Boonville Days Chuckwagon Cookoff
Bryan, Texas
The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History.  This event consists of a living history fair, a race, and a Chuck Wagon Cook-Off.

 

October 17, 2014  2nd Annual Cowtown Cook Off - Fort Worth, Texas
A hot & spicy chili competition.  Panther Club presents the second annual Cowtown Cook Off—a hot and spicy chili competition! Chow on chili, vote for the best and wash it down with ice-cold brew, wine and margaritas. Dancing, casino, auction and more round out the evening. Proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth.

October 24-25, 2014  Wine in the Pines - Mount Vernon, Texas
This event is open to any Texas winery.  This will be the fourth year for Wine in the Pines.  We typically have 18 wineries attending from as far south as Houston, as far north as Paris, as far east as Naples and as far west as Wichita Falls.  Admission is $5 per person and tastings are $1 each.  Wine is available by the tasting, the glass, or the bottle.  Visit the art, crafts and food vendors.  Enjoy the live entertainment.  Friday evening is especially fun as we stroll among the lights to sip, savor, shop and walk around the square.

October 25, 2014  Fredericksburg Food & Wine Fest
Fredericksburg, Texas
The Festival features the best of Texas wines, food, and entertainment. All fest activities are located on Fredericksburg's downtown MarktPlatz (Market Square) and proceeds from the Fest go toward the continued beautification and upkeep of Marktplatz. Twenty-nine Texas wineries will be on hand pouring over 100 types of wine. The Grape Expectations Cooking School showcases Texas chefs. There will be two sessions featuring three chefs each.

October 2-6, 2013  Texas Rice Festival - Winnie, Texas
An annual event held since 1969, honoring rice farming in the Southeast Texas region around Winnie. Includes a carnival,  two parades, livestock show, longhorn show, open horse show, BBQ cook off, nightly street dances, antique car show, rice cooking contest, pageants, and features food made with rice and flavors of the Cajun culture.

October 4-6, 2013  18th Annual Lebanese Food Festival - Lewisville, TX
Enjoy Authentic Lebanese Food including favorites such as Stuffed Grape Leaves, Kibbi, Tabbouli, Hummus, Kafta, Falafel, Garlic Chicken Sandwiches, Baklava and much more! There is a full entertainment schedule, a Children's Play Area, Silent Auction, Door Prizes and a Raffle with some great prizes!

 

October 4-6, 2013  Oktoberfest - Fredericksburg, Texas
A Top 10 Best Places to Celebrate Oktoberfest in the US. German heritage with German food and drink, polka and waltz contests, music on three stages -all weekend, artisans, Kinderpark, souvenirs and more! Fun for the whole family!

October 8-12, 2013  Floresville Peanut Festival - Floresville, Texas
Celebrating the farming and harvesting of the area's peanut crop, annual activities include the Goober Games for children, a pageant, parades, street dances, and entertainment.

October 10, 2013  Tasting The Town - Humble, Texas
Lake Houston Area’s premier annual food and beverage tasting event brings local restaurateurs, chefs, caterers, musicians, wineries, breweries and other vendors together in one fantastic event for the local community from 5-8 pm at the Humble Civic Center!  This annual food and beverage tasting event features the area’s most talented chefs, tastiest restaurants, accomplished caterers, and most popular beverage, coffee houses, wineries and breweries around.

October 10-12, 2013  68th Annual Peanut Festival - Grapeland, Texas
The 68th annual festival will be fun for the entire family!

October 10-13, 2013  Cuero Turkeyfest - Cuero, Texas
Food, Beer, Arts & Crafts, Jalapeno Eating Contest, Turk Olympics, Chili Cook-Off, Barbecue Cook-Off, Washer Pitching, and Horseshoe Throwing. Worthington, Minnesota and Cuervo, Texas have been competing for 35 years to claim the title for their city as the "Turkey Capitol of the World" (See also Minnesota, September King Turkey Day)

New Braunfels, Texas
A four-day celebration of Texas and Americana music, as well as Texas, German, and New World wines, specialty beer, and handcrafted items.

October 11-13, 2013  ArmeniaFest - Carrollton, Texas
The 18th annual cultural and food festival will include a program of folk dances, delicious offerings of food, music, special exhibits, and more.

