Annual Texas Rice Festival
Winnie, Texas
An annual event held since 1969, honoring rice farming in the Southeast Texas region around Winnie. Includes a carnival,  two parades, livestock show, longhorn show, open horse show, BBQ cook off, nightly street dances, antique car show, rice cooking contest, pageants, and features food made with rice and flavors of the Cajun culture.

October 5-7, 2023  47th Annual East Texas Poultry Festival
Center, Texas
East Texas Poultry Festival saluting the poultry industry. Arts & crafts, 3 day carnival, live entertainment, food vendors, cheerleading competition, photography show, quilt show, creative arts, poultry judging and auction and more.

October 5-8, 2023  37th Gruene Music & Wine Festival
New Braunfels, Texas
A four-day celebration of Texas and Americana music, as well as Texas, German, and New World wines, specialty beer, and handcrafted items.

October 6, 2023  Annual Katy Wine Fest - Katy, Texas
Wine Lovers and Foodies Unite for a Great Cause at the Annual Katy Wine Fest.  Boasting more than 40 different types of wines, guests will sample rare finds and special vintages not found in your local grocery store. We’re certain you’ll find a few new favorites!  Along with a fantastic selection of wine, the Katy Wine Fest  will feature several local restaurants serving delicious light bites. Live musical entertainment, a silent and Big Board auction featuring fantastic items, and an exciting raffle will round out the night. Proceeds will benefit The Brookwood Community and the Brookwood Center for Learning.

A Top 10 Best Places to Celebrate Oktoberfest in the US. German heritage with German food and drink, polka and waltz contests, music on three stages -all weekend, artisans, Kinderpark, souvenirs and more! Fun for the whole family!

October 7, 2023  Taste of Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie, Texas
This year, we are moving the party to Main Street.  Come out to enjoy the Farmers Market and then head on over to the Taste, in front of Grand Prairie City Hall, for more fun!  The focus of this partnership event with the City of Grand Prairie is to highlight and promote local businesses, both community and chamber wide. Our purpose is to educate the community about local companies and the many products and services available to them, as well as to provide exhibitors with an additional marketing tool with which to promote their products and broaden their customer base.

October 12-15, 2023  54th Annual Groves Pecan Festival
Groves, Texas
Pecan cooking contest with appetizers, entrees, and desserts categories. Treasure hunt, parade, pecan toss, pet show and stick horse barrel racing.

October 13-15, 2023  51st Annual Cuero Turkeyfest - Cuero, Texas
Food, Beer, Arts & Crafts, Jalapeno Eating Contest, Great Gobbler Gallop, Chili Cook-Off, Barbecue Cook-Off, Washer Pitching, and Horseshoe Throwing. Worthington, Minnesota and Cuervo, Texas have been competing for 35 years to claim the title for their city as the "Turkey Capitol of the World" (Minnesota, September King Turkey Day)

October 13-15, 2023  Conroe Catfish Festival - Conroe, Texas
The festival annually draws over 30,000 people to hear it's stellar music line-up, browse through the many craft booths and exhibits and eat a variety of Cajun style food.  Attendance: 30,000.

October 14, 2023  18th Annual Boonville Days: Texas Heritage Festival
Bryan, Texas
The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History. Boonville Days Texas Heritage Festival.  Enjoy cowboys, reenactors, musicians, dancers, artisans, and much more,.and Chuck Wagon Lunches.

October 14, 2023  Punkin Days - Floydada, Texas
Celebrating the long history of pumpkin production in the Floydada region with activities such as pie baking, pumpkin carving and coloring, pumpkin decoration, pumpkin pie relays, Cow Patty Bingo, seed spitting contest, Trunk or Treating, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin rolling, pumpkin guessing and pumpkin weighing.  Second Saturday in October.

October 14, 2023  Annual Texas Mushroom Festival
Madisonville, Texas
Madisonville, the 'Mushroom Capital of Texas'. The festival aims to promote agricultural, culinary, and fine arts in East Texas. Events include mushroom cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts, auto show, dance, pageant, photo contest and the Shitake 5K.

October 14, 2023  6th Annual Steak, Stein, and Wine Festival
Cameron, Texas
The Cameron Chamber of Commerce is excited to partner with 44 Farms to kick off a great day of Steak, Stein & Wine Festival events in downtown Cameron. Rick Trevino will close the festival with a concert/dance at the Milam County Junior Livestock Youth Expo!

