October 1, 2011  Yorktown Wine Festival - Historic Yorktown, Virginia
This event, held at Yorktown Riverwalk Landing, will showcase some of Virginia's finest wineries.

October 1, 2011  VTRCC Oktoberfest - Vienna, Virginia
Enjoy live music, food, beer garden, free children's activities, children's entertainment stage, and a huge festival marketplace.  Takes place on the Town Green and historic Church Street. Vienna Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce.
 

 

October 1-2, 2011  Richmond Original Italian Street Festival - Richmond, Virginia
7th Annual Italian Festival has something for everyone including the Best Italian Food vendors, Entertainment, Children's Area complete with Clown, face-painting, balloon creatures, petting zoo, a large cultural exhibit, wines from Italy, lemoncello. This is a non-profit fund raising event. This year's recipients are The Fisher House that provides housing for families of Veterans receiving treatment at our VA Hospital, Virginia Commonwealth University's Italian Studies Program, and the Tuckahoe Rescue Squad...all worthy of our support.

October 3-9, 2011  Virginia Beach Wine Week - Virginia Beach, Virginia
Participating restaurants will offer Virginia wine specials and flights including wines both by the glass and bottle paired with menus items specially created for the event. Dinners and seminars will be held throughout Wine Week, to include evenings with winemakers from various vineyards across Virginia.

October 6-9, 2011  34th Annual Suffolk Peanut Festival - Suffolk, Virginia
This family-friendly event honors the city”s agriculture heritage and devotion to peanuts, our favorite legumes. With something for everyone, the festival is host to as many as 200,000 visitors over four days. Attendance: 200,000.

October 8, 2011  Taste of Brunswick Festival - Alberta, Virginia
According to legend, Brunswick Stew was invented in Virginia in the 1830's as a concoction of squirrel, onions and stale bread. In today’s version chicken has replaced squirrel and the stew is rounded out with corn, tomatoes, butterbeans, and other vegetables. Each year in Alberta (Brunswick County, Va.) some 20 stewmasters vie for top honors – to the delight of thousands.

October 15, 2011  Bowling Green Harvest Festival - Bowling Green, Virginia
175 vendors line Main Street while bands and community groups perform on the stage across from the courthouse. Kids can join in the fun with pumpkin painting, face painting, magicians, rides, and games. There's also a car show, motorcycle show, antique tractors, plenty of local food and fun! Attendance: 10,000.

October 15-16, 2011  24th Annual Town Point Virginia Wine Festival - Norfolk, Virginia
Join us along the Downtown Norfolk waterfront for one of the state's largest outdoor wine festivals featuring more than 30 Virginia wineries providing a sampling of wines available for purchase by the glass, bottle or case.  Also enjoy gourmet, made-in-Virginia food items, specialty crafts, and live musical entertainment.
