The "World's Fair of Pure Food"  Sonoma County Fairgrounds.  Come and see over 3000 varieties of heirloom produce—from every state. With more than 100 speakers and 300 natural food vendors, this is the world's largest heritage food event. The Exposition creates awareness on issues surrounding 'pure food'. Proceeds from this not-for-profit event benefit school gardens and other food programs.  Attendance: 18,000.

September , 2021  Kelseyville Pear Festival - Kelseyville, California
EVENT CANCELED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS.  HOWEVER, SOME KEY COMPONENTS WILL TAKE PLACE - SEE WEBSITE FOR DETAILS.  Kelseyville celebrates 25+ years of living agriculture heritage with a celebration that is a FREE fun-filled family day.  Pear ice cream, pear pies, shakes, pear tasting and pear margaritas are fun to try.  A fiercely competitve pear dessert contest is held the day before. New this year is the Wine Tasting Tent feature Lake County specialties.   Three performance stages, antique farm equipment, a Horse Faire, and Kid’s Town. Start the day with a country breakfast at the Kelseyville Fire House at 7:00 am and then the parade down Main Street at 9:30 am.  Attendance: 10,000.

Barbera is becoming more and more popular in California. Many California producers offer a varietal Barbera. Barbera is a great food wine yet quite enjoyable on its own. Still, Barbera remains fairly obscure. The festival aims to bring Barbera to the attention of the general wine buying public. The event includes more than 70 California wineries, gourmet food, live music and local artists.

The Fair Oaks Chicken Festival is a celebration of our rural history and present village atmosphere.  The Village of Fair Oaks, colonized around 1895, was home to orange and citrus groves as well as olive orchards and assorted farm animals and, without a doubt, chickens were among them.  Today the Fair Oaks chickens enjoy the freedom and hospitality of the village they call home.  Attendance: 15,000

On the final Sunday of September, locals and visitors from around the area come to Rough and Ready to enjoy our annual Chili Cook-off.  Formerly a sanctioned event, the town decided, in 2004, to “ secede”  from the International Chili Society and do it Rough and Ready Style, with Rough and Ready Rules!  Now, any individual or group can sign up to cook their version of the world’s best chili.  Starting at 11:30, tasting kits are sold for $5, allowing visitors to sample each pot and vote for their favorite.  Cookers win cash prizes for best chili, while guests enjoy the fun and laughter of the Fruit Jar Pickers, shop at the crafters’ booths, participate in the Hoot ‘n Holler contest, enter the prize raffles and watch our town Blacksmith exhibit his talents.
