April 1-30, 2016 - 4th Annual Blue Plate Special - Houston, Texas
During the month of April 2016, participating Houston restaurants will serve a “blue plate special” to support The Thread Alliance’s fundraiser, the 4th annual citywide child abuse prevention awareness campaign encouraging Houstonians to take action against child abuse and towards healing.  The Thread Alliance, a non-profit organization founded by Sheila Aron, is dedicated to ending the cycle of child abuse. April is National Child Abuse Prevention month. Participating restaurants will offer guests a “blue plate special” and will donate a percentage or flat dollar amount to The Thread Alliance.

April 2, 2016  Texas Onion Fest - Weslaco, Texas
Celebrates the world-famous Texas 1015 Onion developed in Weslaco. There is lots of new stuff to see! On Saturday, the festivities will kick off with live music on two stages and the lively "Onion Eating Contests". The fun will last all day with music performances on the Main Stage, a Kids Zone, two performances by the Dancing Horses, Arts & Crafts, cooking demonstrations at the Culinary Center, and so much more. Viva La Onion!

April 2-3, 2016  Gluten Free Food Allergy Fest 2016 - Austin, Texas
We’re having a party and you’re invited!  Gluten Free & More (formerly Living Without) magazine wants you to know that living with a food allergy or sensitivity doesn’t need to be about deprivation and missing out.  On the contrary, what you’re living without is all the horrible symptoms and medical problems you had before understanding what allergens you needed to avoid.  So, come join us, over a hundred of our favorite exhibitors and thousands of our closest friends as we celebrate LIVING WELL!!   Our nationwide series will expand to seven cities by 2015.  At every event, you get to sample tons of gluten-free, allergy-friendly foods, learn from experts in the community and hang out with others who understand our world.

April 6-10, 2016  Annual Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair
Sugar Land, Texas
The 5-day event begins on Wednesday with "La Dolce Vida", a VIP kick-off with a five-course dinner hosted by world renowned Offical Ambassador of Castello Banfi and Vinqe Regali, Luciano Castello.  Bartender Challenge on Thursday, educational seminars, and The Grand Tasting on Friday from 6:00pm-9:30pm at the Sugar Land Marriott Town Square.

 

The Sip & Stroll, will be held again at the grounds of the historical Imperial Sugar Factory from 1:00pm-4:00pm on Saturday - featuring an outdoor beer garden that will have more than 100 different types of beers from 25 different breweries. Closing out the affair, the Bistro Brunch will serve various types of dishes inspired by international cuisines on Sunday from 11:00am-2:00pm at the Sugar Land Town Square.  Individual tickets from $50 to $150 and 3-day VIP passes for $225.

April 7-10, 2016 - Annual Savor Dallas - Dallas, Texas
The Savor Dallas wine and food festival has grown into a renowned wine and culinary extravaganza and has become a signature for the city of Dallas.  It is the ultimate toast to the enticing epicurean culture of the vibrant Dallas landscape. The four-day festival features educational and wine-tasting seminars, wine dinners hosted at premier destinations in the city, the Arts District Wine Stroll and Savor the Arboretum.  The festival culminates on Saturday with an elegant Reserve Tasting of world-class wine, spirits and beer, along with a premier silent auction, followed by the Grand Tasting event.

April 8-10, 2016  Poteet Strawberry Festival - Poteet, Texas
One of the oldest, most popular events in the state and is recognized as the largest agricultural festival in Texas.

April 9, 2016 - 46th Annual Ranch Day - Lubbock, Texas
Ranch Day is a living history, educational event begun in 1970 at the National Ranching Heritage Center. More than 100 Ranch Hosts and special event participants recreate authentic settings reflective of ranching from the 1780s to the present.

April 13, 2016  Dining Out in Dallas 'Battle of the Chefs' - Dallas, Texas
Come join the fun as select chefs from the finest Dallas restaurants battle it out to be voted as the crowd favorite.  Dining Out In Dallas is the signature fundraising event for the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation, raising over $1,650,000 since 1995.

Galveston, Texas

April 15-17, 2016  Brazoria County Crawfish Festival - Angleton, Texas
The Pearland Crawfish Festival, one of Texas’ largest crawfish festivals is moving to MSR Houston Motor Speedway down 288 from Pearland where it has had its home for three years. In the spirit of the move, and in opening up to be a county-wide event, we are changing the name to the Brazoria County Crawfish Festival.  The explosive growth of Pearland made suitable tracts for a major festival unavailable. MSR Houston provides a venue dedicated to entertainment and committed to expansion, with the festival site entirely on concrete to avoid the problems of mud experienced in 2015.  The Brazoria County Crawfish Festival still takes the friendly, relaxed fun and community feel of a small town fair and serves it up big. We’ll be boiling up tons of delicious, spicy, hot, fresh crawfish throughout the festival, along with the best of Cajun dishes and classic festival fare. Live music on and games on three stages includes Zydeco, Blues, Texas Country and Classic Rock. Red Swamp Crawfish Catering, our professional, world-class boilers are bringing in the best farm-raised Crawfish in the Gulf Coast at a great price. There will be crawfish eating contests, vendors of gifts, arts and crafts and more. A Children’s Area and a professional, world-class carnival will provide professional rides and plenty of activities and fun for kids. April 22-24, 2016  Austin Food & Wine Festival - Austin, Texas
Throughout the weekend, you'll experience up-close and personal access to culinary, wine and spirit talent at dozens of cooking demos, wine and cocktail seminars. Between sessions, drop by the Taste or Savor Lounges for complimentary beer, wine and cocktails. Then sip and nibble your way through The Grand Tasting Pavilion showcasing over 80 wine, spirit and artisanal food exhibitors, along with celebrated local and regional restaurants. Plus, pick-up copies of inspiring cookbooks and get them signed by your favorite chefs in the Autograph Tent.  Attendance: 9,000.

