Kansas State Fair
Hutchinson, Kansas
The Kansas State Fair will feature over 30,000 entries in competitive exhibitions, national acts, midway, and delicious fair foods. The fair attracts 350,000 visitors each year.   Attendance: 350,000.

September 9, 2023
Annual Lenexa Spinach Festival - Lenexa, Kansas
Lenexa was hailed as the “Spinach Capital of the World” during the 1930s. Each year, we celebrate that part of our history with the annual Spinach Festival, a fun, family-oriented event that draws thousands of visitors from all over the area. It’s a festive day of music, entertainment, arts and antique vendors, food, a recipe contest, kids’ activities and so much more – all set in the beautifully renovated Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park.  Attendance: 7,000.

September 9, 2023  Oxford Lions Club Watermelon Feed
Oxford, Kansas
The morning starts with a 2-mile and a 10K fun run. Activities continue throughout the day with food stands, crafts, games, a parade and an outdoor dance.

September 11, 2023  Taste of Newton - Newton, Kansas
New Location! Now at Central Plaza Parking Lot #4 (Trinity St.). Restaurants and culinary businesses have an opportunity to showcase their talents by supplying samples of their cuisine. All Sussex County Restaurants are invited to participate in this tasting event. Only limited tickets will be sold. Last year hundreds of people attended and it was a fabulous opportunity for the venues to showcase their menu.

September 23, 2023  Cornstock - Garnett, Kansas
The Anderson County Corn Festival--celebrating those who feed and fuel America. Entertainment, pageant, 5K run, homemade raft races and much more.

September 23, 2023  Food Truck Frenzy - Lenexa, Kansas
5 to 9 p.m.  Visit the Lenexa civic campus to feast on a variety of cuisines from area food trucks. Enjoy live music by local performers during the event.
 


 

September 29-October 1, 2023  Kansas Junior Livestock Show
Hutchinson, Kansas
The Kansas Junior Livestock Show is one of the premiere livestock shows in Kansas and the region.

Homecoming Parade; Chili Cook-Off; Cinnamon roll Bake-Off; Art & Craft Fair; Veterans Salute; Live Entertainment.

September 30, 2023  Wichita Wagonmasters Downtown Chili CookOff
Wichita, Kansas
Over 70 teams are expected to compete for the State Championship and winners will advance to the International Chili Cookoff. Enjoy live music, a pepper eating contest, Mr. Hot Stuff and Ms. Chili Pepper competitions and games and rides for the kids. Public tasting begins promptly at noon.  Attendance: 10,000.

September 6, 2019 - Barrels and Bites - Hays, Kansas
Prepare yourself for a decadent evening on The Bricks. At Barrels and Bites, you'll enjoy a beautiful stroll through downtown businesses. At each stop, you'll sample your choice of wine or a spirit and heavy hors d'oeuvres will perfectly pair with your drink of choice. After the stroll, guests will enjoy an after party like no other under the impressive Downtown Pavilion. A dessert extravaganza will be laid out for all to enjoy. Chocolate fountains, cookies, cupcakes, truffles, and more will accompany a silent and live auction. KCKBBQ, is the nation's only Kosher BBQ Festival to be sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society.

Sept 16-17, 2016 - 12th Battle of the Brisket State BBQ Championship
Mission, Kansas
After a year off, the City of Mission is again this year hosting the Battle of the Brisket State Championship.  We expect to accommodate about 50 teams. To enter the contest your team must submit a completed registration form (download a copy of the registration form). This event WILL fill to capacity - contentants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. No spots are held or guaranteed.  The Battle of the Brisket will be held in the parking lot surrounding the Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center, 6200 Martway. Booth space is 25’ x 18’ and each team must be able to fit all of its equipment, cooking devices, tents, etc. into this space.
