A celebration of harvest featuring three full days of wine tasting with 150+ wineries, wine sales, chef demonstrations, microbrew tasting (Saturday only), farm and harvest agricultural activities for children and adults, the World Championship Grape Stomp, continuous live jazz, an art show, crafters pavilion, farm animals to meet, and much more.
October 5, 2013 Loomis Eggplant Festival - Loomis, California
The 26th annual festival will offer music, games, refreshments, arts & crafts, and eggplant! Try unique eggplant dishes and enter the recipe contest.
October 5, 2013 20th Calaveras Grape Stomp - Murphys, California
25 pounds of wine grapes freshly picked, a half wine barrel fitted with a spout, a partner and you. More than 100 teams throughout the state and beyond compete each year to vie for the prestigious 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. Stomp competitions take place every half hour. The team, comprised of one stomper and one mucker (the juice collector), have three minutes to extract as much juice from 25 pounds of wine grapes as possible. And of course… lots of Award Winning Calaveras Wine and delicious foods!

36 member wineries of the Amador Vintners will host the annual Harvest Wine Festival. For two days during the heart of the grape harvest season, Amador aficionados can partake of great wine, food, music and other harvest festivities.

It's a fisherman's dream come true. The oldest Bass Derby on the West Coast will once again be highlighted at the Rio Vista Bass Festival. This year, anglers are able to choose between two fishing contests on the same ticket. Target lengths will be drawn at the start of the Derby early Friday morning for both Striped Bass and Sturgeon. Kids Derby: This is a family event and we welcome young anglers, up to but not including 16 years of age. Kids will be fishing for catfish and striped bass. The Beer Garden stage will light up with sounds from all genres including Rock & Roll, R&B, Soul, Pop, and Country Strong . We invite you to pull up a hay bale, sing , dance, eat, drink and have a good time partying with Rio Vista!

The World’s Greatest Gourd Growers and their astounding, mind-boggling, Volkswagen-sized orange orbs hope to squash the world record at the “Super Bowl of Weigh-Offs”—in the World Pumpkin Capital of Half Moon Bay, California. This year, event organizers are offering a new $25,000 mega-prize for the world’s first 1-ton pumpkin or $10,000 for a new world record at Half Moon Bay. A host of accomplished, grizzled veteran growers will contend for the coveted title, the $25,000 1-ton/world record prize and thousands of dollars in additional prize money. In a pay-by-the-pound system, the winner will take home a hefty $6 per pound for the champion mega-pumpkin.
