Events include collectors' dinner, sanctioned micro-mini pull, auction, Mercy Hospital bazaar and pedal pull for kids. Attendance: 15,000. December 1-3, 2023 Prelude to Christmas at Ackerman Winery Amana Colonies, Iowa A timeless escape during the holiday season. Candle-lit streets, Tannenbaum Forest, Santa, and shopping. December 2, 2023 Norwegian Christmas - Decorah, Iowa Vesterheim National Norwegian-American Museum & Heritage Center. This lively day of events includes Scandinavian holiday traditions, crafts, music, a movie, treats, and more. This annual festival is back with many of the usual traditional activities, but with a new friluftsliv twist! “Friluftsliv is a concept central to Nordic culture. It literally translates as ‘open-air living’ and expresses a Scandinavian passion for nature.
2021 IOWA: November & December 2021 Food & Wine Festivals, Shows & Local Events events waiting for new datesNovember 13-14, 2021 - Holiday Harvest Wine & Food Festival Various, Iowa Start your celebration of the season by enjoying holiday foods and wines on the Great River Road Wine Trail! Each ticket holder will receive a wine trail glass and a six-bottle wine tote at the first winery visited. Their ticket and wine glass will entitle the holder to free wine and food tasting at each winery. You can pay for your ticket at the winery or online, using PayPal. Online purchasers should bring their PayPal receipt to the first winery visited. Plan to enjoy the event for the entire weekend, and visit all nine wineries! Start as far away as you can, and work your way home!! Please have a designated driver (sorry no wine tasting, but a lot of great local food). Designated driver tickets are $15 per person. Enjoy the featured wines and ciders paired with holiday foods, at each of the wineries on the Trail! A portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to Variety, The Children’s Charity. December 7-22, 2019 - Winterfest - Madrid, Iowa Iowa Arboretum. Come and celebrate the best of Iowa-grown Christmas trees at the Iowa Arboretum. Trees are decorated by local clubs, schools, and organizations. December 8, 2018 - Tuba Christmas - Mason City, Iowa The annual Tube Christmas concert will perform favorite Christmas carols with over 100 tubas, baritone, saxophone and euphonium musicians from across the state. Performances will begin at 1p.m. December 21, 2018 Winter Solstice Celebration - Iowa City, Iowa Celebrate the winter solstice with friends and family at the Winter Solstice Festival of Light. The Celebration will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center. Participants can enjoy sipping hot chocolate while making holiday gifts out of natural materials including rustic ornaments, orange and clove pomanders, Tic Tac Toe in a Bag, and much more. The event will conclude with luminary lighting of the Discovery Garden. No fee to participate.
