78th Pine Island Cheese Festival
Pine Island, Minnesota
Antique Tractor Show, Parades, Cheese Ball Contest, Mud Bog, Wine & Cheese Tasting, Street Dance, Midway, Car Show, Pie Stand. In July of 1911 a group of small dairies cooperated to build a Prize Winning World Record 6,000 lb. Cheese on a railroad flatcar. The Pine Island Cheese Festival started in September 1936, and was held annually through 1940 when World War II interrupted. When the festival was reborn in 1949, it was switched to a weekend in June. Since then, the cheese festival has been the opening festival of the summer in southeastern Minnesota.
June 6-8, 2014 30th Annual Buffalo Days - Luverne, Minnesota
Includes World Famous Buffalo Chip-Throwing Contest. Parade, motorcycle rally, waffle feed, live entertainment, classic car auction, swap meet, Arts in the Park.
June 7, 2014 Stearns County Breakfast on the Farm - Melrose, Minnesota
A hands-on, educational event designed to help people of all ages learn more about the farms and farm families that produce our food. Breakfast on the Farm is held at a working dairy farm, giving visitors an opportunity to see firsthand where milk comes from. But the Breakfast is about more than dairy farms. Stearns County's other agricultural industries – beef, swine, sheep, goats, poultry, and crops – are showcased at the Breakfast through exhibits and activities, including a farm animal petting zoo and farm tour.
June 7, 2014 The Rhubarb Festival - Lanesboro, Minnesota
Celebrate Rhubarb, Minnesota's sweet-tart favorite. Free tasting of rhubarb delights, Rhubarb Games for all ages, Rhubarb Rant Speaker's Corner and rhubarb growing contest. The Rhubarb Sisters will entertain you with song and also singing this year will be the Rutabaga Brothers.
June 7, 2014 St. Paul Summer Beer Fest - St. Paul, Minnesota
Dedicated to craft beers, this 6th annual outdoor festival will feature sampling from 100 breweries in a commemorative tasting glass, live music, food, educational seminars, a silent auction benefiting the YMCA of St. Paul, and the fun atmosphere of MN State Fairgrounds.
June 7-8, 2014 June Bloom Wine Event - Various, Minnesota
Enjoy a long weekend of romance and adventure on the Great River Road Wine Trail! This special event presents ample opportunities to sample fine food and wine, from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. Each winery on the Great River Road Wine Trail will feature their award winning wines and ciders paired with an array of local foods designed with gourmet flair. In addition to local foods, some wineries will also feature live music by local talent. Registration at the event is $30 per person. Each ticket holder will receive a wine trail glass and a six-bottle wine tote at the first winery visited. Their ticket and wine glass will entitle the holder to free wine and food tasting at each winery. You can pay for your ticket at the winery or online, using PayPal. Online purchasers should bring their PayPal receipt to the first winery visited. Plan to enjoy the event for the entire weekend, and visit all 11 wineries! Start as far away as you can, and work your way home! The Winona and La Crosse area is fairly centrally located on the trail and home of may fine B&B’s, guest houses, and motels. Book early this fill up during weekend events. Please have a designated driver (sorry no wine tasting, but a lot of great local food). Designated driver tickets are $10 per person.
June 7 & 21, 2014 Bread Making Day - Preston, Minnesota
Historic Forestville in Preston. Bread is the staff of life and is the most widely consumed food in the world. Step back into 1899 and observe costumed guides as they complete the weekly task of bread making. Nineteenth-century techniques of bread making will be showcased with opportunities for hands on participation. Bread-making process from start to finish is an all-day event with the mixing beginning at 10 a.m. and the finished product coming out of the oven around 3 p.m.
June 12-15, 2014 Tater Daze - Brooklyn Park, Minnesota
Tater Daze is a unique festival where residents pay homage to the humble potato. Early settlers discovered that potatoes flourished in the flat, sandy soil of the area. Through the Great Depression, drought and urbanization, Brooklyn Park has shown its strength as a community willing to work together and make our city a welcoming place for everyone.
June 13-14, 2014 Wannigan Days - Taylors Falls, Minnesota
Taylor Falls, MN and St Croix Falls, WI. 'Wannigan' is an Indian word for a lumberman's floating cook shack. Events include the Interstate Wannigan Parade, street dance, touring 1855 Folsom House Museum, riverboat cruises, tug of war across the St. Croix River, food, music, craft fair and more. Decadent desserts and champagne will be served at what has become the kick-off to the Shakespeare Festival and the summer social and arts season. This event is a wonderful way to get to know the actors and crew of the Festival, get a sneak peek at scenes from the plays this season, catch-up with old friends, and spend time in stunning surroundings.

Historic Forestville in Preston. Butter has been used for more than 4,000 years. For many years, butter was only produced in the home. During the 19th century, many farm wives supplemented farm income by selling butter. They churned every day or so, or whenever enough cream had accumulated. Step back into 1899 and observe costumed guides as they complete the weekly task of butter churning. Nineteenth-century traditional techniques of churning will be showcased with opportunities for hands on participation.

A festival dedicated to the enjoyment of craft beer with over 50 different beers from some great craft breweries available for sampling, food vendors, and live entertainment. Proceeds will benefit Lions Club projects in Winnebago.
