Ms. Annies is a charming, locally owned restaurant specializing in good ole' down-home, "soul food".  Soul food is defined as home cooking with a good deal of flavor and seasoning.  Annie and Keith run an immaculate, neat, bright and comfortable restaurant with a broad menu featuring, for a start---and I don't wish to start a fight---THE BEST Conch Fritters on the island!  That is a BOLD statement but this Local (" Key West Conch") woman has been here long enough to KNOW how they are supposed to be done AND they have CHUNKS of conch in them...the kind that let you know what they are.

The fritters are just the start. Ms. Annie's has a regular menu of featured items such as collard greens, fried okra, conch salad, cornbread and fresh crab salad---with real crab meat!  Among my favorites are the Fried Ribs, Conch Salad, Crab Salad and the fried chicken---The "Yo Burger" is fantastic, fresh and juicy with mushrooms, onion, lettuce, tomato and cheese.   It IS as good as the ones we make at home...in fact---even better!  You MUST try the cracked conch...it is an island staple and a signature dish of the Conch Republic (Key West). This version is simply the MOST tender, most flavorful and best prepared that I have ever had (and there are several places from which to get it).

Annie's offers beer and wine, vegetarian items, two stories with a large balcony and another dining room on the second floor. Just two blocks from Duval Street, feet past Thomas Street on Petronia, this writer has eaten there at least five times and ordered from their delivery service ($10 minimum) for my office on at least three occasions.

The bottom line is that if you just love good home cooking with outrageous portions, a great price and good old-fashioned Key West hospitality...Ms. ANNIE'S is this writer's first choice.
