September 8, 2012 Monroe Cheese Festival - Monroe, New York The festival celebrates Monroe's history of cheesemaking, dating back to 1873. Velveeta process cheese food was first made here in 1918. Monroe is also the birthplace of Liederkranz cheese. The event includes entertainment, Monroe Idol, rides, demonstrations, Children's Corner and more.

September 9, 2011 10th Annual Taste of Tioga - Owego, New York Restaurants are supplied with two main ingredients from local farms (Tioga and surrounding areas) and are asked to prepare a dish highlighting one or two of the local ingredients, often a vegetable and meat. Guests then get to sample gourmet style dishes including soups, salads, main courses and deserts making a full meal for just $30 per person. More than 10 local restaurants and farms provide a tantalizing selection of foods.
