May 6-30, 2016  Biscuit Art Exhibition 2016 - Knoxville, Tennessee
The International Biscuit Festival 2016 has begun accepting submissions for the Festival's Biscuit Art Exhibition. The exhibition will open May 6, 2016 in downtown Knoxville and will last through May 30, 2016.   The Biscuit Art Exhibition will feature artwork with a Biscuit theme. Previous winners have created a multitude of unique pieces, with Best in Show 2015 going to Tarrer Pace for his paper model "BnB." Submissions are open to all artists 18 or older and works may be created in all 2D and 3D media. The deadline for entries is March 25, 2016 at midnight.

May 14, 2015  Gatlinburg Beans 'n Cornbread Blast!
Gatlinburg, Tennessee
Gatlinburg celebrates its Appalachian culinary past with the Gatlinburg Beans 'n Cornbread Blast! presented by Bush Brothers Beans.  Downtown Gatlinburg will be transformed into a festive, fun-filled scene with games, foot-stompin' mountain bluegrass music and, of course, lots of Beans and Cornbread. Vendors will compete against each other with their special recipes and you get to help decide the winner! Compete to win in our first annual Corn Hole Tournament and at the same time help support our local Humane Society.  Bush Brothers Beans will be featured throughout the event. A small fee will allow participants to sample all the different recipes while supplies last. It will be a 'Rootin, Tootin, Good Time!'

The Southern Food Writing Conference celebrates the art and the craft of writing about food in the South.   Join our outstanding panel of speakers as we explore various facets of food in the South, from traditions of cookbooks and family recipes, to the connections of race, gender, income and the environment to the food traditions of the South.  You will interact with some of the legends of Southern food writing, and meet the next generation of the profession. Professionals from the worlds of newspapers, magazines, books and blogs will bring their perspectives on the current state of Southern food and those who write about it.   The conference is designed for both the writers and the readers of Southern food writing.  Food enthusiasts, professional journalists, food bloggers, as well as devotees of all things Southern will enjoy the two day program we have prepared for you.

May 14-15, 2015  Historic Rural Life Festival - Nashville, Tennessee
A great opportunity for children to discover the rural past of Tennessee, enjoy old-time activities, see honey bees in an observation beehive and touch farm animals too!  See the crafts and chores that were a routine part of farm life before the advent of electricity. Butter churning, spinning, blacksmithing, weaving and pottery making are just a few of the activities. You can stop under shade trees for shingle making and wood-working activities with Tennessee State Foresters. Don't miss the sheep shearing!

May 14-16, 2015  International Biscuit Festival - Knoxville, Tennessee
The International Biscuit Festival is a celebration of that most perfect of foods – the Biscuit.  The Festival combines food, fun and entertainment to create a unique destination event.  The International Biscuit Festival was begun in 2009 by a group of local Biscuit lovers who wanted to share Knoxville’s Biscuit heritage with the world.  What started as a fun gathering for friends and family has grown into a nationally recognized food festival.  In 2012, the Southern Food Writing Conference was added to the schedule to bring together authors, chefs, publishers, publicists and others who love Southern food and those who write about it.  Each year, the Conference brings together a stellar group of speakers in an intimate setting to share their passion for writing about food in the South.  Attendance: 20,000.

May 14-16, 2015  World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest
Memphis, Tennessee
The Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, the Granddaddy of Grilling...where on this given Saturday, it's anybody's game. Hundreds of teams compete for over $110,000 in prizes and supreme bragging rights. While grilling is the main theme, the contest wouldn't be complete without the Ms. Piggie Idol competition where grown men dress in tutus and snouts and women kick their heels (hooves) up. There is also a t-shirt competition and even a best booth contest.

The Ramp Festival is the oldest on-going festival in Tennessee, and every May, the festival celebrates the ramp, a vegetable of the lily family that looks like a little green onion, but, tastes like powerful garlic.
