Charlotte, North Carolina
Over 200 Wines, Over 20 Wineries, Great Live Music and Wonderful Food and Crafts

October 12-13, 2013  Swansboro Mullet Festival - Swansboro, North Carolina
This annual event includes a parade, music, vendors, arts & crafts, kids' area and of course a mullet fry.

October 17-27, 2013  North Carolina State Fair - Raleigh, North Carolina
Come and enjoy "A Bumper Crop of Fun"--concerts, livestock displays and competitions, antique farm machinery, flower & garden show, miniature farm for children, village of yesteryear, "buy local, eat local" tent, and much more!
Attendance: 1 million.

October 19, 2013  Shelby Fall Liver Mush Expo - Shelby, North Carolina
The Official State of North Carolina Fall Liver Mush Festival.  Join in the fun with a traditional food festival that has something for everyone. Of course there is Liver Mush to sample, with a variety of preparations and choices. There is a fall festival of children's activities on the Court Square with Uptown Shelby Association and volunteers offering craft and fun activities for the kids. Pet owners will appreciate the Pet Festival on Warren Street, with contests and educational offerings for pets and their humans. Then you can shop at the Foothills Farmers Market like every Saturday.

October 26, 2013  30th Annual Barbecue Festival - Lexington, North Carolina

A celebration of food, music, entertainment and arts with an international twist. Restaurant food sampling and demonstrations, wine tasting pavilion,and beer tasting garden.

October 5-6, 2012  Enfield Peanut Festival - Enfield, North Carolina
Let's get nutty! Don't miss the annual Enfield Peanut Festival! The 2012 Enfield Peanut Festival will be held on Friday, October 5th from 6 pm until 9 pm with a block party. Vendors and entertainment will be held on Saturday, October 6th beginning at 12 noon till 9 pm.

October 5-7, 2012  North Carolina Seafood Festival - Morehead City, North Carolina
The weekend will include all of the following: seafood sampling, cooking demonstration by highly renowned chefs, seafood vendors, boat show, ship tours, entertainment on four stages, playground for kids, over 150 arts & crafts vendors, sporting events, rides, fireworks and Blessing of the Fleet.

October 6, 2012  17th World Beer Festival--Durham - Durham, North Carolina
Presented by All About Beer Magazine, the World Beer Festivals are among the premier beer events in the country, with sampling of beers from over 100 breweries, education, and the best local music and food. Part of the proceeds will benefit a local cause.

October 6, 2012  Brushy Mountain Apple Festival - North Wilkesboro, North Carolina
This festival pays tribute to the fruit grown and harvested each fall by apple orchardists from Northwestern North Carolina. Local apple growers set up throughout the festival selling their apples, apple cider, and dried apples. Over 425 arts & crafts vendors highlighting Appalachian heritage crafts, 100 food concessions, and four music stages. Attendance: 160,000.

October 6, 2012  33rd Annual Sonker Festival - Mt. Airy, North Carolina
Don't know what sonker is? Then come to this annual festival and find out how delicious this deep dish fruit pie can be! Old-time and bluegrass music, quilt display, weaving, Scottish heritage, sonker, beverages, coffee. Presented by the Surry County Historical Society.

October 6, 2012  Halifax County Harvest Day - Halifax, North Carolina

October 12-13, 2012  10th Annual BBQ & Blues - Charlotte, North Carolina
It’s a Carolina good time with great food, great fun and great music! It will be a rockin’ 2 days of beer drinking, pork eating and shaking your pig tail at the Official Memphis BBQ Network Championship Cook-Off!

October 20, 2012  Outer Banks Seafood Festival - Nag's Head, North Carolina
The event features top draw entertainment mixed with great cooking of fresh, local seafood, a bit of education and storytelling about the region’s fishing heritage, cooking demonstrations, local craftspeople and a whole lot of family fun. Nearly 20 local restaurants have committed to serve their signature dishes featuring fish and seafood caught along the Outer Banks – resulting in an unmatched “fusion-style” (small portion sizes) sampling from some of the best restaurants on the beach.

October 20, 2012  Taylorsville Apple Festival - Taylorsville, North Carolina
The festival provides a fantastic assortment of entertainment, food and vendors. In honor of the Apple there are an apple peeling contest, an apple dessert contest, an apple theme booth decorating contest, and of course lots of apple vendors from which to buy cider, a large variety of bagged apples, etc. Attendance: 35,000.

Wine tasting, motorcycle tour of the vineyards and chili cook-off.

October 20, 2012  Pumpkinfest - Franklin, North Carolina
You'll need your rest as Saturday's events bring new challenges and fun for everyone. Historic Downtown Franklin is full tilt with everything pumpkin on Saturday. Bring your pumpkin (or purchase one downtown) and sign up early for the World Famous Pumpkin Roll. The Costume Parade and Contest is another highlight of the day, but don't miss out on the great food, mountain arts & crafts, and entertainment including roving street performers.

October 20, 2012  Lake Norman Wine & Food Festival - Cornelius, North Carolina
Taste over 60 different wines from a dozen wineries and sample some of the region's best food, while helping support three deserving charities. Includes wine lectures and cooking demonstrations.

October 20-21, 2012  32nd  Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival - Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina
The coastal waters of Brunswick County produce an abundance of oysters and each year 30,000 people pay homage to the mighty mollusk at this annual event, which includes live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, festival food, a road race, kids' area, oyster shucking and an oyster stew cook-off.

October 25-27, 2012  NAMA Annual Meeting - Asheville, North Carolina
North American Millers' Association.  The North American Millers' Association (NAMA) is the trade association of the wheat, corn, oat and rye milling industries. Member companies operate mills in 38 states and Canada, representing more than 90 percent of total industry production capacity.

October 27, 2012  NC Yam Festival - Tabor City, North Carolina
This agricultural festival includes a yam cook-off, yam exhibits, parade, Taste of Tabor, fire fighter competition, sweet potato auction, kids' area, arts & crafts and many more activities.

Benefits the community of Pelham by supporting the Pelham Volunteer Fire Department.  Arts, Crafts, Kids games/rides, face painting, hay rides, clowns, special appearances, giveaways/door prizes, live bands. October 3, 2009  The Asheville Tourists Fall Festival and Chili Cook-Off - Asheville, NC
Asheville Tourists will host a Fall Festival and Chili Cook-off at McCormick Field, featuring more than 30 different styles of chili, live music from three bands, and affordable fun for the whole family. Tickets will be available at the McCormick Field box office as well as ticketmaster.com.