October 20-22, 2023  28th Annual ArmeniaFest - Carrollton, Texas
The annual Cultural and Food Festival will include a program of folk dances, delicious offerings of food, music, special exhibits, and more. St. Sarkis Armenian Church.

October 20-22, 2023  PalmFest: Fiesta de Palmas - McAllen, Texas
PalmFest will feature major attractions, historical displays, shopping, art, family games, rides and kids activities, cooking competitions and demonstrations, live entertainment, classic car show, diverse food and beverage. Over 40,000 people will enjoy the event inside the Convention Center and all around the grounds in the Oval Park and Reflecting Pond.  Attendance: 40,000.

October 21, 2023  Annual Herb Market - San Antonio, Texas
At the historic Pearl Brewery Farmer’s Market, 300 Pearl Parkway, San Antonio, Texas from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  It is a family friendly educational and fun event with activities for children, seminars on growing and using herbs including the International Herb of the Year – Cilantro, cooking demonstrations, vendors and artisans offering herbs, herbal products, crafts and plants for purchase and more.  All events are free and open to the public.  Parking is free.

October 27-29, 2023  Czhilispiel - Flatonia, Texas
Czhilispiel’s 51st Year!  Pronounced 'ChiliSpill". Czhili and BBQ cookoffs, pie auction, biergarten, jalapeno eating contest, parade, pageant, car and truck shows and three days of live music. Czech us out!

October 28, 2023  33rd Fredericksburg Food & Wine Fest
Fredericksburg, Texas
The Festival features the best of Texas wines, food, and entertainment. All fest activities are located on Fredericksburg's downtown MarktPlatz (Market Square) and proceeds from the Fest go toward the continued beautification and upkeep of Marktplatz. Twenty-nine Texas wineries will be on hand pouring over 100 types of wine. The Grape Expectations Cooking School showcases Texas chefs. There will be two sessions featuring three chefs each.

October 28, 2023  World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest
Sulphur Springs, Texas
The World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest hosts 150 cooking teams stirring up hearty chicken or beef stew in huge cast iron pots over open wood fires at beautiful Buford Park in Sulphur Springs on the 4th Saturday in October.  Visitors are encouraged to get to the stew grounds early so that they may enjoy seeing the campsites uniquely decorated with wagon trains, simmering pots and glowing campfires.  For $8, spectators may visit as many campsites as time and appetite allow.

October 28, 2023  National Championship Barbeque Cookoff
Meridian, Texas
The National Championship Barbecue Cookoff celebrates years of Great BBQ & Fun.  Almost 200 teams will compete for the Grand Champion Title at Meridian’s Beautiful Bosque Bottoms.  Purchase People’s Choice Tickets and taste & vote for your favorite BBQ! Guests and fellow Houston museum enthusiasts will enjoy light bites and cocktails while exploring food, culture, and epidemics in ancient Egypt and how it relates to us in real-time.  The Health Museum – 1515 Hermann, Dr, Houston, Texas 77004 – from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and will feature Dr. Sabrina Sholts, Curator of Biological Anthropology at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural Science, and Dr. Salima Ikram, Distinguished Professor and Egyptologist, who will share the social and environmental connections between health and disease, and explore the applications of today’s genetics to provide insights to ancient problems.

October 14-15, 2017 - Beer & Barbecue Festival - Grand Prairie, Texas
Traders Village announces the new Craft Beer & Barbecue Festival. This event is going to feature award winning barbecue cooks cooking up some of the best barbecue brisket and ribs on both days. Guest will be able to buy this barbecue AND have a chance to purchase a variety of Craft Beers. Live music from 12 noon to 4p.m. each day.  During band breaks the cooks will visit with the audience to provide some tips on what helped them win barbecue cook offs all over Texas and the southwest. This festival will have something for everyone.

October 21-22, 2016  Kyle Hogwash - Kyle, Texas
NO EVENT IN 2017.
Kyle Hogwash is a first-time event bringing family fun to guests from Round Rock to north San Antonio and beyond! The festival, which takes its name from Central Texas' undeniable feral hog population, is a free-admission event with a variety of activities and events for all.
In addition to presentations, products and services aimed at assisting in feral hog and overall wildlife management, festival attendees will enjoy family activities, carnival and amusements games and a Lonestar Barbecue Society-sanctioned cook-off featuring teams from across the region. Another planned element is a cooking stage featuring local notable chefs showcasing the many ways in which feral hog can be prepared. Kyle Hogwash will also be the home of Hammerschlagen, one of the easiest games to play...and the hardest to master! Attendees will also enjoy ongoing live music.
