August is Maine Lobster Month
Statewide, Maine
As a result of Maine's successful lobster conservation effort, the state has hit record harvest levels for the last three years.  So in July 2012 Maine Governor Paul LePage signed a proclamation declaring August "Maine Lobster Month".

August 2-6, 2017  Maine Lobster Festival - Rockland, Maine
Five days of fun and food on the fabulous coast of Maine! What do you get when you mix the world's greatest lobster cooker, a sea goddess, a big parade, top-notch entertainment, an international crate race, fine art, talented crafts people and vendors, U.S. Navy ship tours, all-you-can eat pancakes, free shuttle service, U.S. Coast Guard Station tours, a cooking contest, marine heritage, road races, kids events, more than 20,000 pounds of lobster, PLUS more than 1,000 volunteers and a group of dedicated directors?   Attendance: 25,000.

August 5-6, 2016 - 34th Annual Blueberry Festival - Wilton, Maine
Pick your own blueberries! Food for sale at local church bazaars including blueberry muffins, cake, and pies. Blueberry cookoff and chili tasting contest. Parade, blacksmithing event, fire truck rides, boat tours, music and fireworks.

August 10, 2016  Maine Celebrity Chef Gala
Carrabassett Valley, Maine
2nd Annual Maine Celebrity Classic’s Chef Celebrity Gala at Sugarloaf Mountain Resort.  Eight top rated and award winning chefs from across the US are gathering at Sugarloaf to prepare their signature dishes and serve them to you. Headlining this amazing event is Rockland, Maine’s own Melissa Kelly, the first two-time James Beard awarded “Best Chef-Northeast” and Executive Chef-Proprietor of Primo – Rockland.  After 15 seasons, three locations, and numerous awards and recognitions, her restaurant has become what Chef Kelly calls a "Full Circle Kitchen," the ultimate farm to table experience.  Produce is grown & harvested and all animals are raised and butchered on site. Seasonal to the moment, it is the farm and garden that determine the tasty and ever-changing menu.

Annual Ploye Festival
Fort Kent, Maine
Every August the Greater Area Fort Kent Chamber of Commerce has held a Ploye Festival in conjunction with the area businesses holding a Muskie Derby. During this weekend, it’s all about Ployes and Muskies. One of the featured events is the making of the worlds largest ploye. This event attracts hundreds of spectators, making it the highlight of the Ploye Festival. The massive ploye, which thus far, measures 12 feet in diameter, can only be accomplished with the help of friends and family of Bouchard Family Farm, producers or the ploye mix.  Other events are usually the ploye eating contest, ploye wrestling contest, and craft show. There are also ployes being sold by local organizations on the street.

Muskie fishing is considered one of the greatest freshwater sports fish challenges in all of North America.  Join us and discover just how much fun fishing can be when you do it together. Winter Harbor, Maine
A fun filled day with many events--a Maine blueberry pancake breakfast, the ever popular lobster boat races with 13 classes rated by size and power, a craft fair with 80+ exhibitors, lobster dinners and a parade down Main Street.

August 19-21, 2016  Machias Wild Blueberry Festival - Machias, Maine
The Down East region of Maine produces nearly 85% of the world's blueberries. The annual Wild Blueberry Festival celebrates the blueberry with a Main Street parade, fabulous food, crafts and fine art by regional artists, live music, and activities for the children. Bring the whole family!

A large family fair famous for the annual State of Maine Wild Blueberry Festival. Large midway, crafts, animal pull events, harness racing.

August 24-25, 2016  Maine Farm Days - Clinton, Maine
An agricultural trade show, held on a working dairy farm in Maine. 2015 will be held at Misty Meadows Farm in Clinton  Visit a farm and see what farm life is all about. Watch farm activities and demonstrations from milking to felting; pet farm animals, pick berries, tour a barn or go on a hay ride. There will be farm-raised products for sale, displays to see and samples to taste.

August 27, 2016  Annual ChiliFest at Wells Harbor - Wells, Maine

August 11-12, 2012  Mainely Grillin' & Chillin' BBQ Festival
Eliot, Maine
Formerly known as the Celebrate Maine Festival-- features a BBQ Competition, great food including BBQ and homemade strawberry shortcake; continuous live entertainment, the popular Shipyard Brew Garden, children's activities, and artisans.  Plenty of food and fun for the entire family.

August 13, 2012  Frenchboro Lobster Festival - Frenchbore, Maine
The 50th annual festival will feature classic country music and a storytelling performance. Enjoy a scrumptious lobster dinner. For visitors, the Maine State Ferry will make a special Frenchboro Lobster Festival run.
