Food & Farm Forum
Nauvoo, Alabama
The Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network's (ASAN's) primary annual gathering of farmers, gardeners, community leaders, and good food advocates from across the state, gathered to swap stories, ideas, and wisdom, in order to together build a more robust local food system in Alabama.  The program consists of peer-to-peer, hands-on, and experiential learning, in the form of workshops, panel discussions, and breakout conversations.  Topics covered range from seed saving and permaculture to herbal medicine and raising grassfed beef.  Child care is provided for free throughout the weekend, and in 2018 for the first time, a Youth Food & Farm Forum will run concurrently, offered to youth ages 14-21.  The Youth Forum program will feature sessions on topics ranging from agricultural production, land stewardship, food sovereignty, community/grassroots organizing, and more.  Both the Forum and the Youth Forum are meant to engage people’s minds, hearts, and bodies, regardless of skill level, experience, age, or role in the food system.
