Taste of Newton
Each year, the Newton community kicks off Bethel College’s Fall Festival on Thursday evening from 6–9 p.m. with Taste of Newton downtown. Dozens of food booths sponsored by groups from the college, area churches, civic clubs and service organizations line the streets. Music and dance groups perform at two locations.
October 1-2, 2016 - Kaw Valley Farm Tour - Douglas County, Kansas
Farms in Northeast Kansas open to the public. Always the first full weekend in October. Gather up your friends, fill up a car, locate farms on the map and decide which route you want to take! Pick and choose whichever farms you want to visit! Tickets are $10 per carload and good for both days.
Tour hours are from 10:00 a.m.— 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday of Farm Tour weekend. Farmers offer their farms as tour stops. They will have guided tours of their individual farms and will be available to talk to you about their farm practices. You are responsible for transportation between farms. Many will have educational displays and most will have farm products for sale. We want you to come see the diversity of agriculture in our region. We have everything from alpacas to zucchinis -- check out the farms list for more information.

October 14-15, 2016 Lenexa Chili Challenge - Lenexa, Kansas
Each year about 200 teams compete in two divisions: Chili Appreciation Society International (C.A.S.I.) and Home Style Chili. Contestants may also compete in the Salsa Division and hot wing contest.
October 28, 2016 Farm to Fork Dinner Event - Hays, Kansas
The Farm to Fork Dinner Event will be an evening of fine food, fellowship, and live entertainment. Join us inside the historic Strand Theatre, 1102 Main Street. The meal will be prepared by Gella's Executive Chef, Manuel Hernandez, and feature local ingredients provided by vendors of the Downtown Hays Market. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Downtown Hays Market so local producers can continue to provide locally grown products and handcrafted gifts.
October 21-22, 2011 Indigenous Food Festival - Lawrence, Kansas
Haskell Indian Nations University's festival includes an indigenous food cooking contest, community potluck feast, speakers, a health fair and work sessions on Indigenous Food Sovereignty.
