August 3-6, 2017  Animal Rights National Conference
Alexandria, Virginia
The world's largest and longest-running event of its kind will take at the Hilton Mark Center in Alexandria, just outside of the nations capital. The conference attracts more than a thousand newcomers and longtime activists alike who join together to learn, network, and get inspired.  Our exciting program will feature special sessions connecting animal agriculture and climate change, as well as opportunities to shop from cruelty-free vendors, and enjoy delicious vegan food.

August 5, 2017  24th Annual Blackberry Harvest & Music Festival
Nelson County, Virginia
Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery. Family festivities including live music and crafts. Pick your own blackberries or taste wine. Pig pickin' meal available.

August 12, 2017  6th Annual BBQ & Bluegrass - Purcellville, Virginia
Say farewell to summer with a relaxing and fun-filled afternoon at Breaux Vineyards from 11am-6pm.  Experience our Annual BBQ & Bluegrass with wine tastings, BBQ, craft vendors, and live bluegrass music all day long.  No admission fee or reservation required.  Event is rain or shine.  Dogs allowed outside, as long as they are friendly and on a leash.  Limited seating- lawn chairs and blankets recommended.

August 13, 2017 - 34th Annual Carytown Watermelon Festival
Richmond, Virginia
Imagine...115,000 people, over 3000 watermelons and you! With 60 musicians, over 100 exhibitors, one of the largest kids areas of any festival and all of the great Carytown style, the Watermelon Festival has become the largest one day festival in the state of Virginia.  Attendance: 115,000.

 

August 18, 2017  Annual Virginia Peach Festival
Stuart, Virginia
Music celebration, peach pageant, street fair, barbeque, peach ice cream, and orchard tours. We are excited to announce that once again this year we will be at Wayside Park  No Admission Charge and Camping is available.  Free parking.

August 19, 2017  Eastmont Tomato Festival - Shawsville, Virginia
The schedule includes a parade, pageant, judging of tomatoes and tomato artwork, entertainment, the Tomato Olympics, farmer's market, arts & crafts, and free tomato tasting.

August 26-27, 2017 - Gluten Free Food Allergy Fest - Richmond, Virginia
We’re having a party and you’re invited!  Gluten Free & More (formerly Living Without) magazine wants you to know that living with a food allergy or sensitivity doesn’t need to be about deprivation and missing out.  On the contrary, what you’re living without is all the horrible symptoms and medical problems you had before understanding what allergens you needed to avoid.  So, come join us, over a hundred of our favorite exhibitors and thousands of our closest friends as we celebrate LIVING WELL!!   At every event, you get to sample tons of gluten-free, allergy-friendly foods, learn from experts in the community and hang out with others who understand our world.

August 29, 2015  Beer & Bacon Fest - Woodbridge, Virginia
The Festival is an All-You-Care-To-Taste extravaganza complete with the best craft beers for your tasting pleasure…and of course the food of the Gods: BACON.  Guests enjoy a souvenir glass plus 75+ of their favorite international beers and wines. VIP Admission will host over 10 restaurant tasting stations.  They will be on-hand vying for the $500 Best Bacon Dish Prize.  (VIP tasting included, general admission is ala carte.)  The VIP Session will host specialty beers.  There will be over 2 tons of gourmet bacons from all over the country will be griddled on-site (until 3pm).   The Main Stage will host live music all day.  A Butchering 101 Class will be hosted on the Main Stage!  All of this plus fun foodie exhibits and so much more!

August 17, 2014 - 3rd RVA Brew B Q - Richmond, Virginia
17th Street Farmer’s Market. RVA Brew B Q features some of the region’s most loved barbeque producers, from the well-known, to the hole-in-the-wall weekend barbeque warriors; you’ll be able to taste it all. After enjoying choices pulled, minced, smoked, saucy, vinegar-based, sweet, sandwiches, plates and more, wash down your favorite bites with cold suds from more than 15 local craft breweries.  The event is free to attend. Food and beverage are available for purchase.

August 27, 2011  Salsa Fest - Winchester, Virginia
Dance the night away to live Salsa music after you taste and vote for your favorite salsa food. Activities include: Best Tasting Salsa Competition (Professional, Amateur and People’s Choice categories), Live Salsa Music, Salsa Dance Instruction, Salsa Dancing Performances and “Salsa with the Stars” Dance Competition.

August 6, 2009  David & Prescott Gourmet Getaways - Hume, Virginia
Gourmet Getaways Author Joe David and Former PBS Chef Jill Prescott are offering a meat, seafood and desert food tasting paired with wine at the Philip Carter winery. The food will be served with, without sauce to demonstrate why non-traditional wine-food pairings are often recommended when sauces are added.
