October 5, 2024 The Great Scarecrow Build-Off & Expo Leesburg, Florida Build your own your scarecrow to represent your family, business, school or organization. Music during the event in the Towne Square. All scarecrows are entered into competition for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the following categories, “City Department”, “Individual/Business” and “Downtown Businesses”, judging will occur in the afternoon. All Scarecrows will be displayed in the Street of Historic Downtown Leesburg through the month of October! We provide all the supplies or you can bring your own.
October 5-6, 2024 Treasure Coast Ribs Wings & Rock Festival Vero Beach, Florida If you are a fan of BBQ Ribs and Chicken Wings, then you cannot miss the Treasure Coast Ribs and Wings Festival on Indian River Fairgrounds. Rounding out this family oriented event, vendors will offer unique merchandise and services, artists and craftsmen will display and sell their original works, live music will entertain on stage all three days, kids will enjoy rides and a kids zone just for them, and local businesses and nonprofit organizations will provide information on services available. October 11, 2024 Annual Stone Crab Eating Contest Marathon, Florida Stone Crab Eating Contest for amateur eaters. Contestants are tasked with cracking and eating 25 succulent stone crab claws, picking them completely clean in the fastest time. Although they are provided with shell crackers, entrants also can smack the shell gently with the back of a large spoon -- Keys residents' secret tool for claw cracking. Prizes for the top three finishers in the crab-consuming contest include two-night vacation getaways, gift certificates from Keys Fisheries Restaurant and a Dolphin Dip encounter at the Dolphin Research Center. Interested eaters are encouraged to register early. Individual participants and two-person teams can enter the test of crab-eating capacity. Fees are $50 per individual entrant and $100 per team. October 11-12, 2024 Annual Taste of the Beach - Pensacola, Florida The Festival kicks off Friday night with a special progressive VIP Dinner that will transport diners to four of the island's best restaurants via trolley. Saturday’s day-long festival will take place October 19, from 10 am to 6 pm.
