25 pounds of wine grapes freshly picked, a half wine barrel fitted with a spout, a partner and you. More than 100 teams throughout the state and beyond compete each year to vie for the prestigious 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. Stomp competitions take place every half hour. The team, comprised of one stomper and one mucker (the juice collector), have three minutes to extract as much juice from 25 pounds of wine grapes as possible. And of course… lots of Award Winning Calaveras Wine and delicious foods!

Sixth Annual Union Street Wine Walk. The Tasting program will run from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Tasting event will be located throughout Union Street from Gough to Steiner and on Fillmore Street from Union to Lombard and will include restaurants and merchants offering hors d'oeuvres and wine samples. The entire event is free to the public. Attendees wishing to participate in the sampling program may purchase on-site tickets for $30 or advance tickets for $25 via the website. The on-site tickets sales location is 2040 Union Street (across from the Metro Theater). Participants will receive a wine glass and map with all of the tasting locations. The World’s Greatest Gourd Growers and their astounding, mind-boggling, Volkswagen-sized orange orbs hope to squash the world record at the “Super Bowl of Weigh-Offs”—in the World Pumpkin Capital of Half Moon Bay, California.
