Uncorked...Key Largo & Islamorada Food & Wine Festival
Upper Keys, Florida
Culinary and "how-to" cooking events pair the flavorful tastes of two Upper Keys areas together during Uncorked: the Key Largo and Islamorada Food and Wine Festival.  The 10-day food, wine and spirits celebration features 30-plus sensory events at Upper Keys venues.  Festival highlights include Lobsterfest at Key Largo Fisheries Backyard Café on Friday, with every-which-way lobster paired with wines, and the Keys' version of the popular television cooking show "Chopped" returning Sunday.  New this year is a Spanish-themed evening with celebrity guest Chef Norman Van Aken, accentuated by a flamenco show and a Dine-in-the-Dark experience with a five-course tapas menu.  Multiple Sunday brunch opportunities also are planned, as are several art-inspired food and wine events.  A junior chocolatiers' cooking class as well as an adults' Cabernet-Meets-Chocolate event are each to be held at Key Largo Chocolates. January 15-18, 2015  Annual Frog Leg Festival 2015 - Fellsmere, Florida

January 16-17, 2015  5th Annual Oyster Cook-Off - Apalachicola, Florida
Welcome to the Annual Oyster Cook-Off to benefit the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department! The event is held every year on the Friday and Saturday before Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in downtown Historic Apalachicola at Riverfront Park. All proceeds goes directly towards paying for the brand new fire truck they were able to purchase a few years ago, due to this sole fundraising event!  The event features a silent auction, oysters galore, shrimp, smoked mullet, hot dogs, hamburgers, local beer, live music, kids’ activities, dancing performances and a 5K run!  Enter your best recipe and be a contestant in the oyster cook-off or just come out and enjoy a day of wonderful food, refreshments and music.

 

January 16-25, 2015  DeSoto County Fair 2015 - Arcadia, Florida
Our Fair consists of pageants for the young ladies and talent shows for the youth and adults. In the barn, beef, swine, rabbit, poultry and goats are exhibited and judged. Beef and swine are sold at auction to benefit our exhibiting youth. Your support in this area is important, as many of our youth use the proceeds from the sale of their animals to build an educational fund. Sales often exceed $200,000.00 in revenue for our youth. Our exhibit building provides space for the 4-H exhibitors and students to show off their projects and earn awards.

January 16-25, 2015  Amelia Island Restaurant Week
Amelia Island, Florida
During the 2015 Amelia Island Restaurant Week, 30 of the island’s popular dining hotspots are offering special fixed menus for lunch and dinner, with different restaurants participating in each. The lunch option will be priced at $12 and includes an entrée and a drink. The dinner option (priced at either $19 or $29 per person) includes three courses and a beverage. Additionally, Amelia Island Restaurant Week will also offer special events, including a kick-off dinner at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, four special Mixology Tours with Amelia Island Tasting Tours and a finale tour at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation.  (also: www.ameliaisland.com/yummy)

This year’s event will feature everything to do with the Sunshine State’s favorite citrus, the “Florida Key Lime”. The three-day festival attracts nearly 5,000 people to Goodland. Fried and smoked mullet are featured and the Buzzard Lope Queen is named during the event. Held annually at Stan's Idle Hour the weekend before the Super Bowl.

January 24-25, 2015  Key Largo Stone Crab & Seafood Festival 2015
Key Largo, Florida
Featuring fresh local seafood, live musical entertainment, cooking demonstrations, contests and kids' activities. Sponsored by the Key Largo Fisheries and Key Largo Merchants Association, the 6TH Annual family-fun event takes place at Rowell's Marina, MM 104.5 bayside.  Seafood booths are to serve up succulent stone crab claws, homemade smoked fish dip, conch fritters, chowders, tuna nachos, lobster and more. Attendees also can visit cooking tents for tips on how to devise and devour favorite Keys dishes. Other attractions include arts and crafts, vendor booths, fireworks, shrimp and Key lime pie-eating contests, a car show and even piratical escapades for kids.
