January 4-6, 2012  Potato Expo 2012 - Orlando, Florida
The largest conference and tradeshow for the North American potato industry. There's nothing else like it! This is the one place where attendees from across the supply chain come together to do business.

January 14, 2012  Oyster Cook-Off - Apalachicola, Florida
Contestants are encouraged to enter with their favorite recipe. All forms of oysters will be available to taste: raw, steamed, fried. Live music and dancing performances and silent auction. Benefits the Volunteer Fire Department.

January 14, 2012  7th Annual Florida Keys Seafood Festival 2012 - Key West, Florida
The Florida Keys Seafood Festival's purpose is to raise money for the fishing industry, to showcase the great local seafood harvested by the commercial fishermen of the Keys, to provide scholarships to college-bound children of commercial fishermen, and to celebrate our community by bringing families and friends together.

January 14-16, 2012  The Festival of Chocolate 2012 - Tampa, Florida
Florida's Largest All-Chocolate Event features tastes from the best local and regional chocolatiers and confection companies; demonstrations by world renown pastry chefs, chocolate and wine pairings; hands-on classes; a one-of-a-kind chocolate museum; Kids-4-Chocolate workshop;  crazy chocolate contests for children and adults, chocolate game show stage and live professional chocolate showpiece and cake decorating competitions.  And, don't miss Brownie Bingo!

January 16, 2012  Taste of Compassion 2012 - West Palm Beach, Florida

January 27-28, 2012  Lakeland Pigfest - Lakeland, Florida
Kansas City Barbeque Society Sanctioned event, recognized as the Florida Barbeque Championship Contest. Plenty of food, music, and friends for the benefit of local charities! Attendance: 30,000.

January 27-29, 2012  Naples Winter Wine Festival - Naples, Florida
Ranked among the top 10 arts and entertainment events for wealthy Americans, NWWF brings many of the world's finest vintners and chefs together with wine collectors and philanthropists for a three-day gala in picturesque Naples, Florida. Benefits at-risk and underprivileged children.

January 28, 2012  Annual Kumquat Festival - Dade City, Florida
Celebrates the harvest of kumquats, a sweet and sour fruit that is a member of the citrus family. Some festivities include: a farmer”s market, wagon rides, antique cars and tractors, tasty kumquat dishes and craft shows.

January 28, 2012  6th Annual Port Salerno Seafood Festival - Port Salerno, Florida
Local Florida seafood specialties, live music, family fun area, maritime exhibitors, arts and crafts and more in historic Port Salerno along the waterfront.

January 28-29, 2012  St. George Annual Greek Festival - Hollywood, Florida
Come Join Us and Be Greek For A Day!  Enjoy Live Greek Music, Dancing & Authentic Greek Food and Pastries, including lamb shanks, souvlaki, fresh-carved gyro off the spit, pastichio, moussaka, and more!  Vendors will be selling Greek novelties.  Bounce house, face painting and games for the kids.

January 28-29, 2012  28th Annual Mullet Festival - Goodland, Florida
The three-day festival attracts nearly 5,000 people to Goodland. Fried and smoked mullet are featured and the Buzzard Lope Queen is named during the event. Held annually at Stan's Idle Hour the weekend before the Super Bowl. Attendance: 5,000.

January 29, 2012  Master Chefs Classic - Key West, Florida
A culinary competition and tasting that benefits the Monroe Association for ReMARCable Citizens (MARC provides life services for developmentally disabled adults in the Florida Keys). This event has become the premier food event of the Key West season. Restaurants compete in appetizer, entrée and dessert categories providing incredible food for 400 lucky people. Awards are given in each category.

29th annual Key West Literary Seminar. Each year the Key West Literary Seminar explores a different literary theme. This year, for the first time, we explore food in literature. The Hungry Muse will present dozens of today’s most compelling, thought-provoking, and funniest writers– memoirists, novelists, poets, historians, journalists, and all manner of lettered gastronome, gourmand, and epicure. It promises to be a mouthwatering and fascinating investigation not simply of the stuff we eat, but of all the things food stands for in our thoughts and words and stories.
