May 6, 2017  Waco Steak Cookoff & Wine Festival - Waco, Texas
What Makes Steak Taste Better?  Eating it in Waco, Texas!  We are not kidding.  Join us for the Inaugural Steak Cook Off and Wine Festival in downtown Waco at Heritage Park.  From good food, good wine, and good people, it's sure to be the best time you can have this May!!  What pairs perfectly with steak? Well, we think a great beverage. Not only can you sample some of the best eating in Texas, but you can sip and savor Texas' finest too.  We'll kick this shindig off at 11am right in the middle of all the festivities.

May 12-13, 2017  34th Annual Electra Goat BBQ - Electra, Texas
At the Electra Fairgrounds.  The event is sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbeque Society and kicks off with a Friday night jackpot steak cookoff.  Cooking categories on Saturday include jackpot beans, chicken, ribs, brisket, and of course, GOAT!  All of these events require judges, so if you would like to volunteer to judge one of the categories, please call the Chamber office at 940-495-3577.  Prize money is awarded to the top 5 cooks in each of the meat categories, with points awarded through 10 places for advancement to the Championship Cookoff in Meridian, Texas.  The craft show will feature food vendors, artists, and other craftsmen, as well as games for all ages.  We hope to see you there!

May 12-14, 2017  32nd Annual Texas Crab Festival
Crystal Beach, Texas
Honoring the "blue crab", which is usually plentiful here in spring and summer. The 30th-annual event features live entertainment, food and craft booths, a crab legs contest, crab races, Wiener Dog Nationals, carnival and a kids' stage.

May 19, 2017  Fort Worth Zoo Annual Beastro - Fort Worth, Texas
From 8:00 p.m. to midnight. This year’s event offers a record number of participating restaurants as well as all-new scheduled animal feedings and enrichment activities throughout the park. Proceeds from Beastro support the Zoo’s local and international wildlife conservation and education efforts.  To accommodate for the growing number of restaurants, the Zoo will extend the party down through Asian Falls, where guests can watch the antics of baby elephants Belle and Bowie while dining on sample appetizers, entrees and desserts from the finest area restaurants. The Zoo will also feature Wild Encounters keeper chats as well as scheduled animal feedings until dusk. The Zoo’s outreach animals will greet partygoers as they enter the event. In addition to the delectable cuisine, Beastro will feature open bars throughout the Zoo and live entertainment.  General admission Beastro tickets are $110 (Zoo members save $10) and include all food, drinks and entertainment. Party Animal tickets are $160 (Zoo members save $10)

Sample the meat of the Old West at this cook-off sanctioned by the Texas Bison Association and the Lone Star Barbecue Society, plus arts & crafts, homemade pies and ice creams, volleyball, horseshoes and more

May 19-21, 2017  43rd Annual Pasadena Strawberry Festival
Pasadena, Texas
Strawberries, famous for their size and sweetness, were the first big business in Pasadena, Texas. These strawberries not only brought premium prices, but also earned Pasadena the coveted title "Strawberry Capital of the South." Fundraising event for local groups, scholarships, libraries, preservation, etc.  Attendance: 61,000.

May 19-21, 2017 - Taste Addison - Addison, Texas
A celebration of food, music, and fun, TASTE ADDISON, dishes out the best food and flavor with a healthy side of jam. A three-day menu of fun, Taste Addison delivers the tastiest eateries with the best music at Addison Circle Park. Known for 180+ restaurants in less than 4.4 miles and its nationally recognized special events, Addison serves up a good time no matter the craving.

May 20, 2017 - 8th Annual Basil Fest - San Antonio, Texas
The 8th Annual Basil Fest will be held at the historic Pearl Brewery Farmer’s Market, 300 Pearl Parkway, San Antonio, Texas from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  The Basil Fest is a family friendly celebration of Basil, the Herb of Summer, with a focus on the many varieties of Basil with seminars, cooking demonstrations, a Chef’s Challenge, activities for children, vendors and artisans offering herbs, herbal products and crafts for purchase and more.  The featured attraction – the “Chef’s Challenge” – is a challenge between local chefs to create a basil based recipe.  Guests sample the results and may vote for their favorite by donation.  All monies raised during the Chef’s Challenge will be given to a non-profit group.

May 20, 2017  Houston Press BrewFest - Houston, Texas
BrewFest is an indoor/outdoor beer-sampling event and festival that will feature craft beers, local food trucks and live music! Eight (3oz) beer samples are included in the ticket price. All Guests must be 21+, with a Valid I.D.  Doors open at 2:00 for VIP and 3:00 for General Admission.  VIP Ticket Includes: Early Admission at 2PM for sampling the beer before the general public.  In and out access to VIP Area that is serving up specialty/seasonal beers and complimentary apps.  All Tickets Include: 8 – 3 oz. Beer Samplings, with additional sampling cards available for purchase at the event.

May 20, 2017  14th Annual Texas Steak Cookoff and Wine Festival
Hico, Texas
From the Food Network to Texas Monthly to Rachel Ray Magazine, people are talking about the Texas Steak Cookoff. As the largest steak cookoff in the Southwest, it draws people from all over the US into the little town of Hico, Texas. If you are looking for a weekend getaway in May, the cookoff is tough to beat.

