July 14-15, 2023 - Copper River Salmon Jam - Cordova, Alaska
An authentic Alaska community, the surprisingly artsy, coastal town of Cordova lives and breathes fishing. Following current CDC recommendations, the Copper River Salmon Jam planning committee is excited to announce a new safe and healthy alternative format for our popular in-person event. This year, the festival will be a week-long event, with Salmon Jam events spread out around Cordova for attendees to participate in at their leisure.

July 28-August 6, 2023  Tanana Valley State Fair - Fairbanks, Alaska
The Tanana Valley State Fair sits in the heart of the Interior of Alaska. It is conveniently located on the edge of Fairbanks, Alaska. Founded in 1924, the Tanana Valley State Fair is the oldest fair in the state. This annual fair is a community gathering point featuring family fun for all, including livestock, games, rides, an amusement park, horse shows, art and crafts, competitive exhibits, quilt shows, giant cabbages, contests and special events, and two outdoor stages with free entertainment daily.  Food Related Special Events:  Bubble Gum Blowing Contest; Freight Dog Pull; Lawnmower Races; Pie Eating Contest; Watermelon Eating Contest -- Food Related Competitive Exhibits:  Mushrooms; Food Preservation; Bake Off; Culinary Capers; Culinary; Agricultural Education; Equine; 4 Livestock; Giant Cabbage; Novelty Vegetables; Vegetables; 4-H.  Many other events and entertainment.
 


 

August 4-6, 2023  48th Annual Blueberry Arts Festival
Ketchikan, Alaska
Thousands celebrate the blueberry in style with an art show, Best Blueberry Dish Contest, Blueberry Pie Eating Contest, contests, Gigglefeet Dance Festival, Trout Fishing in America Poetry Slam and many choices of blueberry cuisine.

August 11-13, 2023  77th Golden North Salmon Derby - Juneau, Alaska
Sponsored by the Territorial Sportsmen, this is the oldest continuous salmon derby in Alaska. Large cash and merchandise prizes are awarded. Proceeds from the derby fund scholarships.

August 12-20, 2023  68th Annual Seward Silver Salmon Derby
Seward, Alaska
The Seward Silver Salmon Derby is one of the oldest and largest fishing derbies in the State.  Anglers vie for the largest Coho (Silver) Salmon and try to catch tagged fish worth prizes. Anglers turn their fish in daily, which are sold to raise funds for fish enhancement efforts.  Heaviest Fish prizes up to $10,000 and Tagged fish up to $50,000!

August 18-20, 2023  29th Annual Alaska Greek Festival
Anchorage, Alaska
Enjoy traditional LIVE Greek Folk music. Watch traditional Greek Folk dancing with performances happening throughout the weekend. Take home a taste of Greece. Hot 'n' Fresh Gyros, Souvlaki, Loukoumades, and pastries will be available for purchase at the Festival. The Taverna (beer garden) will be back this year as well.

August 18-September 4, 2023  Alaska State Fair - Palmer, Alaska
Located in the heart of the Chugach Mountains in the fertile Matanuska-Susitna Valley, the Fair is home to record-setting giant vegetables, grown in the long days of summer when the sun stays out much longer than it does in the lower US. Records include a 138-pound cabbage, 18.9-pound carrot, 39.5-pound broccoli, 39-inch bean, and 1,287-pound pumpkin.  Alaska Seafood Throwdown, Dutch Oven Cook-Off, Beef Throwdown, Moose Calling Contest, etc.  Other attractions include concerts, a rodeo, fair food, Baked Goods, Canning and Livestock exhibits.  Attendance: 290,000

August 28, 2023  17th Annual Alaska’s Midnight Sun Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off - Palmer, Alaska
Alaska State Fair.  Come see these mammoth squash being checked in. Will we break the current state record of 2,147 pounds? Talk with the growers! The Alaska State Fair is an Official weigh-off site for the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth. Contest rules and guidelines will follow those set forth by Alaska State Fair, Great Pumpkin Commonwealth and Guinness World Records.

August 31, 2021  Last Frontier Dutch Oven Cook-off - Palmer, Alaska
Enjoy Black Pot cooking with charcoal all day long as Adult, Amateur, Youth, and Mini teams compete. Three categories include: Main Dish, Bread, and Dessert. Stop by and sample or sign-up online to participate in this fiery event.

August 17-18, 2019 - 12th Annual Alyeska Resort Blueberry Festival
Alyeska, Alaska
Join us for a celebration of the lush blueberry season. This family-oriented outdoors event features FREE live music, berry picking, local arts and crafts booths, tasty blueberry treats, cooking demos, beer and wine garden, hiking and biking, chair massages, pie eating contest, blueberry creations contest and more! Whether you're in the mood for funnel cake or fine art, our local vendors will have what you're looking for.

We will be hosting activities, games, a vendor market, booths, and dock walks all day. The events will start at 9AM and end around 7 PM.  The vision of this festival is to allow locals and visitors to experience and celebrate the fishing culture and heritage that our local economies, palates, and pantries depend on, as well as the unique ecosystems of Southeast Alaska that sustain our fish and families.

July 29, 2017  5th annual Beer & Bacon Festival
Anchorage, Alaska
From 1:00pm - 6:00 pm.  Taste some of Anchorage's best bacon dishes. Live entertainment all day.  Enter to win the annual Bacon Eating Competition.  Additional prizes for best bacon costume and more!  This is Anchorage's premier summer event - don't miss it!!

August 7, 2015  4th Salmon Daze Festival  - Anchorage, Alaska
At the Anchorage Museum Quad!  Salmon Daze is a local event for the City of Anchorage to celebrate one of Alaska’s most valuable resources: Wild Salmon!  Cooking Demonstrations from the chefs at the new pop up restaurant in Downtown Anchorage: Harvest, Salmon Canning Workshops, Fish Pond photo-op, food Vendors & Muse, and Live Music and Beer Garden will be just a few fun events at Salmon Daze. Local art vendors will also be lined up to showcase and sell each of their beautiful pieces.
