March 2, 2013  23rd Annual Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival
Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
It's a fabulous day of chocolate, with tastes galore, vendors, a raffle, kids games and much more!  At the heart of the festival is the chocolate Baking Contest.  The baking contest will feature more restaurant entries than ever before!  It's a fabulous day of chocolate, with tastes galore, vendors, a raffle, kids games and much more!

March 4-8, 2013  National School Breakfast Week 2013 - Nationwide
National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) was launched in 1989 to raise awareness of the availability of the School Breakfast Program (SBP) to all children. Each year, the School Nutrition Association (SNA) helps schools to celebrate NSBW with a fun theme – this year it is School Breakfast--Go For The Gold.

April 22, 2013  Earth Day - Worldwide
The first Earth Day on April 22, 1970, activated 20 million Americans from all walks of life and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. The passage of the landmark Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and many other groundbreaking environmental laws soon followed. Growing out of the first Earth Day, Earth Day Network (EDN) works with over 22,000 partners in 192 countries to broaden, diversify and mobilize the environmental movement. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world.

June 2-8, 2013  Restaurant Week 2013 - Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
Restaurant week features fabulous 3-course dinners all over town. Restaurants will be offering menus with $30 or $20 prix-fixe dinners for a full week in June.  Some restaurants are even serving special lunch menus at $10 & $15. Find your favorites, see what they are serving and when they are open. No matter your culinary favorites or what’s in your wallet, there are treats for your palate!

JULY 4, 2013 - There are so many events on this day that they are too numerous to list. Virtually every community in the U.S. has a 4th of July celebration.

July 18-27, 2013  Delaware State Fair - Harrington, Delaware
For nearly a century, the Delaware State Fair has hosted a wide variety of exhibits, with over 3,000,exhibitors competing in categories from Angus beef cattle to zinnias. Culinary competitions include the Blueberry Blow-out Contest, Crazy Over Cupcakes Contest, Homemade Ice Cream Making Contest, Wild Men & Women Cooking Contest, and More! Attendance: 300,000.

May 18-20, 2012  Peppers at the Beach 2012 - Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
Over 100 chefs from all over will be showing off their lines of products. Stop and chat with famous chefs who have been featured on Food Network. Included in the festivities will be chicken wing contests. This is a gathering of Chileheads at their best.

July 28, 2012  4th Annual Seafood & Arts Festival - Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
The Indian River Marina at Delaware Seashore State Park is hosting their 4th Annual Arts and Seafood Festival. Come for a day full of art, seafood, live music and more!

August 4, 2012  20th Annual Peach Festival - Wyoming, Delaware
Activities include a parade, live music, crafters, community displays, children's area, and peach dessert contest.
 

 

August 16, 2012  The Farmer And The Chef South 2012 - Millsboro, Delaware
It's the 1st Annual homegrown cook-off that you get to judge!   Local farmers and area chefs whip up the tastiest competition of the year.  The premise is simple, pair local farmers and local chefs.  While the event is a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, we also hope to help create sustainable relationships between farmers and chefs while reinforcing the movement of healthy eating.  Attendees will be able to cast their vote for their favorite dish.  Included in the evening's festivities are a silent auction and basket auction.

September 17-22, 2012  2012 Polish Festival - Wilmington, Delaware
Sponsored by St. Hedwig Parish and held along the city riverfront. Welcome to the Polish Festival--where great food and entertainment bring people together.

September 23, 2012  Wine and Dinosaurs - Wilmington, Delaware
A wine and beer tasting festival with fine wines, specialty beers, live music, hors d'oeuvres, and a silent auction to benefit the Delaware Museum of Natural History.

September 30, 2012  9th Annual Taste of Newark - Newark, Delaware
At the Taste of Newark event, guests have the opportunity to savor the culinary delights of more than 45 Newark restaurants, accompanied by the wares of the finest area wine distributors.  A feature of Taste of Newark is the Battle of the Chefs, now in its fourth year. The battle features the city’s best chefs, who will have one hour to concoct delectable masterpieces from a secret list of ingredients. Taste of Newark helps support University of Delaware's Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management and the Downtown Newark Partnership.

October 7, 2012  Celebrity Chefs’ Beach Brunch - Dewey Beach, Delaware
Slide on your flip flops and come enjoy the cuisine of top area chefs, fine wines & cocktails and a unique silent auction at the Rusty Rudder. Proceeds benefit Meals On Wheels Delaware.

October 12-13, 2012  21st Annual Bridgeville Apple-Scrapple Festival
Bridgeville, Delaware
Showcases the area's agriculture industry and celebrates Apples and Sussex County's favorite breakfast meat, Scrapple, a mainstay of the Bridgeville economy. Little Miss & Miss Apple Scrapple, ladies' skillet toss, 5K run, craft show, food, food, and more food! Attendance: 25,000.

October 21, 2012  Delaware Wine & Beer Festival - Felton, Delaware
Festival-goers will have the opportunity to meet Delaware’s vintners and brewers and talk about their locations, their products and their processes. Festival goers can listen to music, play horseshoes or volleyball and even participate in a "grape stomp."

November 2-4, 2012  World Championship Punkin Chunkin - Bridgeville, Delaware
Hardcore engineers and backyard tinkerers build their gigantic, home built contraptions with one common goal: to launch eight to 10-pound pumpkins as far as mechanically possible. The competition is divided into various categories depending on how the pumpkin is chucked: trebuchets, catapults, huge air cannons, human power, human power centrifugal class, and human power class. The World Championship Punkin Chunkin Association (WCPCA) is a nonprofit association started in 1986 that hosts the Punkin' Chunkin' World Championships, an event which raises money for scholarships and charitable organizations.
