1/4 cup chopped onion (Spanish or green or a combination)Safflower oil, for frying1/4 cup nopal3 tablespoons red chili paste1/2 cup waterSaute the onion in the oil until transparent. Add the nopal and fry for about 1 minute. Add the red chili paste and water. Simmer until the pads are well saturated with sauce. Use as a sauce for a meat or tofu dish.
