September 2-5, 2011 Pinehurst Food and Wine Festival - Pinehurst, North Carolina The 28th annual celebration of food and wine, featuring wine competitions, daily wine seminars, culinary/cooking demonstrations from guest chefs, and gala food and wine dining events each night.
September 2-5, 2011 North Carolina Apple Festival - Hendersonville, North Carolina The North Carolina mountains are known for their apple orchards. In celebration of King Apple, music, a parade, and arts and crafts fill city streets. Many of the growers also feature items such as fried apple pies, apple cakes, apple butter and apple cider.
September 8-11, 2011 Ayden Collard Festival - Ayden, North Carolina Family festival with music, parade, golf, horseshoe & tennis tournaments, art show, collard cooking and eating contests.
September 9-10, 2011 9th Annual Blues, Brews & BBQ - Charlotte, North Carolina Approximately 80 teams compete for over $20,000 in prizes and supreme bragging rights. Teams decorate their areas with elaborate decoration, pig trophies added to their booths, and as one can imagine, clever and creative team names. While the BBQ competition is the main theme there is also a pigtastic festival taking place Friday & Saturday. Blues music, an array of beer samples, and some of the best barbecue you will find anywhere. The best of southern cuisine and southern music.
