The 3rd annual Oktoberfest in Kemah is highly anticipated, will be the biggest event this fall, and is going to be a blast! There will an 9,000 Sq. Foot Beer Tent for all to enjoy!!  Partnered with Budweiser, we're bringing in hand-crafted beers from all over the world!

October 10-11, 2015  Craft Beer & Barbecue Festival - Grand Prairie, TX
Traders Village announces the new Craft Beer & Barbecue Festival. This event is going to feature award winning barbecue cooks cooking up some of the best barbecue brisket and ribs on both days. Guest will be able to buy this barbecue AND have a chance to purchase a variety of Craft Beers. Chris Rivers and his country band will perform from 12 noon to 4p.m. each day.  During band breaks the cooks will visit with the audience to provide some tips on what helped them win barbecue cook offs all over Texas and the southwest. This festival will have something for everyone.

An annual event held since 1969, honoring rice farming in the Southeast Texas region around Winnie. Includes a carnival,  two parades, livestock show, longhorn show, open horse show, BBQ cook off, nightly street dances, antique car show, rice cooking contest, pageants, and features food made with rice and flavors of the Cajun culture.

October 2-4, 2014  Boonville Days Chuckwagon Cookoff - Bryan, Texas
The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History.  This event consists of a living history fair, a race, and a Chuck Wagon Cook-Off.

October 4-5, 2014  9th Annual PalmFest International Folklife Celebration
McAllen, Texas
PalmFest will feature major attractions, historical displays, shopping, art, family games, rides and kids activities, cooking competitions and demonstrations, live entertainment, classic car show, diverse food and beverage. October 4-5, 2014  Fajita Cookoff and PalmFest Dutch Oven Cookoff
McAllen, Texas
There will be two Cookoffs at this year’s PalmFest International Folklife Celebration at the McAllen Convention, The Fajita Cookoff, “Smokin’ Since 1976”, will once again celebrate the birthplace of the fajita in deep South Texas with crazy cooking teams competing in 5 categories; Pan de Campo, Frijoles, Mollejas, Traditional & Gourmet Fajitas. There will be cash prizes & custom made mini BBQ pit trophies for the top fajita aficionados. And The Fajita Cookoff will move to Sunday October 5th rather than on Saturday as before. New this year is a lower entry fee of $125 for all 5 categories plus Showmanship Award.   The PalmFest Dutch Oven Cookoff is sanctioned by the International Dutch Oven Society,, and produced by Mike Key, local official. This will be a 3 pot Cookoff consisting of an entrée, dessert and bread. The first place winner will be invited to compete in the World Championship in March 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

October 11, 2014  Punkin Days - Floydada, Texas
Celebrating the long history of pumpkin production in the Floydada region with activities such as pie baking, pumpkin carving and coloring, pumpkin decoration, pumpkin pie relays, Cow Patty Bingo, seed spitting contest, Trunk or Treating, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin rolling, pumpkin guessing and pumpkin weighing.  Second Saturday in October.

October 11-12, 2014  Traders Village 30th Annual Bar-B-Que Cookoff
Grand Prairie, Texas
One of the longest running BBQ events in Texas and this year’s event is expected to be better than ever, attracting BBQ cooks from across the state and beyond. The event is free to the public both days, with only a $3.00 parking fee.  BBQ competition: Chicken, Pork Spare Ribs, Brisket, and a Kids Cook Off.  The barbeque cooks and their cooking devices are a show in themselves at this culinary event. The serious beef barons will showcase custom-made, unique traveling pits with individual touches of creativity to suit the owner’s taste. While the cooking competition can become serious, the atmosphere and camaraderie will be strictly fun-filled recreation.  Cookoff visitors will get a firsthand look at how seriously barbequers take their cooking and their fun. You can look, smell and often taste. If you ask when a team isn’t busy preparing an entry for the judges, you can get some practical tips on how to improve your home barbeque cooking skills.  There will be a need for individuals to judge the competition. The public is invited to sign up, at the cookoff judging area, for a free chance to judge the BBQ competition.

