After 11 years, Dessert-based Chocolate Decadence has evolved into a unique culinary extravaganza, FLAVORS OF BOCA! The 2013 Florida State Fair will showcase new and unique agricultural and cultural exhibits such as the new “Discovery Center,” a Tampa Bay History Center curated exhibit, and a traveling exhibit celebrating “Florida Agriculture: 500 Years in the Making” hosted by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Get a map at the entrance and explore the “ConquistaTOUR,” a self-guided adventure through the State Fair including the new Florida Cattlemen’s Ranching Museum, Florida’s Learning Garden and Cow Hunter’s Camp in Cracker Country. In addition, fairgoers will “Discover Florida” with a Broadway-style musical performance certain to please those who want to learn more about Florida. Also new this year, is a concert series, including Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas and the Bellamy Brothers, among others.

February 9, 2013 4th Annual Orlando Chili Cook-Off - Orlando , Florida
This premier chili competition is sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI). Since its inception, CASI has sanctioned thousands of Cook-offs and has raised millions of dollars for charities — and this tradition continues here in Orlando. The Orlando Chili Cook Off, which began as a small gathering of friends and chili-lovers, has now become a regional event attracting cooks and attendees throughout Central Florida and the southeastern states. Teams can win trophies and prizes for the best CASI chili or the best open chili categories. Also, a best-in-showmanship award will be presented for the most entertaining chili team.

For 46 years LaBelle has been celebrating swamp cabbage with a down-home festival. Sample dishes made with swamp cabbage (also known as hearts of palm), which comes from the state tree, the sabal or cabbage palm. February 24, 2013 A Celebration of Wine - Gainesville, Florida
Savor the flavor of wines from around the world as Florida's 89.1 WUFT-FM and 90.1 WJUF-FM present the 24th annual wine tasting and auction to benefit public radio in North Central and Mid Florida. This fundraising event features 300 wines for tasting and culinary treats, desserts, and specialty coffees. A silent auction runs through the wine tasting and the live auction begins at 3:30 p.m. The auction features a wide variety of treasures including wine, winery items, wine related art, trips, gift certificates and other collectibles. The event is appealing to both wine enthusiasts and novices. Winery representatives are on hand to discuss the finer points of the various offerings.
