August 1-2, 2014 - 77th Cobden Peach Festival
Cobden, Illinois
The festival celebrates the area's peach harvest with a parade, carnival, pageant, 5k run/walk, homemade peach desserts, and lots of fresh peaches!

August 7-10, 2014  LIttle Italy Fest West - Addison, Illinois
The smell of garlic and the sounds of Sinatra, Prima and Valli will once again fill the air of Centennial Park as the Annual Little Italy Fest-West returns to Addison.  This celebration of Italian culture combines authentic Italian food specialties with unique, top-line entertainment and has become the number one Italian festival in the Chicago area. Approximately 20,000 festival goers each year enjoy beautiful European décor, delicious Italian foods , and top-notch entertainment.


August 7-10, 2014  67th Mendota Sweet Corn Festival
Mendota, Illinois
Tons of free, hot, buttered, delicious Del Monte sweet corn will be the highlight of the 67th annual Sweet Corn Festival  The Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the gigantic undertaking of hosting over 60,000 visitors, who consume nearly 50 tons of sweet corn during the festival weekend.  Free musical entertainment is in abundance. The Crafters Market Place and flea market features over 200 dealers in hand made crafts and unique merchandise. There is a Queen Pageant, beer garden with live bands, grand parade and a carnival with rides and games for both adults and children, plus much more.  The midways are lined with food booths, featuring a multitude of ethnic, regional and festival foods, but the "BIG EVENT" is the serving of the free Del Monte sweet corn on Sunday afternoon. For over 65 years, it has been cooked to its golden goodness with the help of a vintage steam engine.  The good times are waiting, the welcome mat is out, come to Mendota for one of the Midwest's oldest and largest harvest festivals.

August 7-17, 2014  Illinois Wine Experience - Springfield, Illinois
Come and taste wines from nearly 20 Illinois wineries and enjoy live entertainment. Held daily at the Illinois State Fair, the event is sponsored by the Illinois Grape Growers and Vintners. Illinois is consistently among the top 12 wine producing states.
Attendance: 700,000.

August 7-17, 2014  Illinois State Fair - Springfield, Illinois
The annual showcase of Illinois agriculture and unique entertainment includes Illinoisans of the Day, a parade, more than 100 rides, Conservation World, Ethnic Village, Illinois Wine Experience, and horse racing on one of the fastest dirt tracks in the world. Don't miss the Butter Cow, in which 500 pounds of butter are used to sculpt a life size figure.

August 8-10, 2014  Serb Fest 2014 - Chicago, Illinois
Enjoy live music, sample bbq lamb/pig hot off the spit, indulge in homemade strudels, crepes, and donuts.  Check out kids activities and cultural tours.  Bring the entire family to enjoy a taste of Serbia.

August 9-10, 2014  Veggie Fest 2014 - Naperville, Illinois
The largest free vegetarian food festival in the country--you know you’re looking at a huge success.  We are looking forward to another great party with lots more fun, great new vendors, exciting food demos, expert speakers, wonderful children’s programs, fantastic live music and a fabulous food court.  Attendance: 17,000.


August 9-10, 2014  Zoo Brew - Brookfield, Illinois

August 9-10, 2014  Chicago Hot Dog Fest - Chicago, Illinois
Frankly' speaking, Chicago Hot Dog Fest is a guaranteed 'wiener'!  Puns aside, this 2nd annual food happening, held just steps from (and benefiting) the acclaimed Chicago History Museum, has all the ingredients of an exceptional Big City summer event.  In fact, because it was so wildly successful its first year, Chicago Hot Dog Fest is expanding to two days in 2014. It's also broadening other toppings. In addition to its great Lincoln Park location, this year's fest will enhance its music stage lineup and bring back the fun-filled kids' activity area.  What could be better than celebrating an American food classic in an awesome urban green space for fantastic Chicago summer fun?

August 10, 2014  Peach Festival - Grafton, Illinois
Nothing pairs better than a warm, summer day and a ripe, juicy peach! The Peach Festival will feature local famers displaying their delicious local peaches as well as some of those famous Calhoun Peaches hand picked that morning and still warm from the sunshine. August 14-17, 2014  Chicago Festa Italiana - Chicago, Illinois
The annual Taylor Street Festa Italiana returns for its 8th year.  The four-day celebration will put Chicagoans’ appetites to the test, with a meatball eating contest challenging some of the city’s best amateur competitive eaters. Meanwhile, visitors will get the chance to experience firsthand a fun way “make” wine when attendees will be encouraged to kick off their shoes and participate in a special grape stomping area that will be set up throughout the festival.  Families are invited to come out and enjoy the Festa Italiana with their little ones, as carnival rides and family-friendly activities will be taking place all weekend long, all nestled alongside three great stages of live entertainment and some of the best Italian food that Chicago has to offer.  Attendance: 50,000.

August 22-23, 2014  39th Annual Urbana Sweet Corn Festival
Urbana, Illinois
This year's festival takes place in the heart of downtown Urbana on Main Street, between Race and Vine Streets on Friday 5:00-11:00 p.m. and Saturday 11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. Each year this festival is frequented by as many as 50,000 individuals from both the Champaign-Urbana and surrounding communities in central Illinois. The festival is also the official welcome for incoming and returning University of Illinois students.  This year there will be live music on three different stages including One Community Together for family friendly entertainment, CU Folk and Roots, and Eddie Money as the festival headliner.  Car enthusiasts can look forward to the Motor Muster Car Show, a showcase of vintage automobiles.  There is also merchandise vendors, plenty of food, and of course, all the local Illinois sweetcorn you can eat!

August 22-23, 2014  Naperville Wine Festival - Naperville, Illinois
Enjoy an array of tasty cuisine and fine wines, as well as a fantastic lineup of live music including Lloyd Dobbler Effect and Erin Bode Group. There will also be food and wine seminars with live cooking demonstrations. A portion of the proceeds benefit Naperville Area Humane Society, an organization that has been serving Naperville since 1979.

Enjoy the annual Grape Festival featuring traditional pageants, car shows, live music, food booths, and flea market. Held in Nauvoo State Park.

August 29-31, 2014  37th Annual DeKalb Corn Fest - DeKalb, Illinois
Over 100,000 people come to enjoy the food and listen to the music at Corn Fest each year. Over 70 tons of sweet corn are consumed each year by visitors to downtown DeKalb, Illinois for this fun-filled festival.

August 30-Sept 1, 2014  27th Annual Popcorn Festival - Casey, Illinois
Located in the century-old Fairview Park, the Casey Popcorn Festival has earned its reputation as the Premier Family Festival in a two-state area. Music fills the air almost continuously as live bands offer oldies, classic rock, country, and southern Gospel. Kids entertainers such as magicians and animal shows are featured, as well as a huge carnival, more than 60 craft booths, a car show, festival food, and FREE popcorn, the official snack food of Illinois.

August 30-Sept 1, 2014  Amish Country Cheese Festival - Arthur, Illinois

August 23, 2008  Marengo vs. Harvard Sweet Corn Throwdown
Harvard & Marengo, Illinois
This event was developed to encourage people to become "locavores" by using a friendly community-based cooking challenge featuring local sweet corn growers. Harvard residents are required to use Mirai sweet corn from Twin Garden Farms in Harvard and Marengo residents are required to use sweet corn from Cody's Farm Fresh Vegetables from Purdom Farms in Marengo. Contestants can enter up to three of the five categories, which include Appetizers, Main Dish, Salad/Side Dish, Baked Goods/Dessert, and Miscellaneous.
