October 1-2, 2016 Mississippi Peanut Festival - Collins, Mississippi
Experience life on a working farm and enjoy Mississippi grown peanuts. More than 100 vendors with unique crafts and gifts, lots of great Southern food, and live entertainment will all be present at this year's event. Admission to the festival also gets you into the Mitchell Farms Pumpkin Patch and Maze where you can take wagon ride tours of the famr, learn about agriculture in Mississippi, pikc a free pumpkin from the patch, and explore a 6 acre maze.

157th Mississippi State Fair
The Mississippi State Fair means something different to each individual. To some, it is about entertainment like the carnival rides and concerts. For others, it means the opportunity to participate in one of the many competitions such as the livestock shows. No matter what makes this 12-day extravaganza special to you, the Mississippi State Fair has something to offer those of all ages. Over the years, the State Fair has evolved and expanded to enhance the fairgoers’ experience, but it remains true to its strong agricultural heritage by continuing to offer fun-filled, family entertainment.
October 7-8, 2016 Octoberfest - Cleveland, Mississippi
Octoberfest is a celebration of barbecue, arts, music, southern cuisine and much more! A Memphis Barbeque Network sanctioned barbecue contest, this annual festival draws 20,000 + to historic downtown Cleveland. Featuring non-stop live music on 2 stages, this year Octoberfest will feature Blues Blvd. where Mississippi merchandise, live blues music and authentic Mississippi cuisine can be enjoyed. Attendance: 20,000.
October 8-9, 2016 26th Annual Gautier Mullet & Music Festival

October 16-23, 2016 95th Annual Jackson County Fair
Held annually at the Fairgrounds in Pascagoula is the best free fair in the South. The Jackson County Fair features food booths manned by non-profit church organizations, a midway stocked with rides for all ages, arts and crafts made by local citizens, live entertainment, business displays and a pavilion stocked with prize winning animals from the local FFA organizations.

Presented by Starkville Junior Auxiliary, MSU Amphitheater. Taste-test delicious chili recipes as some of Starkville’s favorite restaurants and cooking teams compete for the best chili! Lots of kids activities for the whole family, benefitting the great work of Starkville JA!
October 10, 2014 Chili Festival - Tupelo, Mississippi
Local competition for who cooks the best chili in Tupelo!The Lunch portion of the event is catered by cotton bolt catering. At night, local teams compete for who has the best “make you wanna slap your mama” chili in town.
October 19-21, 2012 Barbecue: 15th Southern Foodways Symposium
Barbecue: An Exploration of Pitmaster, Places, Smoke, and Sauce. The symposiums provide opportunities for thinkers, writers, cooks, and eaters to come to a better understanding of American regional culinary culture. Lectures and performances, staged on the University of Mississippi campus, and at locations around the city of Oxford, will be amplified by informal breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
October 2, 2010 Sorghum Festival - Michigan City, Mississippi
Sorghum has many uses, the most famous of which is molasses making. Join in all of the great excitement surrounding this fun-time festival.
October 12, 2010 3 Blind Wines - Oxford, Mississippi
A blind wine tasting: teams of 2 people select 3 bottles of the same red wine. 2 of every team’s bottles of wine are set out for the tasting with labels covered, the 3rd bottle of wine is held for the auction prize. Everyone samples the other team’s wines and votes for their favorite. The team whose wine is selected as the most popular wins the auction which includes all the other team’s third bottle of wine. The proceeds benefit the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council and Oxford Tasting Society and annual programs presented by the organizations.
