July 11-12, 2014 Ace in the Hole BBQ Cookoff - Holbrook, Arizona
Whiskey Ranch Pro BBQ Series will be teaming up with the City of Holbrook and Old West Days again. Competitions will be held in the Kansas City BBQ Society categories Chicken, Ribs, Pork & Brisket. This event is supporting some great charities, so please come out and have a good time!
July 12-13 & 19-20, 2014 Sweet Corn Extravaganza - Willcox, Arizona
Sweet corn picked at the peak of the season is a treat you won’t want to miss! Many other vegetables will be available for you-pick. Enjoy hot roasted sweet corn and a great day of family fun on the farm!
July 18-19, 2014 Camp Verde Corn Fest 2014 - Camp Verde, Arizona
The Verde Valley of central Arizona has the best sweet corn you have ever tasted! The Camp Verde Cornfest started 22 years ago as a way to not only feature our wonderful corn, but to have fun with our friends and neighbors at the height of the corn season and the summer. We always begin on Friday at 3pm with activities for all ages, music, vendors and, of course, hot, roasted, buttered sweet corn. We will also sell uncooked corn by the dozen. Saturday is a full day with more delicious corn and even more to do.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum. Informal one-hour workshop teaches participants ways to pick, prepare, process and preserve these juicy, seasonal fruits of the Sonoran Desert -- with innovative and tasty prickly pear snacks at the end of each class, included in admission, $4.50.
August 16, 2014 Southern Arizona Salsa & Tequila Challenge
The Southern Arizona Salsa and Tequila Challenge has shaken up the summers in Tucson for three years, bringing the region’s cultural garden to modern day tastes buds. The culinary event brings up to 50 chefs and restaurants preparing unique salsa recipes and mixologists creating innovative tequila-based drinks along with sweet and savory menu pairings. Proceeds benefit the Food Bank of Southern Arizona and SAACA’s arts therapy and education programs.

August 23, 2014 Third Annual Prickly Pear Festival - Superior, Arizona
Visitors to the festival--the only all-day event of its kind in the country-- will learn to identify the most edible of the hundreds of prickly pears in the state, gather and prepare the luscious purple fruit and the nutritious green pads. Experts will guide visitors in how to turn the pears into tasty salads, entrees and desserts, brew a light melony pale ale and make wine and mead from the fruit.

Apples? In Arizona? Actually, Southeastern Arizona’s elevation is ideal for orchards. Each Labor Day weekend, Apple Annie’s Orchard & Produce in Willcox hosts a harvest celebration, when you can pick apples, fill up on pancakes doused in cider syrup, hop on a hayride or opt for peaches and pears, which are also ripe then.
