71st Annual Plaquemines Parish Fair & Orange Festival
The Parish is a region of ecological wonder with its many waterways, fishing and hunting grounds, and the best Citrus in the Country. Experience wonderful food, entertainment, crafts and competitions including contests for citrus desserts, shrimp peeling, catfish skinning, oyster shucking, duck calling, orange eating and orange peeling. Annually, 1st full weekend of December.
December 2, 2017 Beignet Fest - New Orleans, Louisiana
Beignet Fest celebrates New Orleans’ most iconic dessert: the beignet. From traditional sweet treats to savory delicacies that feature seafood, cheese and more, Beignet Fest serves up the best beignets in the South. In true New Orleans tradition, Beignet Fest features a myriad of restaurant vendors; local and regional musical entertainment; and family-friendly activities in the Kid’s Village presented by Ochsner Hospital for Children. Awards are given for best traditional, best sweet, best savory, and crowd-favorite beignets. Proceeds from Beignet Fest benefit the Tres Doux Foundation.
December 3-4, 2017 Saint Basil's International Food Festival
Across Europe, the Middle East, Russia, and in many other countries, having a meal is an event filled with family, great food and wonderful conversation. St. Basil Antiochian Orthodox Church in Metairie is bringing back the tradition of breaking bread together. But instead of the traditional three-hour meal, the congregation wants to break bread for two days with music, dancing, and a celebration of cultures from around the world!