October 11-13, 2013  24th Annual Cajun Catfish Festival - Conroe, Texas
The festival annually draws over 30,000 people to hear it's stellar music line-up, browse through the many craft booths and exhibits and eat a variety of Cajun style food.

 

October 12, 2013  Punkin Days - Floydada, Texas
Celebrating the long history of pumpkin production in the Floydada region with activities such as pie baking, pumpkin carving and coloring, pumpkin decoration, pumpkin pie relays, Cow Patty Bingo, seed spitting contest, Trunk or Treating, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin rolling, pumpkin guessing and pumpkin weighing.  Second Saturday in October.

October 12, 2013  Wine & Arts Fair on Monterey Square - Wharton, Texas
Shop, Sip and Stroll.  Free wine sampling 4-8pm.  Wine sampling at 8 locations.  Beer Sampling.  Food.  Live Music.  "Whining" Contest.  Carriage Rides.  The Carriage used in the filming of "Gone with the Wind" on display.  Art Car Show.   Featured are the wines of Bernhardt Winery of Plantersville, Texas

October 12, 2013  Texas Mushroom Festival - Madisonville, Texas
Madisonville, the 'Mushroom Capital of Texas'. The festival aims to promote agricultural, culinary, and fine arts in East Texas. Events include mushroom cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts, auto show, dance, pageant, photo contest and the Shitake 5K.

October 12-13, 2013  30th Annual Int”l BBQ Cookers Association Cookoff
Grand Prairie, Texas
This is one of the largest BBQ events in Texas and this year’s event is expected to be even larger. Over 100 cookers will prepare over 600 judging samples, in the two days of competition. Thousands of dollars in prize money will attract BBQ cooks from across the state and beyond.

October 18-19, 2013  Chisholm Trail Days - Georgetown, Texas
Watch a chuckwagon cook-off and an authentic longhorn cattle drive. Entertainment for all ages including live cowboy music, food, western art show, western demonstrators, a ranch rodeo, and a kids' chuckwagon cook-off. Supports the Williamson Museum.

Nationwide gourd art competition, kids gourd craft area, etc.

October 18-20, 2013  9th Annual Llano River Chuck Wagon Cook-Off
Llano, Texas
Starting in 2005, and each year since, a group of chuckwagon enthusiasts get together on the banks of the Llano River in Llano, Texas and go back in time to an era when the west was settled.These enthusiasts use traditional cooking methods from that era, wear traditional dress and experience traditional neighborly fun as they compete for prizes in a number of categories.

Going strong for nearly a quarter-century, La Dolce Vita remains the premier food and wine event in Austin specifically supporting arts education.

October 26, 2013  World Champion Hopkins Co Stew Festival
Sulphur Springs, Texas
The World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest hosts 150 cooking teams stirring up hearty chicken or beef stew in huge cast iron pots over open wood fires at beautiful Buford Park in Sulphur Springs on the 4th Saturday in October.  Visitors are encouraged to get to the stew grounds early so that they may enjoy seeing the campsites uniquely decorated with wagon trains, simmering pots and glowing campfires.   Just $5 buys a bowl (for all the stew you can eat), along with cheese and crackers.

October 26, 2013  4th North TX Firefighters Benefit Chili Cook-off & Motorcycle Run - Whitewright, Texas
A fundraiser to help volunteer fire departments buy what they need to save lives, then return home. All chili cooks, all ages are welcome to compete in the CASI-sanctioned cook-off. 13 awards. For $5 the public can sample the chili's and vote for their favorite. The Red River Motorcycle Run takes riders through tree-lined roads and open grasslands, then it runs parallel to the Red River.

Includes Barbecue Cook-off and Margarita Mix-off with live music each night, plus many other activities.

October 11-12, 2010  Taste Napa Valley - Houston, Texas
Twice a year, the Napa Valley Vintners hits the road with the principals and winemakers from 80 or more member wineries, focusing each trip on one market. The vintners spend several days in that market, hosting a mix of trade and consumer tasting events and educational programs.

October 21, 2010  TexasAgExpo - Stephenville, Texas
