Flavors of Florida’s Historic Coast

Chefs on Florida’s Historic Coast are once again making history with signature dishes featuring local favorites and heritage-inspired flavors. From the elegant resorts of Ponte Vedra Beach to the Old World bistros in St. Augustine, dozens of participating restaurants will be presenting prix fixe (fixed price) three-course menus representative of their best culinary skills. October 4, 2014 Octoberfest at Marlin’s Park - Miami, Florida
South Florida’s biggest Octoberfest returns to Miami once again for it’s 3rd annual year. For the past two years Octoberfest at Marlin’s Park, formerly known as BrickellFest, has executed the city’s most exciting examples of an Octoberfest party. This time, making it’s home at Marlins Park, the festival is set to be the largest and most extravagent illustration of the German tradition this city has ever seen. The event will include authentic German food, live music, carnival rides and games, and of coarse, plenty of different styles of beer to choose from.

(Formerly Mighty Mullet Maritime Festival) The 2014 Big Bend Seafood Festival, a one-day outdoor event in Woolley Park located on the waterfront in Panacea, Florida. The Festival is a benefit for the Big Bend Maritime Center, a living museum that we are creating adjacent to Woolley Park to honor the maritime history and heritage of the Big Bend. So, mark your calendars now and submit your vendor booth application as soon as possible. Although there are plenty of great spots, we do assign them by the date your application is received. We will do our job on publicity and planning an exciting event with boating events, lots of games and contests for children and adults, maritime exhibits and demonstrations, and many other activities.

October 18, 2014 Grovetoberfest: Miami's Beer Festival - Miami, Florida
Beer enthusiasts from all over will converge at Peacock Park in Coconut Grove for Grovetoberfest - a festival that allows guests to sample over 300 great beers from across the country and the world. Aficionados and the “casual beer fan” will take an active role in beer sampling by voting for their favorite beers in three different categories. Entertainment stage. Homebrew Pavilion, a Kitchen Lab for beer/food pairings, a VIP area and a designated driver program. Attendance: 7,000.
October 18, 2014 4th Annual Stone Crab Eating Contest
Stone Crab Eating Contest for amateur eaters. Contestants are tasked with cracking and eating 25 succulent stone crab claws, picking them completely clean in the fastest time. Although they are provided with shell crackers, entrants also can smack the shell gently with the back of a large spoon -- Keys residents' secret tool for claw cracking. Prizes for the top three finishers in the crab-consuming contest include two-night vacation getaways, gift certificates from Keys Fisheries Restaurant and a Dolphin Dip encounter at the Dolphin Research Center. Interested eaters are encouraged to register early. The entry fee is $20 per contestant until Oct. 1 and $25 per person after that date. Contestants must be at least 18 years old.

Celebrate maritime history and a love of the sea at this two-day festival at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park. Events include the Quick and Dirty Boat Building Competition and Race, the Old City Bartending Challenge, educational exhibits, craft vendors, book signings, lecturers, a beer and wine tent, the Astillero de Perro Dog Agility Contest, Ponce de Leon Paddle Battle SUP Race, kids' activities, live music and the popular Saturday Night Minorcan Chowder and Pilau Party. The festival is 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets (includes admission to the Fountain of Youth) are Adults $12, Seniors $11, Children 6-12, $8 and free for those 6 and under.

This major event features well over 200 arts and crafts exhibits, and great local seafood food in City Park. There will be live musical entertainment at several places around town during the days and nights, and a parade on Saturday morning.
October 19, 2014 8th Annual Sea Turtle Festival - St. Augustine, Florida
Keepers of the Coast host the Annual Sea Turtle Festival from noon to 5 p.m. at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. The family-oriented festival features live music, conservation and wildlife education tables, great food by Dirty Bird Winds, beer from SweetWater brewery and local art work from local artisans. There is a suggested donation of $2 per person and all proceeds fund annual local beach clean-up efforts and summer education programs.
