Annual Fowler Threshing Days

Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Enjoy delicious homemade tacos, enchiladas, tamales, burritos, and tostadas--it's not unusual to sell over 10,000 items a night. Fiesta activities include a parade, art show, run/walk, carnival, and jalepeno eating contest, as well as banda, norteno, salsa, mariachi and English mainstream music. Good old-fashioned fun at a good old-fashioned fair. It just wouldn't be a fair without a little friendly rivalry between the exhibitors. 4-H’ers and open class exhibitors vie for the grand champion ribbons as they show off their best projects: fashion and flowers, antiques and artwork, crafts and clothing, and of course, some of the best livestock in the State are on exhibit. People of all ages will enjoy some good clean entertainment, eat first-rate food prepared by local cooks, and view some great exhibits. The fairgrounds are shady, the people are friendly, and best of all – the fair is free! July 24-29, 2023 Douglas County Fair - Lawrence, Kansas

National Beef Smokin' Saddles Official Bbq Contest sanctioned by the KCBS (Kansas City Barbeque Society) and Rocky Mountain Barbeque Association. This official cook off is entering its 27th year as the best BBQ contest in Southwest Kansas! Come see some of the best chefs in the West compete for over $15,000 awarded in cash and prizes! ALSO The Annual Barbeque/Backyard Barbeque Contest gives all you backyard cooks out there the opportunity to show off your culinary skills. Follow the delicious aroma of BBQ into Wright Park and stay to see which team takes home the win. Participants will prepare food for judges only. (Dodge City Days runs from July 27 to Aug 6, 2017)
