July , 2021 - Father Bill's & MainSpring 25th Annual FoodFest
Quincy, Massachusetts
EVENT CANCELED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS.  This can’t-miss summertime event will be held at The Launch at the Hingham Shipyard and Hingham Beer Works. Guests will enjoy delicious samplings from 40 of the South Shore’s most popular restaurants, bakeries, and beverage distributors. Attendees are also treated to stunning ocean views, live entertainment, and opportunities to participate in a silent auction, wine pull, and raffle.  Father Bill’s & MainSpring relies on FoodFest proceeds to close the 54 percent funding gap at its emergency shelters for individuals.

August 22, 2021  Eat Local Month - Tour of ReVision Urban Farm

Tour ReVision Urban Farm with the Sustainable Business Network as part of Eat Local Month!  SBN is organizing two tours of urban farms in and around Boston as part of our Eat Local Month campaign. This tour is designed to be an experience of urban farming and its links to our growing business of food entrepreneurism in the Boston area. The tour will specifically emphasize urban farms very important position for providing food insecure residents in the community with healthy food access options.  Urban farms in the Boston area include land that is being reclaimed, restored and redesigned, to food forests, and more. This tour will provide a snapshot of the vibrant urban farming community and its intersection of land, culture and food economy in Boston.  Since 1990 ReVision Urban Farm, a program of Victory Programs, has been growing food for homeless families and the community, while also offering job training and working to support a food system that is inclusive and diverse.

August 6, 2019 - Lobster War Film Screening
Cambridge, Massachusetts
As part of Eat Local Month, the Sustainable Business Network of Massachusetts, in partnership with MDAR, is presenting a screening of Lobster War at the Brattle Theater. The screening will be followed by a question and answer session with the director, David Abel from the Boston Globe.  Lobster War is an award-winning feature film about a climate-fueled conflict between the United States and Canada over waters that both countries have claimed since the end of the Revolutionary War. The disputed 277 square miles of sea, known as the Gray Zone, were traditionally fished by US lobstermen. But as the Gulf of Maine has warmed faster than nearly any other body of water on the planet, the area’s previously modest lobster population has surged. As a result, Canadians have begun to assert their sovereignty, warring with the Americans to claim the bounty.

Sustainable Business Network (SBN).  Join SBN as we tour the Urban Farming Institute (UFI)’s newly restored historic Fowler Clark Epstein Farm!  Historic Boston, along with its partners, the Urban Farming Institute, The Trust for Public Land, and North Bennet Street School, recently restored the 1786 Fowler Clark Epstein Farm, transforming the property into UFI’s new urban farming headquarters and education center, including classrooms, demonstration kitchen, planting beds, and a farm stand.
