159th Mississippi State Fair
Jackson, Mississippi
The Mississippi State Fair means something different to each individual. To some, it is about entertainment like the carnival rides and concerts. For others, it means the opportunity to participate in one of the many competitions such as the livestock shows. No matter what makes this 12-day extravaganza special to you, the Mississippi State Fair has something to offer those of all ages. Over the years, the State Fair has evolved and expanded to enhance the fairgoers’ experience, but it remains true to its strong agricultural heritage by continuing to offer fun-filled, family entertainment.  (also: )

October 5-7, 2018  Ozark Fall FarmFest - Springfield, Missouri
One of the largest agricultural trade shows in the Midwest, the annual Farmfest offers over 750 booths of products and services for the farm and ranch as well as more than 500 head of purebred livestock on display.

October 6, 2018  Annual Missouri Chestnut Roast
New Franklin, Missouri
Thousands of festival visitors each year enjoy samples of roasted chestnuts. Hosted by the MU Horticulture & Agroforestry Research Center, the event is an opportunity to introduce landowners to the benefits of implementing agroforestry practices on their land. There are cooking demonstrations, musical entertainment and chestnut products available to buy.

October 6, 2018  27th Annual Republic Pumpkin Daze
Republic, Missouri
Activities include weigh-in and awards for produce, pet parade, kids' tractor pull, pumpkin' chuckin', and musical entertainment.

October 6-7, 2018  Mississippi Peanut Festival - Collins, Mississippi
Experience life on a working farm and enjoy Mississippi grown peanuts. More than 100 vendors with unique crafts and gifts, lots of great Southern food, and live entertainment will all be present at this year's event. Admission to the festival also gets you into the Mitchell Farms Pumpkin Patch and Maze where you can take wagon ride tours of the famr, learn about agriculture in Mississippi, pikc a free pumpkin from the patch, and explore a 6 acre maze.

October 13, 2017 - Pumpkinpalooza - Starkville, Mississippi
Celebrate autumn in Starkville with this fun family event featuring a pumpkin patch with locally grown pumpkins, a pumpkin painting contest, trick or treating for kids to downtown merchants and live music.

October 13-14, 2017 - Octoberfest - Cleveland, Mississippi
Octoberfest is a celebration of barbecue, arts, music, southern cuisine and much more! A Memphis Barbeque Network sanctioned barbecue contest, this annual festival draws 20,000 + to historic downtown Cleveland. Featuring non-stop live music on 2 stages, this year Octoberfest will feature Blues Blvd. where Mississippi merchandise, live blues music and authentic Mississippi cuisine can be enjoyed.  Attendance: 20,000.

October 15-22, 2017  Annual Jackson County Fair
Pascagoula, Mississippi
Held annually at the Fairgrounds in Pascagoula is the best free fair in the South. The Jackson County Fair features food booths manned by non-profit church organizations, a midway stocked with rides for all ages, arts and crafts made by local citizens, live entertainment, business displays and a pavilion stocked with prize winning animals from the local FFA organizations.

October 21, 2017  Annual Gautier Mullet & Music Festival
Gautier, Mississippi
Enjoy delicious regional food specialties, Music & Entertainment, Arts & Craft show, Regional Food, Heritage & Educational Area, Car & Motorcycle Show, Mullet Toss Contest and Kid's Area. Fun for all ages. Over 30,000 folks attended last year”s festival.   Attendance: 30,000.

October 31, 2017  Town-Wide Halloween Party - Tylertown, Mississippi
Get your costumes ready... the Town-wide Halloween Party October 31 from 3-5 p.m..  Participating businesses have free candy for costumed children (10 and under) starting at 3 p.m..  Standard Trick or Treating hours are from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Have a safe and Happy Halloween!!!

October 10, 2014  Chili Festival - Tupelo, Mississippi
Local competition for who cooks the best chili in Tupelo!The Lunch portion of the event is catered by cotton bolt catering. At night, local teams compete for who has the best “make you wanna slap your mama” chili in town.

October 19-21, 2012  Barbecue: 15th Southern Foodways Symposium
Oxford, Mississippi
Barbecue: An Exploration of Pitmaster, Places, Smoke, and Sauce.  The symposiums provide opportunities for thinkers, writers, cooks, and eaters to come to a better understanding of American regional culinary culture. Lectures and performances, staged on the University of Mississippi campus, and at locations around the city of Oxford, will be amplified by informal breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
