November 1, 2015  31st Annual Great Chowder Debate
St. Augustine, Florida
Inaugurated in 1984, the Great Chowder Debate is one of the longest-running chowder championships in the country.  Over 30 restaurants from the St. Augustine area come out every November to donate their chowders and their time in hope of winning first place, and to help the St. Augustine Shrine Club raise money for the Shriners’ Hospitals for the children.  The Great Chowder Debate features over 5,000 patrons and over 2,000 gallons of chowder, served by some of the Florida’s best restaurants and chefs.

November 4, 2015  Easter Seals South Florida 26th Festival of Chefs
Nikki Beach, Miami Beach, Florida
Miami's finest chefs bring their talents and delicious sample foods to the Annual Festival of Chefs.  It's a night of wining and dining, while meeting chefs, and bidding on incredible silent auction items featuring fine art, jewelry, rare wines and getaway packages.  All proceeds will benefit the Easter Seals Culinary Arts school for young adults ages 16 to 22 with special needs.  Students from the Easter Seals Culinary Arts school will also participate in the event.

Over 4,000 people attended last year’s event, and this year’s festival promises to be bigger and better.  The event — presented by Florida Voices for Animals— will appeal to all who enjoy tasty, healthy foods, whether or not they follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. The food booths drew rave reviews last year, and local vendors are expected to again impress attendees.

Daytona Beach, Florida
5th Annual Food, Wine & Brew Festival will include an all new exclusive Thursday Night Beer Dinner, at The Shores Resort and Spa.  Brew Masters, recommended by Daytona Beverages, will be on site sharing the beer and food pairing of select beers and an exquisite menu, followed by our 5th Annual Food, Wine & Brew Festival, on Saturday.  The Food, Wine & Brew includes food samples from the best local restaurants around along with 100 craft beers and 40 wines from around the country. The Right Whale Festival celebrates the annual return of the endangered North Atlantic right whales and the beginning of right whale calving season off the coast of northeast Florida and Georgia. It’s a fun and free outdoor event for all ages, and its also an opportunity to expand awareness about the threats to right whales such as accidental ship strikes and entanglement in fishing gear. Less than 500 right whales exist today and their home waters span the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S. and parts of Canada. Attendance: 5,000.

Coral Gables, Florida

Homosassa, Florida
Homosassa has been home to many commercial fishermen with its spring-fed river and has been a nationally known sport fishing and recreation area since the mid-1800s.  The art show is judged and non-judged with exhibitors from all over the country. The food court is a well-known attraction of the festival.  Vendors from the community provide their seafood and other specialties. Whether it's fried catfish, gator tail or conch fritters, you will find it all and more in the food court.

November 14-15, 2015  3rd Annual Maritime Fun Fest
St. Augustine, Florida
Maritime Fun Fest event 2015! This year’s festival will showcase the St. Augustine Maritime Heritage Foundation's boatyard, complete with hands-on maritime activities and our newly christened, 16th century, utility workboat called the San Agustín. Community members will compete in the Quick N' Dirty boat building competition and race (complete with sails and rigging this year), Bartender's Chalupa Rum Challenge, Kidz Maritime Art Competition, and classic field games.  Additionally the SAMHF's children's maritime education corner will boast fun, hands-on activities along with other non-profit community organizations displays, food and beverages, music, and Saturday Evening at the Fountain Local Food Faire Party.

The event features Florida seafood, free kids rides, live entertainment, crab races, games, and arts and crafts vendors.  Admission and parking are free.

November 15, 2014  Harvest Time At Fort Mose - St. Augustine, Florida
In the fall of 1738, the 100 free Blacks of the newly established Pueblo de Gracia Real de Santa Teresa de Mose celebrated their first harvest and feast of Thanksgiving.  The families living at Fort Mose in 1738 had planted vegetables such as pumpkins, squashes, gourdes, beans, lentils and corn. They had also planted fruit trees such as sweet and sour oranges, lemons, figs and persimmons. Many of these crops remain stables of family farms in Saint Johns, Putnam, Clay and Flagler counties even to this day.  This event celebrates the emergence of America’s unique culture and traditions from its African, Native American and European roots.
