April 28-May 1, 2011 Fishermen's Festival - Boothbay Harbor, Maine Miss Shrimp Pageant, Cod Fish Relay, lobster trap hauling, dory bailling, lobster crate running, tug of war, and fish fry on Saturday. Memorial for fishermen lost at sea and the blessing of the fleet on Sunday.
June 18, 2011 Taste of Brunswick - Brunswick, Maine This annual festival features dozens of the area's finest restaurants and cafés, as well as entertainment by Maine bands. A portion of the proceeds from the "Taste" will benefit the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program.
June 25, 2011 Maine Whoopie Pie Festival - Dover-Foxcroft, Maine Bakers from around the country come together to share their love of whoopie pies with the world! Whoopie Pies, great live music, artists, vendors, food and fun for all ages!
June 25, 2011 Portland Lobster Festival - Portland, Maine Held at the Maine State Pier, the event benefits the Jessie BC Fund and Maine Children's Cancer Program. Includes a Lobster dinner, music, raffles and giveaways.
June 25, 2011 South Berwick Strawberry Festival - South Berwick, Maine The Strawberry Festival is a yearly event filled with entertainment, food, artisans and strawberry shortcakes! Always the last Saturday in June. Attendance: 20,000.
June 26, 2011 Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation - Portland, Maine Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation is the nation's premier culinary benefit, featuring top chefs and mixologists -- all of whom are coming together to donate their time, talent and passion to end childhood hunger in America.
July 9-17, 2011 Maine Potato Blossom Festival - Fort Fairfield, Maine The 9 day Maine Potato Blossom Festival features farmer olympics, road races, arts & crafts, fireworks, river races, and mashed potato wrestling. Lots of fun for the entire family.
July 15-17, 2011 46th Annual Yarmouth Clam Festival - Yarmouth, Maine A long, hilarious parade; spectacular fireworks; clam shucking contests; a firefighter's muster; road, kayak, and bicycle races; a pancake breakfast; concerts; and, of course, a delicious array of food. Admission to the Festival and its events is free. (Always 3rd Friday in July). Attendance: 100,000.
July 17, 2011 Fishermen's Day - Stonington, Maine A popular event with a wide variety of activities for the whole family on and around the Stonington Fish Pier. Includes Coast Guard demonstrations, Wacky Rowboat Races and a very spirited Codfish Relay Race.
July 19-23, 2011 Central Maine Egg Festival - Pittsfield, Maine Celebrates the brown egg industry and is held annually. Activities include a parade, scholarship pageant, Early Bird Breakfast, chicken barbeque, street dance, "Egglympics," craft fair and usually fireworks on Saturday. Don't forget to see the world's largest frying pan!
July 24, 2011 Maine Open Farm Day - Multiple locations, Maine Visit a farm and see what farm life is all about. Watch farm activities and demonstrations from milking to felting; pet farm animals, pick berries, tour a barn or go on a hay ride. There will be farm-raised products for sale, displays to see and samples to taste.
July 28-29, 2011 The Kneading Conference - Skowhegan, Maine The annual KNEADING Conference brings together farmers, novice and professional bakers, and earth oven enthusiasts to explore the art and science of growing and milling grains and baking artisan breads. The purpose is to revive the practice of locally crafted bread, from seed to loaf.
July 29-31, 2011 16th Eliot Antique Tractor & Engine Show - Eliot, Maine Takes place on the picturesque 33 acre Raitt Homestead Farm Museum and features hundreds of tractors and engines, working displays of antique farm equipment, crafts, food, entertainment, antique tractor pulls, kids' pedal tractor pulls, tractor tour, and displays depicting farming life.
July 30, 2011 Artisan Bread Fair - Skowhegan, Maine Free and open to the public. Wood-fired oven demonstrations, artisan bread samplings, and opportunities to talk with professional bakers and explore the best books, tools, and delicious accoutrements to artisan bread baking.
August 3-7, 2011 Maine Lobster Festival - Rockland, Maine 9 tents, the world’s greatest lobster cooker, a sea goddess, a big parade, top notch entertainment, an international crate race, fine art, talented crafts people and vendors, US Navy ship tours, all you can eat pancakes, free shuttle service, US Coast Guard Station tours, professional and amateur cooking contests, marine heritage, road races, kids events, over 20,000 pounds of lobster. Attendance: 25,000.
August 5-6, 2011 29th Annual Blueberry Festival - Wilton, Maine Pick your own blueberries! Food for sale at local church bazaars including blueberry muffins, cake, and pies. Blueberry cookoff and chili tasting contest. Parade, blacksmithing event, fire truck rides, boat tours, music and fireworks.
August 12-14, 2011 Annual Ploye Festival & Muskie Fishing Derby - Fort Kent, Maine The Ploye Festival includes music, crafts, fireworks, ploye eating contest, and world's largest ploye--a type of buckwheat pancake. The Muskie Fishing derby takes place on the scenic St. John River.
August 13, 2011 47th Annual Winter Harbor Lobster Festival - Winter Harbor, Maine A fun filled day with many events: a Maine blueberry pancake breakfast, the ever popular lobster boat races with 13 classes rated by size and power, a craft fair with 80+ exhibitors, lobster dinners and a parade down Main Street.
August 13-14, 2011 Mainely Grillin' & Chillin' BBQ Festival - Eliot, Maine Formerly known as the Celebrate Maine Festival-- features a BBQ Competition, great food including BBQ and homemade strawberry shortcake; continuous live entertainment, the popular Shipyard Brew Garden, children's activities, and artisans. October 20-22, 2011 Harvest on the Harbor - Portland, Maine Experience wine tastings, food seminars, cooking competitions, and gourmet cuisine from award-winning local chefs—the best of Maine food, wine, beer, and spirits set against breathtaking Casco Bay. The largest trade and consumer event in the state. The 3 day-event will feature more than 100 culinary exhibitors and hundreds of wines from around the world. Attendance: 5,000.
October 23, 2011 Great Maine Apple Day - Unity, Maine Celebrate the history, flavor and tradition of Maine apples. Educational workshops and talks on tree pruning, cooking, and cider making. See and taste heirloom varieties.
December 31, 2011 Eastport Sardine Drop - Eastport, Maine A giant sardine model drops from the top of one of the downtown's historic buildings, celebrating the new year and the area's past herring fishing and canning industries. A giant maple leaf drops simultaneously in homage to the island's Canadian neighbors a mile across the bay.
