April 26-28, 2024  14th Annual Chicken Fried Steak Festival
Lamesa, Texas
The "Legendary Home of the Chicken Fried Steak". The City of Lamesa celebrates this declaration each year on the last weekend of April by having a fun-filled weekend and cook-off competition. This year's CFS Festival kicks off on Friday night with a handmade chicken-fried steak dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a roll.   Saturday's Highlight is the Chicken Fried Steak Cookoff Competition.  Contestants start at 10:00 and must turn in their entry by noon to the Judges table. Festival attendees also get to pick their favorite Chicken Fried Steak.  All winners will announced at 3:00pm.

April 27, 2024  Tatum Pecan Pie Festival - Tatum, Texas
Annual Pecan Pie Festival. The whole idea began with the intention to host a mobile cancer screening center in our town. In order to have a venue for the screening center, a handful of dedicated Tatumites organized the festival. We intend to host the cancer screening center each year. We want to be known as the place to come for the best pecan pies in East Texas and where you can get your annual breast cancer screening. Come out and join us for the fun and food.

16 chefs, a tasting menu and wine pairing from 32 elite wineries.  Multicourse fine dining created around a specific wine varietal for each dish. Live auction of one-of-a-kind experiences & a silent auction of more than 2,000 wines. One of the top 7 galas for the American Heart Association.

April 4-5, 2020  Annual McDonald’s Houston Children’s Festival
Houston, Texas
EVENT CANCELED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS.  RETURNS IN 2021.  The McDonald’s Houston Children’s Festival is the largest children’s festival in the United States!  Two days of games, circus acts, rides, food, beverages, and entertainment for all ages centered in downtown Houston.  Created over 30 years ago by Child Advocates as an avenue to create awareness and funding to help the neglected and abused children of Houston.  Over 5.4 million dollars have been raised for the organization through the annual two days of children activities.

April 22, 2020  Dining Out in Dallas 'Battle of the Chefs' - Dallas, Texas
EVENT CANCELED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS.
Come join the fun as select chefs from the finest Dallas restaurants battle it out to be voted as the crowd favorite.  Dining Out In Dallas is the signature fundraising event for the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation, raising over $2.1 million since 1995.

April 26, 2020  Cochon555: Houston - Houston, Texas
With an all-star cast of chefs who specialize in whole animal cooking paired with farmers responsibly raising delicious heritage breed pigs. The all-inclusive feast will feature a hundred-plus prominent chefs, farmers, sommeliers, distillers, brewers and barkeeps all working in concert to create luxurious moments that educate the palate. At the heart, Cochon555 aims to create moments of inspiration, and to engender discussion and action - to buy, to cook, shop and donate in the name of safe, honest, and delicious food.

Annual Savor Dallas
Dallas, Texas
The Savor Dallas wine and food festival has grown into a renowned wine and culinary extravaganza and has become a signature for the city of Dallas.  It is the ultimate toast to the enticing epicurean culture of the vibrant Dallas landscape. The four-day festival features educational and wine-tasting seminars, wine dinners hosted at premier destinations in the city, the Arts District Wine Stroll and Savor the Arboretum.  The festival culminates on Saturday with an elegant Reserve Tasting of world-class wine, spirits and beer, along with a premier silent auction, followed by the Grand Tasting event.

The Thread Alliance's Blue Plate Special
Houston, Texas
During the month of April 2019, participating Houston restaurants will serve a “blue plate special” to support The Thread Alliance’s fundraiser, the annual citywide child abuse prevention awareness campaign encouraging Houstonians to take action against child abuse and towards healing.  The Thread Alliance, a non-profit organization founded by Sheila Aron, is dedicated to ending the cycle of child abuse.  April is National Child Abuse Prevention month. Participating restaurants will offer guests a “blue plate special” and will donate a percentage or flat dollar amount to The Thread Alliance.

April 13, 2019 - 49th Annual Ranch Day - Lubbock, Texas
Ranch Day is a living history, educational event begun in 1970 at the National Ranching Heritage Center. More than 100 Ranch Hosts and special event participants recreate authentic settings reflective of ranching from the 1780s to the present.

April 17, 2018 - Hops & Hogs 2018 - Houston, Texas
The unique ticketed event is designed to serve the greater Houston Metro area with a fun and a delicious gastronomic culinary experience which also promotes culinary school student scholarships in the alcohol and culinary fields.  This fourth annual event brings together a local brewery, restaurants, chefs and culinary schools to sample their delectable offerings, each with a bacon enhanced twist!

April 27-29, 2018 - Austin Food & Wine Festival - Austin, Texas
Throughout the weekend, you'll experience up-close and personal access to culinary, wine and spirit talent at dozens of cooking demos, wine and cocktail seminars. Between sessions, drop by the Taste or Savor Lounges for complimentary beer, wine and cocktails. Then sip and nibble your way through The Grand Tasting Pavilion showcasing over 80 wine, spirit and artisanal food exhibitors, along with celebrated local and regional restaurants. Plus, pick-up copies of inspiring cookbooks and get them signed by your favorite chefs in the Autograph Tent.  Attendance: 9,000.

April 8-9, 2017  Gluten Free Food Allergy Fest - Austin, Texas

April 21-24, 2016  Annual Texas Bar-B-Q Festival and Cook-Off
Vidor, Texas
Features a barbecue cook-off, vendors, carnival, live entertainment and dancing, classic car show, games and more. Last weekend in April each year.

April 23, 2016  22nd Annual Louisiana Swamp Thing & Crawfish Festival
Buda, Texas
The 23rd Annual Festival wiil be postponed until 2018.  This popular Louisiana themed event features the best in Louisiana cuisine. Enjoy an extensive menu of Cajun seafood. The highlight of the show is 7,000 pounds of jumbo crawfish and other bayou favorites. Entertainment, music.
