Caught Shrimp, local food and fun in the Lowcountry. "Be ready to dance your shrimp tails off and come with an empty stomach” Local restaurants will put their unique spins on fresh local shrimp, available to attendees, and will compete for the “Best Shrimp Dish" and "Best Booth Decoration" voted by a panel of judges, and the “People’s Choice”, chosen by festival attendees. Alternative foods will be available for the shell-fish intolerant. Also adults will be able to participate in a shrimp heading competition and children in a shrimp peeling competition for various prizes. LIve music.
