Mid-America Alfalfa Expo & Conference

Designed especially for alfalfa producers, livestock/dairy producers and others involved in alfalfa production, purchasing, hay feeding or processing. Two days jam-packed with information, education and innovation—all focused on helping hay and livestock producers improve production, performance and profitability. A trade show featuring some 100 exhibitors and a fundraising auction are included.  Sponsored by the Nebraska Alfalfa Marketing Association (NAMA).

This annual farm event, regarded as one of the largest indoor short line Farm Machinery Shows in the Midwest, is a diversified presentation of agricultural products and services. The timing of the Show, before the planting season and spring fieldwork begin, has been ideal for the Show’s success each year. April 12-26, 2014  Apple Blossom Festival - Nebraska City, Nebraska
The Blossom Festival isn’t a single event as much as it is a month-long celebration of pollen. But in a good way. Featuring such fun as the Arbor Day 5k/10k, Apple Blossom Pageant and Ball, Easter Egg Hunt and, of course, more Arbor Day festivities than you can shake a budding stick at.

 

April 25-27, 2014  Arbor Day Celebration - Nebraska City, Nebraska
One of the original citizens of Nebraska City, J. Sterling Morton (whose son would go on to found the Morton Salt Company) was a famed agriculturalist who would go on to serve as Secretary of Agriculture under President Grover Cleveland. But first, in 1872, Morton founded Arbor Day to encourage individuals, groups and municipalities alike to plant trees. On that first Arbor Day alone, over one million trees were planted in Nebraska. Today, Arbor Day is celebrated worldwide.

Duncan Ribfest is a fundraiser for the Duncan Volunteer Fire Department & the Duncan Wrestling Club. 5 BBQ Companies, Beer Garden and 6 Bands. A Family Affair.

July 11-12, 2014  The Wayne Chicken Show - Wayne, Nebraska
The Chicken Show is a fun event held annually on the second Saturday in July. Worlds Largest Chicken Dance, Egg Roulette, Cement Chicken Auction, Hot Wing Eating Contest, Chicken Parade, Live Rooster Crowing, Chicken Feed, Ice Cream Social, Arts, Crafts Fun and Food.  All things Chicken!

July 18-19, 2014  Riverfest: Red, White & Que - Bellevue, Nebraska
What’s Red,White and Que all over? The Nebraska State BBQ Championship and Music Festival. Now in its 11th year, this is a significant regional event, attracting more than 40,000 people to Bellevue. The schedule includes the BBQ cook off, RiverFest 5K run, Kid Zone, car show, Iron Chef Competition, and live music.
Attendance: 40,000.

July 24-27, 2014  Lemon Days - Nebraska City, Nebraska
Join us for a very refreshing lemonade stand competition where area youth learn about entrepeneurism and small business ownership/operation. This is where we turn lemons into lemonade. And by lemonade we mean bargains. We can’t claim that this is the world’s biggest sidewalk sale, but that’s only because we’re too busy saving money to do the research.

March 2-6, 2015  National School Breakfast Week - Nationwide
National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) was launched in 1989 to raise awareness of the availability of the School Breakfast Program (SBP) to all children.

April 22, 2015  Earth Day - Worldwide
The first Earth Day on April 22, 1970, activated 20 million Americans from all walks of life and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. Growing out of the first Earth Day, Earth Day Network (EDN) works with over 22,000 partners in 192 countries to broaden, diversify and mobilize the environmental movement. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world.