April 23, 2016  Oskar Blues Brewery’s Burning Can Festival
Austin, Texas
The Burning Can (notjusta) Beer Fest is an outdoor music-soaked celebration of craft beer in a can, featuring beer sampling, spectator sports, The Beer Relay race, and live music  with all proceeds benefitting CAN'd Aid Foundation.

April 23, 2016  22nd Annual Louisiana Swamp Thing & Crawfish Festival
Buda, Texas
Food & Music. This popular Louisiana themed event features the best in Louisiana cuisine. Enjoy an extensive menu of Cajun seafood. The highlight of the show is 7,000 pounds of jumbo crawfish and other bayou favorites. Entertainment, music.

April 28, 2016  San Angelo Wine & Food Festival: Uncorked & Unstopped
San Angelo, Texas
The San Angelo Food and Wine Festival Uncorked and Untapped presented by Wells Fargo Advisors promises to be a fun evening of tasting food, fine wines, and craft beers at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. Come out and try some of San Angelo's BEST chef's offerings paired with wine AND beer!   We have a limited number of Early Bird Tickets so purchase yours NOW!  Early Bird Ticket prices are only $40.00 until they run out or until April 23, 2016.  After that- tickets will be $50.00.

April 29-30, 2016  Cameron Festival - Cameron, Texas
Cameron Festival to be held April 29-30, 2016.  There will be the 3rd Annual BBQ shootout, live music, Dewberry Bake off, activities for children, and much, much more. The 8th Annual Cameron Car Club Classic Car Show will be held downtown Cameron on the Courthouse Square on April 30, 2016 starting at 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.you may pick up registration forms from the Chamber of Commerce office.

April 29-May 1, 2016  Chicken Fried Steak Festival - Lamesa, Texas
In April 2011, the Texas Legislature declared Lamesa, Texas the "Legendary Home of the Chicken Fried Steak". The City of Lamesa celebrates this declaration each year on the last weekend of April by having a fun-filled weekend and cook-off competition. This year's CFS Festival kicks off on Friday night with a handmade chicken-fried steak dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a roll.   Saturday's Highlight is the Chicken Fried Steak Cookoff Competition.  Contestants start at 10:00 and must turn in their entry by noon to the Judges table. Festival attendees also get to pick their favorite Chicken Fried Steak.  All winners will announced at 3:00pm.  Saturday night the Hot Air Balloons will put on balloon glow and fire concert for spectators in the park.  Vendors and contestants can register online.

April 30, 2016  Houston Press BrewFest - Houston, Texas
BrewFest is an indoor/outdoor beer-sampling event and festival that will feature craft beers, local food trucks and live music! Eight (3oz) beer samples are included in the ticket price. All Guests must be 21+, with a Valid I.D.  Doors open at 2:00 for VIP and 3:00 for General Admission.  VIP Ticket Includes: Early Admission at 2PM for sampling the beer before the general public.  In and out access to VIP Area that is serving up specialty/seasonal beers and complimentary apps.  All Tickets Include: 8 – 3 oz. Beer Samplings, with additional sampling cards available for purchase at the event.

April 30, 2016  Tatum Pecan Pie Festival - Tatum, Texas
Annual Pecan Pie Festival. The whole idea began with the intention to host a mobile cancer screening center in our town. In order to have a venue for the screening center, a handful of dedicated Tatumites organized the festival. We intend to host the cancer screening center each year. We want to be known as the place to come for the best pecan pies in East Texas and where you can get your annual breast cancer screening. Come out and join us for the fun and food.

April 24, 2014  Music To Your Mouth Festival - Austin, Texas
Austin is a little bit country and a little bit rock n roll. It’s cowboy boots, high heels, and flip flops. The food scene is a panapoly of food trucks, fine dining, and quirky neighborhood hot spots. We’re hitting the road with Palmetto Bluff ’s Executive Chef Brandon Carter and Executive Pastry Chef Ashley Cope to explore the Austin food scene and bring a little taste of the Lowcountry to Texas. Along the way, we’ll stop in Mississippi, and pick up Chef John Currence. Together the trio will work with Rough Hollow Executive Chef Jeffrey Hundelt. We’ll discover the food of a new place, and mix things up with a five-course meal paired with the wines of Revana. Following dinner, guests will enjoy a private acoustic concert with Kristian Bush, one half of the award-winning, multi-platinum band Sugarland.

April 25-26, 2014  Texas Food Truckin' Fest - Arlington, Texas

Cooking teams compete for $5,000 in cash prizes by displaying their talents with a salute to the official state dish. Free, continuous activities all day long. And don’t miss the granddaddy of them all “The World Championship of Pickled Quail Egg Eating”. Where contestants see how many jalapeno soaked quail eggs they can eat in 60-seconds.
