Divine Kosher Cuisine: Catering to Family and Friendsby Rise' Routenberg, Barbara WasserThe big surprise in this recipe is the unpeeled orange.Pareve Or Dairy Yield: 12 ServingsIngredients• 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons flour• 1/2 teaspoon salt• 4 teaspoons baking powder• 3/4 cup cornmeal• 3 1/2 tablespoons sugar• 1 orange• 1/2 cup margarine for pareve (use butter for dairy) • 1 large egg • 1 1/4 cups nondairy milk for pareve (use milk for dairy)Directions1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease 9-inch square pan.2. Combine dry ingredients.3. Zebra stripe orange, quarter and seed. See How to Zebra Stripe.4. Process margarine or butter with egg, nondairy milk or milk and orange.5. Add dry ingredients in batches blending only until flour is combined.6. Pour batter into pan. Bake 45 minutes or until tester inserted in center comes out clean.7. Cut bread into squares or triangles. Serve warm.
