August 6-7, 2011  Family Farm Festival - Apple Valley, Minnesota
Enjoy some good old fashioned fun during Family Farm Festival at the Minnesota Zoo's Wells Fargo Farm. There will be music and kids' activities each day.

August 6-7, 2011  Pioneer Power Threshing Show - Hanley Falls, Minnesota
The Minnesota Machinery Museum. Come see antique tractors and engines, a pedal pull, antique automobiles, a craft show, flea market, food, music, a saw mill, and a threshing machinery parade.

August 7, 2011  Taste of Dorset - Dorset, Minnesota
'Restaurant Capital of the World'. Food fest, family entertainment, music, games. Dorset is the Place to Be! One day food extravaganza set in a town square-like atmosphere.

August 7-15, 2011  Stockyard Days - New Brighton, Minnesota
Recall the early days of New Brighton as a center for the cattle industry including the stockyards, railroads, fashionable hotels and meatpacking plants. Events include concerts, tournaments, a parade, street dances, a carnival, food sampling, fireworks and more.

August 12, 2011  13th Annual Taste of Longville - Longville, Minnesota
The restaurants and non-profit organizations will provide food for hungry vacationers and residents. While filling your tummy, you can also fill your "soul" as there will also be Music, Arts and Crafts by the Longville Lakes Arts Alliance.

August 13, 2011  6th Annual Minnesota Garlic Festival - Hutchinson, Minnesota
Minnesota Garlic Festival is the premier event for lovers of garlic, great local foods and good times! August 13, 2011  3rd Annual Blue Collar BBQ & Art Fest - Faribault, Minnesota
Featured will be a BBQ contest, art fair, bar stool racing, live music, community talent contest, kids activity area, dunk tank, mullet contest, bingo, beer gardens, and more!
 

 


August 13, 2011  4th Annual Chokecherry Festival - Pequot Lakes, Minnesota
Featured will be a firemen’s pancake breakfast with lots of chokecherry syrup. In addition, enjoy an arts and crafts fair, children’s games and activities, a chokecherry culinary contest, pit spitting contest, water wars, bocce ball, and a talent show.

August 17-21, 2011  Corn on the Cob Days - Plainview, Minnesota
Dances, children’s games, a large parade, live music, BBQ Chicken dinner, a Gopher Count reunion, and quirky tractor games. Don’t miss the free sweet corn, dripping with butter. Attendance: 15,000

August 18-20, 2011  Ox Cart Days - Crookston, Minnesota
Home of the world's largest oxcart. In the days before railroads, long trains of huge oxcarts hauled trade and agricultural goods from the fertile lands surrounding Crookston. Parade, kids' tractor pull, corn and brat feed, battle of the bands, ice cream social.

Highlights include a parade, races and games, free hot buttered sweet corn, live music, art show, air show, car show, boat rides, a sailing regatta, street dance, fireworks display, pancake and waffle breakfasts, chuckwagon supper, ice cream social, and much more!

August 19-21, 2011  50th Annual Turkey Days - Ulen, Minnesota
50th Annual Ulen Turkey BBQ. Children's Theatre, talent show, teen dance, fireworks, 5k walk/run, old timers softball game, street fair, car show, parade, meal, and more!

August 20, 2011  Pickle It - Preston, Minnesota
Located at Historic Forestville in Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park. Visitors can observe or help out in this late summer program by assisting the gardener with the harvesting of heirloom vegetables from the garden. These vegetables will be brought to the kitchen and clean and processed using traditional pickling methods.

August 20, 2011  Watermelon Day - Vining, Minnesota
Craft show, children's games, petting zoo, food, bingo, musical entertainment, free watermelon. 3rd Saturday each August. See the giant watermelon sculpture at the Vining Sculpture Park. Attendance: 3,500.

August 21, 2011  The Homegrown Experience - Minneapolis, Minnesota
The Homegrown Experience will focus on sustainability, connecting people to the land and providing healthy and enjoyable experiences. The event will feature chef demonstrations, local restaurants, farmers, CSAs, co-ops, food producers, local vintners and brewers, as well as an outdoor Farmers Market. Participants will be able to sip, sample, purchase and learn about local, sustainable and organic foods.

August 25-Sept 5, 2011  Eco Experience - Minnesota State Fair, St Paul, Minnesota
12 days of healthy local foods in the EcoExperience at the Minnesota State Fair. 48 cooking demos - over 100 food samplers - photo essay of three sustainable farms - food film screenings - and a different food theme every day! (also: www.mnstatefair.org/entertainment/eco_experience.html )

August 26-27, 2011  Big Island BBQ Competition and Cook Off - Albert Lea, Minnesota
Experience the sights, sounds, smells, and taste of all things BBQ at the 4th annual Big Island Bar-B-Que.

August 26-27, 2011  Potato Days Festival - Barnesville, Minnesota
Two days of zany potato activities, taste tempting potato specialties and small town hospitality. Over 17,000 tater lovers descend each year from across the country to this town of 2,200. Often selected as one of the best summer festivals in the nation. Mashed potato wrestling, Miss Tator Tot Pageant; picking, peeling, carving, cooking and sacking potatoes. Norwegian lefse, potato pancakes, french fries, potato sausage, potato soup, German potato dumplings. Attendance: 17,000.

August 27, 2011  The Street Fest on 7th - Brainerd, Minnesota
Formerly known as the Great Northern BBQ.  The award winning Street Fest will start at noon with eating contests, cooking demonstrations, and vendors.  Live music starts in the afternoon and goes until midnight. And after you’ve worked up an appetite, stick around for the Cub Foods Rib Fest from 7 p.m. until gone.

August 27-28, 2011  46th Annual Threshing Bee - Donnelly, Minnesota
Threshing, engines, antique tractors and machinery, horse and pony pull contests, a rural school, shingle mill and lumber sawing, tractor pull contests, plowing demonstrations, a classic car show and softball tournament.

August 27-28, 2011  19th Annual Webster Harvest Days - Webster, Minnesota
One of the only local parades with Airplane Flyovers!  We also have Tractor Pulls, Pie Contests, Polka Band, Guitar Hero, Twister, and much much more!  A family event for all ages!

August 28, 2011  Minnesota Cooks - St. Paul, Minnesota
Minnesota Farmers Union and Food Alliance Midwest Present Minnesota Cooks, a Local and Sustainable Foods Cooking Event at the State Fair. Now in its 9th year, Minnesota Cooks is poised to host a celebration about the relationships between premier Minnesota chefs and cooks, local farmers, and consumers with a full day of demonstrations, discussions, and sampling of delicious, sustainable cuisine.
