JULY 4, 2012 - There are so many events on this day that they are too numerous to list. Virtually every community in the U.S. has a 4th of July celebration.
July 6-7, 2012 82nd Corn & Clover Carnival - Hinckley, Minnesota Huge Midway, Bingo, lots of food. Celebrating 100 years from the very first carnival. This will be the 81st carnival - as there were several years the carnival was not held due to the Depression.
July 6-8, 2012 Deer's Annual Wild Rice Festival - Deer River, Minnesota The World's Largest Wild Rice Festival, for over 60 years, a celebration of the abundance of wild rice, one of the area's natural staples.
July 7-15, 2012 78th Annual Raspberry Festival - Hopkins, Minnesota A Tradition Preserved. The festival features a search for the Golden Raspberry, the Grande Day Parade, a Family Day and much more.
July 7, 2012 Caledonia Rotary Bluff Country BrewFest - Caledonia, Minnesota Beer Tasting of Craft/Micro/Specialty Beers. 15+ Breweries represented with 50+ different brews as well as vittles and Spring Grove Bottling Works soda.
July 10-11, 2012 Beanhole Days and Arts & Crafts Fair - Pequot Lakes, Minnesota Burying of the Beans Ceremony is held every July. The beans, prepared by secret recipe behind locked doors, are buried in huge cast iron kettles and cooked over a wood fire for 24 hours.
July 12, 2012 50th Annual Hot Dog Night - Luverne, Minnesota Local merchants grill over 10,000 hot dogs which are distributed free to participants. The event features wiener dog races and beauty pageant.
July 13-15, 2012 American Emu Association Nat'l Convention - Bloomington, Minnesota Emu farmers from across the United States and around the world will attend the 3 day 2012 American Emu Association (AEA) National Convention AEA members along with other emu growers, will meet for 3 days of education and demonstrations with a chance to meet new people and visit with old friends. The booth area, labeled the "EMU MALL", will be open to the public. The "EMU MALL" will offer the opportunity to browse booths that showcase emu related products such as leather, health/beauty products and emu egg art, while still others will offer farming merchandise or information. Also "Eggs'travaganza" Egg Art Contest. The focus of this year’s convention is "Continuing the Journey". Topics will include Feed, Industry Status, Profitability, Business Opportunities, Marketing and the Basics of Raising & Handling Emus.
July 14, 2012 The Great Minnesota Pie Extravaganza - Grand Rapids, Minnesota A good cook and plenty of food held a logging camp together. While meat, potatoes, and beans were the cook shack staples, it was the pies the men loved most. Held at the Forest History Center, this event allows visitors to contrast pies served in the logging camps with modern day creations.
July 14-15, 2012 14th Annual Raspberries & Wine Festival - Chisago City, Minnesota Celebrate summer at Winehaven with hourly vineyard tours, complimentary wine tasting and lunch at the vineyard. We will also be releasing our new batch of Raspberry Wine!
July 19-22, 2012 Wannigan Days - Taylors Falls, Minnesota 54th annual Wannigan Days weekend celebration. Taylor Falls, MN and St Croix Falls, WI. 'Wannigan' is an Indian word for a lumberman's floating cook shack. Events include the Interstate Wannigan Parade, street dance, touring 1855 Folsom House Museum, riverboat cruises, tug of war across the St. Croix River, food, music, craft fair and more. July 20-21, 2012 62nd Annual Muskie Days - Nevis, Minnesota Celebration includes kids' activities, flea market, parade, scavenger hunt, carnival games, beer garden and street dance.
July 20-22, 2012 5th Annual Middle Eastern Festival - West St. Paul, Minnesota St. George Church. Highlights include Middle Eastern cuisine, live entertainment, a traditional marketplace, games for children and camel rides. Admission is free. The menu includes: roast lamb on the spit, chicken kabobs, kafta, falafel, hummus, gyros, tabouli, delicious pastries and the church's famous Syrian bread. Beer, wine and soft drinks will also be served. The John Khoury Band will play and the church's dance group will perform the traditional Dabke dance.
July 21, 2012 Summer Beer Dabbler at Highland Fest - St. Paul, Minnesota An afternoon of craft beer sampling from more than 50 local, regional and national breweries as well as performances by local bands, home brew competition, beer education, gourmet food trucks, games and activities.
July 21, 2012 Northbound Summer Brew Fest - Duluth, Minnesota Presented by the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild--takes place in Bayfront Festival Park.