A fantastic culinary adventure!  Houston area restaurants and culinary schools participate by serving up delicious creations that all contain bacon.  Attendees help select the winners by voting for their favorite dishes.  Included in the cost if your fill of St Arnolds beer and all the tastings from the restaurants and schools you can manage!  Hosted by Professionals in Culinary Arts, a Houston based non-profit that raises scholarship monies for students enrolled in area culinary programs.  Time: 6:30 - 8:30 pm - Cost: $35.

October 16, 2014  25th Annual La Dolce Vita - Austin, Texas
Food & Wine Festival. The Austin Museum of Art. Providing gustatorial treats and tasty libations will be more than 50 of Austin’s top restaurants, plus local and regional wineries. Going strong for nearly a quarter-century, La Dolce Vita remains the premier food and wine event in Austin specifically supporting arts education.

October 17, 2014  2nd Annual Cowtown Cook Off - Fort Worth, Texas
A hot & spicy chili competition.  Panther Club presents the second annual Cowtown Cook Off—a hot and spicy chili competition! Chow on chili, vote for the best and wash it down with ice-cold brew, wine and margaritas. Dancing, casino, auction and more round out the evening. Proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth.

October 17-18, 2014  Chisholm Trail Days - Georgetown, Texas
Watch a chuckwagon cook-off and an authentic longhorn cattle drive. Entertainment for all ages including live cowboy music, food, western art show, western demonstrators, a ranch rodeo, and a kids' chuckwagon cook-off. Supports the Williamson Museum.

October 17-19, 2014  10th Annual Llano River Chuck Wagon Cook-Off
Llano, Texas
Starting in 2005, and each year since, a group of chuckwagon enthusiasts get together on the banks of the Llano River in Llano, Texas and go back in time to an era when the west was settled.These enthusiasts use traditional cooking methods from that era, wear traditional dress and experience traditional neighborly fun as they compete for prizes in a number of categories.

October 24-25, 2014  Wine in the Pines - Mount Vernon, Texas
The Wine in the Pines Wine Festival is held annually on the fourth weekend in October on the downtown square in Mt. Vernon, TX. This year's date is Friday October 24 from 5 to 9pm and Saturday October 25 from 10am to 5pm.  It is comprised of wineries from all over Texas. From the sweet to the bold and everything in between, it can all be found here. Admission is $5 per person and tastings are $1 each. Wine is available by the tasting, the glass, or the bottle. Mana House, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.  Join the Tequila Interchange Project to explore the origins and trajectory of Tequila and the burgeoning spirits category, Mezcal. Learn about the Denominations of Origin in Mexico, what types of Tequila exist and how they are produced. Get acquainted with Mezcal, a broader category of agave distillates. Examine the history of human use and cultivation of agave dating back 10,000 years. Discuss the rise of Tequila as a globally recognized spirit category. October 25, 2014  World Champion Hopkins Co Stew Festival
Sulphur Springs, Texas
The World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest hosts 150 cooking teams stirring up hearty chicken or beef stew in huge cast iron pots over open wood fires at beautiful Buford Park in Sulphur Springs on the 4th Saturday in October.  Visitors are encouraged to get to the stew grounds early so that they may enjoy seeing the campsites uniquely decorated with wagon trains, simmering pots and glowing campfires.   Just $5 buys a bowl (for all the stew you can eat), along with cheese and crackers.

The Festival features the best of Texas wines, food, and entertainment. All fest activities are located on Fredericksburg's downtown MarktPlatz (Market Square) and proceeds from the Fest go toward the continued beautification and upkeep of Marktplatz. Twenty-nine Texas wineries will be on hand pouring over 100 types of wine. The Grape Expectations Cooking School showcases Texas chefs. There will be two sessions featuring three chefs each.

October 26, 2013  4th North TX Firefighters Benefit Chili Cook-off & Motorcycle Run - Whitewright, Texas
A fundraiser to help volunteer fire departments buy what they need to save lives, then return home. All chili cooks, all ages are welcome to compete in the CASI-sanctioned cook-off. 13 awards. For $5 the public can sample the chili's and vote for their favorite. The Red River Motorcycle Run takes riders through tree-lined roads and open grasslands, then it runs parallel to the Red River.

Twice a year, the Napa Valley Vintners hits the road with the principals and winemakers from 80 or more member wineries, focusing each trip on one market. The vintners spend several days in that market, hosting a mix of trade and consumer tasting events and educational programs.
