July 3-4, 2016  Grand Bay Watermelon Festival - Grand Bay, Alabama
A July 4 tradition since 1973, the Grand Bay Watermelon Festival offers tourists and locals an opportunity  to sample locally grown watermelon while enjoying local music, arts & crafts, and informative displays from area merchants and service providers.  The annual celebration has a long and storied history, having begun during the earliest years of the 20th Century. As the community and surrounding area changed during World War II, the annual celebration was discontinued. It was revived in 1973 by the Grand Bay Junior Chamber of Commerce. Currently, it is sponsored by the Grand Bay Independent Odd Fellows #73, and is held at the Festival Park and  baseball park just north of U.S. Highway 90 on the west side of Grand Bay.

 

July 4, 2016  33rd Annual Sand Mountain Potato Festival
Henegar, Alabama
Celebrate the city's rich heritage and diversity of agricultural products, including potatoes, with live music, arts and crafts, entertainment, games and fireworks.

July 4, 2016  4TH OF JULY - Nationwide
There are so many events on this day that they are too numerous to list. Virtually every community in the U.S. has a 4th of July celebration.

July 15-17, 2016  83rd Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo
Dauphin Island, Alabama
Officially the largest fishing tournament in the world. With more than thirty award categories and a total prize package of up to $1 million, it’s no surprise that fishing hopefuls have descended upon this top-notch three-day event for almost a century. Proceeds from the event benefit the Mobile Jaycees. Various species caught throughout the weekend will be used for scientific testing done by the Food and Drug Administration and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Estuarium.  Activities, vendors, music and fish weigh-ins begin at 9:00 a.m. and lasts through the evening.  This event is free and open to the public.

July 21, 2016  13th Annual Flavors of the South - Robertsdale, Alabama
Showcasing food & wine from local restaurants and caterers, attendees get to taste a variety of food and drink while listening to music and mingling. The showcase will offer a silent auction and a 50/50 drawing.

July 29-30, 2016  Cotton Pickin’ BBQ Cook-Off - Hartselle, Alabama
The “Cotton Pickin’ BBQ Cook-Off” is a KCBS sanctioned event and member of the Alabama Barbeque Association.  Professional and Backyard cook teams fill historic downtown Hartselle with the aroma of competition barbecue.  In 2011, Governor Robert Bentley proclaimed this event to be an Alabama Championship event which enables the Alabama teams to earn points for the coveted Governors Cup.  This is a FUN event with GREAT cook teams gathering together for a weekend of fun, hard work, fellowship and competition – Come see for yourself!!

August 4-7, 2016  International Cake Exploration Societé 41st Annual Convention and Show - Mobile, Alabama
International Cake Exploration Societé (ICES), an organization comprised of over 3500 sugar artists, cake decorators and vendors from all over the world. (also: http://ices.org/ )

August 12-21, 2016  Alabama Restaurant Week - Statewide, Alabama
Restaurants around the state, including many featured in the popular "100 Dishes To Eat in Alabama Before You Die" brochure, invite diners to experience the wonderful culinary scene of Sweet Home Alabama. Participating restaurants will offer specials throughout the week.

 

August 19, 2016  Annual Franklin County Watermelon Festival
Russellville, Alabama
Downtown Russellville is home of the Franklin County Watermelon Festival each August. It's a time for a lot of good fun and of course, juicy watermelons that can cool a hot sumer day in the south. It began in 1981 and the carnival-type atmosphere has become a must-do event for thousands. There's plenty of music, a car and truck show, activites for children and competitions, including a watermelon seed-spitting contest.  Attendance: 50,000.

August 19, 2016  Sips for CF - Wine Tasting Competition
Birmingham, Alabama
Join us at the Alabama Theatre for a night of wine tasting, music, food and drinks.  How:  teams of 1-3 people all bring the same bottle of red wine, two bottles go into the tasting and the third goes into the prize pot.  Once the tasting starts, contestants taste and vote on their favorite wine. If your wine wins the most votes, you win the prize wine!

August 27, 2016  Annual Okra Festival - Burkville, Alabama
Enjoy incredible food, fresh vegetables, arts and crafts, and okra! Come join us for a taste of fresh home grown okra and jazz music during the annual community event.  Incredible Food:  Famous gumbo, fish, barbecue, pig ears, okra dishes, preserves, local produce and homemade ice cream. Annie Mae's famous pickled okra!

August 27, 2016  Farm Yall Festival - Cullman, Alabama
A celebration of local agriculture held in conjunction with the southeastern pumpkin and water melon weigh-off.

August 8, 2015  Hops for Hope - Birmingham, Alabama
Come with a friend to join us for Hops for Hope and support the homeless women and children of Birmingham!  $20 ticket includes:  • a complimentary flight of beer  • musical entertainment by 90 Proof  • 75% of ticket is tax deductible.  Food is available for purchase, and the opportunity to win great prizes.

Throughout the spring and summer, we’ll be celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Alabama State Parks with plenty of fresh Alabama Gulf Seafood.

August 16, 2014  4th Annual Beer, Bands & Bullies

We're holding our biggest yearly event at Avondale Brewery and have lined up some awesome bands to keep you entertained. Just a $10 donation to enjoy the show & support Bama Bully Rescue!
