October 1, 2016 - Octoberfest at Marlin’s Park - Miami, Florida
South Florida’s biggest Octoberfest returns to Miami once again for it’s third annual year.
For the past two years Octoberfest at Marlin’s Park, formerly known as BrickellFest, has executed the city’s most exciting examples of an Octoberfest party. This time, making it’s home at Marlins Park, the festival is set to be the largest and most extravagent illustration of the German tradition this city has ever seen. The event will include authentic German food, live music, carnival rides and games, and of coarse, plenty of different styles of beer to choose from.
October 1, 2016 - Right Whale Festival - Jacksonville Beach, Florida
The Right Whale Festival celebrates the annual return of the endangered North Atlantic right whales and the beginning of right whale calving season off the coast of northeast Florida and Georgia. It’s a fun and free outdoor event for all ages, and its also an opportunity to expand awareness about the threats to right whales such as accidental ship strikes and entanglement in fishing gear. Less than 500 right whales exist today and their home waters span the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S. and parts of Canada. Attendance: 5,000.

October 22, 2016 6th Annual Stone Crab Eating Contest
Stone Crab Eating Contest for amateur eaters. Contestants are tasked with cracking and eating 25 succulent stone crab claws, picking them completely clean in the fastest time. Although they are provided with shell crackers, entrants also can smack the shell gently with the back of a large spoon -- Keys residents' secret tool for claw cracking. Prizes for the top three finishers in the crab-consuming contest include two-night vacation getaways, gift certificates from Keys Fisheries Restaurant and a Dolphin Dip encounter at the Dolphin Research Center. Interested eaters are encouraged to register early. Individual participants and two-person teams can enter the test of crab-eating capacity. Fees are $50 per individual entrant and $100 per team.

October 4, 2015 9th Annual Sea Turtle Festival - St. Augustine, Florida
Keepers of the Coast host the Annual Sea Turtle Festival from noon to 5 p.m. at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. The family-oriented festival features live music, conservation and wildlife education tables, great food by Dirty Bird Winds, beer from SweetWater brewery and local art work from local artisans. We wish to back the efforts of the Franklin County Seafood Workers Association to gain support from the State of Florida for studies of the Apalachicola Bay in order to bring it back to its previous production levels.
