July 4, 2014 Grand Bay Watermelon Festival - Grand Bay, Alabama
A July 4 tradition since 1973, the Grand Bay Watermelon Festival offers tourists and locals an opportunity to sample locally grown watermelon while enjoying local music, arts & crafts, and informative displays from area merchants and service providers. The annual celebration has a long and storied history, having begun during the earliest years of the 20th Century. As the community and surrounding area changed during World War II, the annual celebration was discontinued. It was revived in 1973 by the Grand Bay Junior Chamber of Commerce. Currently, it is sponsored by the Grand Bay Independent Odd Fellows #73.
July 4, 2014 31st Annual Sand Mountain Potato Festival
Celebrate the city's rich heritage and diversity of agricultural products, including potatoes, with live music, arts and crafts, entertainment, games and fireworks.
July 18-20, 2014 Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo
Dauphin Island, Alabama
Officially the largest fishing tournament in the world. With more than thirty award categories and a total prize package of more than $400,000, it’s no surprise that fishing hopefuls have descended upon this top-notch three-day event for almost a century. Proceeds from the event benefit the Mobile Jaycees. Various species caught throughout the weekend will be used for scientific testing done by the Food and Drug Administration and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Estuarium. Fishing begins at 5:00 a.m. on Friday and ends at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Activities, vendors, music and fish weigh-ins begin at 9:00 a.m. and lasts through the evening. This event is free and open to the public.
July 24, 2014 11th Annual Flavors of the South
Showcasing food & wine from local restaurants and caterers, attendees get to taste a variety of food and drink while listening to music and mingling. The showcase will offer a silent auction and a 50/50 drawing.
August 15, 2014 34th Annual Franklin County Watermelon Festival
Downtown Russellville is home of the Franklin County Watermelon Festival each August. It's a time for a lot of good fun and of course, juicy watermelons that can cool a hot sumer day in the south. It began in 1981 and the carnival-type atmosphere has become a must-do event for thousands. There's plenty of music, a car and truck show, activites for children and competitions, including a watermelon seed-spitting contest.
August 15-24, 2014 Alabama Restaurant Week
Restaurants around the state, including many featured in the popular "100 Dishes To Eat in Alabama Before You Die" brochure, invite diners to experience the wonderful culinary scene of Sweet Home Alabama. Participating restaurants will offer specials throughout the week.
August 16, 2014 4th Annual Beer, Bands & Bullies
We're holding our biggest yearly event at Avondale Brewery and have lined up some awesome bands to keep you entertained. Just a $10 donation to enjoy the show & support Bama Bully Rescue! Don't forget to ask for the Bully Brew and a portion of the nights sales will benefit bullies in need. Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome :D So come on out and bring your friends!
August 22, 2014 Sips for CF - Wine Tasting Competition
Event Includes: Wine tasting competition, Hors d’oeuvres & drinks, Music, Silent Auction, and Games. • Each team brings 3 identical bottles of red wine. A team consists of 1 to 3 people. • When you arrive, all 3 bottles will be given to the hosts. Two of the bottles will be wrapped to conceal the identity and will be used for tasting. The third bottle will be set aside and used for prizes. • Each team tastes the wine and votes on its favorite. • At the end of the night, the votes will be counted. If your wine wins, you do too!

A celebration of local agriculture held in conjunction with the southeastern pumpkin and water melon weigh-off.
August 30, 2014 5th Annual Peanut Boil Festival - Luverne, Alabama
The festival includes 'the world's largest peanut boil" and features music, arts & crafts, children's activities as well as delicious food, and over 60,000 pounds of peanuts.

August 30, 2014 Annual Okra Festival - Burkville, Alabama
Enjoy incredible food, fresh vegetables, arts and crafts, and okra! Come join us for a taste of fresh home grown okra and jazz music during the annual community event. Incredible Food: Famous gumbo, fish, barbecue, pig ears, okra dishes, preserves, local produce and homemade ice cream. Annie Mae's famous pickled okra!
August 30, 2014 44th Annual St. William Seafood Festival
Civitan Park, on the shores of Lake Gunersville. Hosted by St William Catholic Church. Creole-style file' gumbo, Cajun boiled shrimp, fresh crawfish, bbq chicken and fish dinners, hushpuppies and slaw. Began in 1970, the festival has been the primary fundraiser for the church throughout the years. Not only is the freshly prepared food a favorite in the local communities, but also to people coming as far away as Tennessee and Georgia.
August 31-September 1, 2014 18th Annual Sweet Tater Festival
The annual festival will offer arts, crafts, games, food, door prizes, live entertainment and plenty of sweet taters.
