8th Annual Beer Under Glass

Chicagoans “in the know” will head to Albany Park to attend Flavors of Albany Park and walk from restaurant to restaurant, sample to sample, to explore a world of flavors from 6 PM to 9 PM. In support of local businesses and the communities they serve, the Albany Park Chamber of Commerce invites all foodies to Flavors of Albany Park, the restaurant crawl that welcomes diners to experience a world of culinary delights. More than a dozen restaurants will serve sample-size portions of a signature menu item. After checking in at 6:00 PM at the registration point, Golden Crust Pizza & Tap at 4620 N. Kedzie Ave, enthusiastic guests will depart on their tasting tour of local restaurants to enjoy eclectic ethnic samples that include Ecuadorian, Japanese, Persian, Middle Eastern, Mexican, Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, Columbian, Italian, and American cuisines. Attendees will also enjoy a variety of entertainment throughout the evening, including Polynesian dance, local theatre, and more. Steve Dolinsky, ABC7 Chicago’s “The Hungry Hound,” is coming for a meet-and-greet at Jaafer Sweets, 4825 N. Kedzie Ave., from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Advance ticket pricing: $30 adults, $15 kids (12 and under), $20 seniors (60+). All tickets purchased day-of the event, at registration, are an additional $5 per ticket.

When Greektown Mediterranean Wine Fest makes its alluring debut this spring in Chicago's West Loop, scores of European wines will be celebrated along with tasty dishes from the neighborhood's iconic Greek restaurants. This classy Hellenic-themed happening is designed for wine and food connoisseurs be they newbies or those with more discriminating tastes. A cornerstone of the fest will be daily afternoon wine tastings (from 2:00-6:00 p.m.) where ticket holders can sample up to 15 varietals with the purchase of a $40 tasting pass.

The primary objective is to develop leadership qualities in young cattlemen and women and expose them to all aspects of the beef industry. The tour will begin in Denver with a comprehensive overview of the industry. JBS Five Rivers’ Kuner Feedyard, one of the nation’s largest cattle feeding operations, a one-time capacity of over 100,000 head located in Northern Colorado. We will then tour the JBS Greeley facility, one of the nation’s largest beef packing and processing plants. Chicago is the next destination, where the group will visit the Chicago Board of Trade & OSI, Inc. one of the nation’s premiere beef patty manufacturers. The participants will then travel to the nation’s Capitol, where they will meet with their respective congressmen and senators.

Green City Market, located in Lincoln Park between Clark and Stockton Drive (approximately 1817 N. Clark) provides organic and sustainably raised products for well over 200,000 shoppers annually including Chicago's top chefs, residents and visitors. In honor of the 2015 James Beard Foundation Awards, visiting chefs will gather and be joined by Chicago's chef community at Green City Market beginning at 9:30 a.m. The market opens at 7 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday.
