September 17, 2016 Annual Autumn Brew Review
This annual outdoor fall festival is one of the biggest beer festivals in the state, with 100+ breweries from all over the U.S. entertaining and educating 3,000 attendees on the great craft beer brewed in this state and beyond. ABR also has live music and food trucks to enhance the lively atmosphere brought by attendees at this Minneapolis favorite.
September 4-6, 2015 Annual Wild Rice Days - McGregor, Minnesota
Highlights include music, arts and crafts, a parade, prizes, wild rice education tent, family fun run & walk, an antique car show, kiddie parade, corn feed, wild rice pancake breakfast, and a book sale at the library.

September 6, 2015 Porktoberfest Block Party - Minneapolis, Minnesota
Day Block Brewing will be hosting PorktoberFest, an end-of-summer block party at their property located off Washington Avenue and 11th Avenue in the Downtown Minneapolis Mill District. The all-day event will emphasize local food-namely pork selections-as well as several vegetarian options. In addition, there will be plenty of craft beer and a full schedule of live music, which will begin at 2:00pm. This event will be held in the shared Day Block Brewing/Grumpy’s Bar lot located on the South side of the Day Block Building. Limited free parking will also be available. Food selections include Pork Beer Brats & Sauerkraut, Pork Shank “Wings”, Korean Pork Belly Sliders, Bacon Steak “BLT” Sandwiches & Carolina BBQ Pork Chops on a Stick. For vegetarians, we'll also have Portabella Cap Sandwiches, Giant Pretzels & Beer Cheese, Giant Pickle on a Stick, Corn on the Cob w/ Compound Butter &Seasonal Grilled Vegetable Hash.

This festival takes place along the Mississippi River and has a vintage tractor ride, soap box derby, chicken-que, music and parade. Always a good time!

Bacon and Beer Classic
The Bacon and Beer Classic is a one-of-a-kind event hosted inside baseball parks and stadiums across America. It is a premier experience focused on traditions where one’s nostalgia of baseball meets their love for bacon and beer. As the attendees walk through the stadium they will get a taste of history through the hundreds of craft brew samples and mouth-watering bacon-inspired tastes local restaurants cook up. Music will get people dancing, interactive games will bring out their inner kid, and the cooking demos and beer schools will teach everyone – from the expert to the novice – a thing or two about bacon and beer. All of our events are all inclusive! From the moment you walk into the park, it's all about the experience, and not about opening up your wallet.

Saint Croix Vineyards. It’s free and fun for the whole family! Take a turn stomping grapes the old-fashioned way or let your kids give it a try. Prizes will be awarded to those with the best grape-stomping style (as determined by audience applause). Bring a picnic, take a tour of the vineyard and winery, listen to live music, and, of course, enjoy our award-winning wines! Grape stomping competitions for both kids and adults will be held at approximately 1:00, 3:00, and 5:00 each day. A drawing will be held to determine who will compete in the competitions…please enter your name in the drawing when you arrive. Don’t worry if you are not chosen to compete, everyone will get a chance to stomp grapes between competitions.

Getting to Know Weird Vegetables from the Farmers Market

Kris James, Culinary Herbalist and Instructor, accomplished chef, cookbook author Fall harvest produce is flavor and nutrient-rich and some are strangers to us! Are you curious about some of the unfamiliar produce you see beautifully displayed at the market but haven't a clue what they are or what to do with them? These produce underdogs are undiscovered gems. In class we'll ask, "What the heck is this?" and actually get answers! You'll learn how to prepare and cook with them. When you taste these in Kris's recipes you'll want to go back for more. Could include unusual and uncommon fellows such as Chayote Squash, (also known as Buddha's Hand or a Mirliton), Burdock root, turmeric root, black garlic, and more.
