June 1, 2012 Livermush Festival - Marion, North Carolina
Celebrates the omnipresent North Carolina food staple livermush, which is traditionally made from pig liver, head parts, cornmeal, pepper and sage. The mixture is made into a loaf and fried. It is closely related to another Southern dish, scrapple, which is made from meat broth and cornmeal. The event includes a Little Miss Livermush Contest and the popular Livermush Toss, music and a livermush cooking contest.
June 1-2, 2012 10th Annual Cherokee Gourd Artists Gathering - Cherokee, North Carolina
The Cherokee Reservation, nestled at the foot of the Smoky Mountains, is awe-inspiring in itself. The facilities at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds where the event is held lends itself well to a bunch of enthusiastic gourd artists. Everywhere you look, there’s nothing but gourding activities going on. Classes, demonstrations, inspiring displays of finished art, vendors with everything from A-to-Z and back again, and piles and piles of top-quality raw gourds to choose from.

June 1-2, 2012 Annual Lincolnton Hog Happenin - Lincolnton, North Carolina
The Hog Happenin' is a regional bike fest and Kansas City Barbeque Society Sanctioned North Carolina State Championship Barbeque Cook-off that brings motorcycle and barbeque lovers together in downtown Lincolnton. While there are many hog events throughout North Carolina, Lincolnton was the first to combine the animal with the mechanical.

June 22-23, 2012 Peak City Pig Fest - Apex, North Carolina
Historic Apex, a community situated at the highest point on the Chatham Railroad between Richmond, VA and Jacksonville FL, hosts the KCBS sactioned BBQ competition. Teams from all over the country will compete for prize money cooking chicken, ribs, beef brisket and pork. Attendance: 10,000.
