Experience early Kansas flour milling at the Smokey Valley Roller Mill Museum's annual event. Tour the 100 year old mill in action and learn about farming the old-fashioned way as farmers use horse-drawn equipment to prepare a field for planting. Craft Beer Festival.  Enjoy great beer and food, and learn more about the amazing diversity of beer produced at the local and regional level!

June 21-22, 2024  The Great Lenexa Barbeque Battle - Lenexa, Kansas
The Great Lenexa Barbeque Battle started in 1982 with 12 contestants and 12 judges. On April 27, 1984, Governor John Carlin declared the contest the official Kansas State Championship. Since then, the contest has grown to its current size of 200 contestants and 240 judges.

June 1, 2023  National Festival of Breads - Manhattan, Kansas
THE 2023 EVENT WILL BE VIRTUAL.  Bread. BBQ. The perfect Saturday! The National Festival of Breads is a fun, FREE day for the whole family! Inside the ballroom will be baking demonstrations, eight finalists competing for the title of NFOB champion, a children’s area, bread samples, new recipes and much more!  Outside at the Blue Earth Plaza you’ll find BBQ demonstrations and family friendly activities. For those who are interested in the bread baking competition, entries will be accepted for original yeast bread recipes at nationalfestivalofbreads.com.

June 2-3, 2023  Annual Big Blue River Days - Marysville, Kansas
Big Blue BBQ Championship: Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned with over $10,000 in cash and prizes. Winners in each category--pork ribs, chicken, beef brisket, and pork butt or shoulder., Blues Brews and BBQ, Poker Run, Rib Run, Farmers Market, Community Dessert Contest, Kids Que Grilling Competition, Kids Carnival, Toy Tractor Pull, Car Show, etc.

June 3, 2023  McLouth BBQ Blowout - McLouth, Kansas
The Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned competition is sponsored by the McLouth Recreation Commission. There are kids' rides, petting zoo, remote control airplanes, vendors, and more.

May 8-9, 2020  22nd Annual Lawrence Sertoma 48 BBQ Cookoff
Lawrence, Kansas - EVENT CANCELED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS.
Broken Arrow Park.  We call the Lawrence SERTOMA Cook-off the 48 Bar-B-Q because we limit the competition to 48 teams competing for $4,800 in 48 categories. It’s a BBQ Battle of professionals and amateur cooks to win dollar prizes and ribbons. The public is invited to sample meats prepared for judging in a separate "People's Choice" contest. The event has been sanctioned by KCBS. Our competition is a State Championship, so our Grand Champion winner gets to compete in the American Royal Cook-Off !

June 1-2, 2017 - Farm to Fork Dinner Event - Hays, Kansas
The Farm to Fork Dinner Event will be an evening of fine food, fellowship, and live entertainment. Join us inside the historic Strand Theatre, 1102 Main Street. The meal will be prepared by Gella's Executive Chef, Manuel Hernandez, and feature local ingredients provided by vendors of the Downtown Hays Market.

June 10-11, 2016  Fire on the Frontier BBQ Classic  - Hays, Kansas
Plan on attending the annual KCBS sanctioned BBQ Contest, Fire on the Frontier BBQ Classic.  If you have never competed in Hays, now is the time! Come see for yourself why we continually receive praise for our event organization and hospitality!  The event has a new "fiery feel" to it this year but you should still expect great food, good fun and a heck of a competition!

June 18, 2016  Annual Meatloaf Cook-Off & Festival - Paxico, Kansas
This festival features a meatloaf cook-off, car show, live music, vendors, childrens' games and much more! Come join in the festivities and stroll the historic streets of downtown Paxico.  New events this year include a pie baking contest and outdoor flea market.

June 23, 2016  Project Smoke - Mayetta, Kansas
We at KTWU Television, Topeka, KS would personally like to invite you to a fundraising event, featuring Master smoker, chef, and author Steven Raichlen of PBS programming “Project Smoke.”  He is stopping here in the smoking capitol of Kansas, June 23 – Prairie Band Casino & Resort.  $65 prepaid ticket gets you an autographed copy of his newest cookbook – “Project Smoke, “ and access to a mouthwatering buffet featuring some of his newest recipes! Steven will be there to meet all his biggest fans.