May 21, 2017  Cochon555 - Houston, Texas
The Cochon555 US Tour executes a yearly host of authentic, hyper-local food events focused on raising awareness for heritage breed pigs.  Five chefs will prepare five, whole heritage breed pigs from family farms, and each chef will have one week to prepare 6 portions for 450+ guests. During each event, guests and notable judges will vote for the best bite from over 1,200 pounds of heritage pork. The winner is then crowned the “Prince or Princess of Porc” and guaranteed a slot at Grand Cochon in October. The Sunday afternoon event unites diners with farmers, winemakers, craft brewers, and distillers in a culinary showdown with a singular focus: ensuring a safe, honest, and delicious future for our food system and the children who will inherit it.  Ensuring a future of safe, honest, and delicious food will be the dominant theme of this year’s tour. In support of this, Cochon555 will donate a portion of all proceeds to its sister charity, Piggy Bank. This nonprofit foundation is a genetic sanctuary and Missouri farm established to provide free genetics to emerging family farmers.

May 21, 2017  Big Batch Brew Bash - Houston, Texas
Kuykendahl Gran Brewers Homebrew Club. The Big Batch Brew Bash is the KGB's signature homebrew competition.  Begun in 1996, it has grown into the largest single-style homebrew competition in the history of humankind.  Impressive, but don't ask for documentation or a certificate from the world record folks at Guinness.  It is also noted for being sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association and free to enter.

May 27-28, 2017  21st Annual Festival of Wine & Food - Rockport, Texas
Presented by the Texas Maritime Museum.  21: Casinos & Cabernets!  You'll have a great time with wine, beer, food, music, vendors, and of course, the Coast!

May 16, 2015  Charcoal Championship - Galveston, Texas
Show those Cats and Daddy-Os at Good Housekeeping what you’re made of and gather a chick, a cool head (no squares please) and register for this Primo old fashioned cookoff!  Teams will compete using their favorite summer/beach themed recipes. The rules are simple, you can cook anything you’d like as long as you can cook it on a charcoal pit. Part of Galveston Island Beach Revue.

May 6, 2014  Burgers, BBQ & Beer - San Antonio, Texas
Texans love their burgers, barbecue and beer and in San Antonio, everyone from our local hangouts to the finest of dining establishments offers their best version of the classic backyard fare. This casual family friendly event at Pearl provides guests the chance to sample some of the goodness. Add in craft beer, cocktail or maybe a glass of pinot and you’ve found a perfect Sunday afternoon.

May 10, 2014  North Texas Beer Festival - Plano, Texas
This festival will feature dozens of brewers, merchandise of all kinds, live music, speakers, classes, competitions and more.  Guests can sample 100's of beers from dozens of brewers, attend home brewing demonstrations and cooking classes as well as purchase their favorite brews and food in our outdoor Bier Garten while listening to live music.  We will have auctions and raffles benefiting local charities as well and door prizes for some lucky guests.

May 17-18, 2014  Kemah Ragin Cajun Festival - Kemah, Texas
The First Annual Kemah Ragin Cajun Festival is a highly anticipated event,  located Under the Kemah Bridge, Kemah, Texas.  At the festival, we serve up crawfish, alligator and gumbo with great cajun flavor! When you come out, you will enjoy live music from great local and national bands! In addition to crawfish, gumbo & alligator, we will be offering great festival food and beer as well.

May 4, 2013  Austin Bakes for West - Austin, Texas
Hundreds of bakers, bloggers, businesses, and consumers will unite for "Austin Bakes for West," a bake sale fundraising event to help those affected by the recent explosion in West, Texas. Over 80 home cooks and dozens of local businesses will be contributing baked goods at locations throughout Austin, with proceeds going to AmeriCares relief efforts in West.

May 24-26, 2013  CityArts Festival - Dallas, Texas
Includes Culinary Showcase and CityArts Food. At the Culinary Showcase inside the Texas Museum of Automotive History, festival goers ages 21 and up can enjoy Cooking Demos, Samplings, Wine and Spirits Pairings, Mixology Sessions, Craft Beer, Liquor and Wine Tastings, Evolving Cocktails, Scotch Flight Tastings, and more.  Outside the Culinary Showcase, all ages can enjoy bites and beverages from dozens of Food Trucks and Vendors.

May 11-12, 2012  Great Texas Sausage Festival - Somerville, Texas
Featuring the best Texas made sausage producers.  Events include Outdoor Volleyball Tournament (cash and recreational brackets), The Great Texas Sausage Dog (dachshunds) Championship Races, Classic Car Show, Arts and Craft Booths, Sausage Eating Championship, and live Texas Country Music. Texas' Unofficial Start Summer Party!!!

May 25-27, 2012  Fredericksburg Crawfish Festival - Fredericksburg, Texas
We'll be serving up red beans & rice, boudin, gumbo, and - of course - crawfish. Other cajun delicacies are also available for everyone to enjoy, and for those who don't like crawfish (don't like crawfish?!!), there will be hamburgers, corndogs, and plenty of German sausage - what Fredericksburg is known for.  Food and fun for all ages are available. The festival will offer a children's area for kids of all ages, and arts & crafts will be there for your shopping pleasure.
