Discovery Health Hits The Kitchen With Two New Primetime Series To Help Viewers Eat Well
Healthy Recipes, Video Clips and Shopping Tips Available at DiscoveryHealth.com Starting March 2, 2007
It’s time to feel well, be well and eat well! Discovery Health adds two new series to its Be Well Thursday night lineup, featuring two hot chefs with unique approaches to eating and living well. Premiering Thursday, March 29, at 10 and 10:30 PM (ET/PT), respectively, A LYON IN THE KITCHEN and HEALTHY DECADENCE WITH DEVIN ALEXANDER take the mystery out of cooking—from navigating farmers’ markets to making mouthwatering calorie-friendly favorites, hosts Nathan Lyon and Devin Alexander share their secrets to good eats.
In A LYON IN THE KITCHEN, chef Nathan Lyon turns the typical cooking show formula on its head, taking viewers on a gourmet adventure with direct-from-the-source ingredients, and demonstrating that cooking with fresh ingredients doesn’t have to be complicated. Nathan believes great food starts fresh, and the fresher the ingredients, the better the food. He preaches that buying locally grown, seasonal food not only supports one's community but the food tastes better, often costs less, and is even better for the environment. In A LYON IN THE KITCHEN, Nathan shows viewers how to find quality local food sources, from roadside produce stands to hydroponic farms, and then takes them into the kitchen to demonstrate how to create a simple meal from those fresh ingredients. Nathan’s new approach goes beyond the taste buds to eye candy, illustrating how to make the most of presentation and unveiling impeccable culinary displays that are sure to wow your family and friends.
New York Times best-selling author and chef, Devin Alexander, reinvents mealtime favorites in HEALTHY DECADENCE WITH DEVIN ALEXANDER. Devin takes foods like chicken parmesan and chocolate cake and shows viewers how easy it is to make small adjustments to reduce fat and calories without sacrificing flavor. Having maintained a 55-pound weight loss for over 15 years, Devin believes you don’t have
to deprive yourself to be fit and healthy. Viewers watch Devin make over classic meals and desserts while learning her secrets to scrumptious food. For instance, did you know that letting boneless chicken breasts stand after tenderizing and seasoning locks in moisture and reduces the need for oil? Or that adding instant coffee to brownie batter provides a richer chocolate taste without the unnecessary fat or calories? Devin makes healthy eating delicious and fun!
Beginning March 2, viewers will find Nathan and Devin’s useful tips, delicious recipes and exclusive clips online at www.DiscoveryHealth.com. Learn how family influences helped both Nathan and Devin develop their own distinctive culinary styles. Then build your healthy recipe collection with numerous recipes from both chefs. And before turning back to your TV, check out step-by-step instruction clips for recipes featured in both A LYON IN THE KITCHEN and HEALTHY DECADENCE WITH DEVIN ALEXANDER.
Starting Thursday, March 29, viewers can catch A LYON IN THE KITCHEN and HEALTHY DECADENCE WITH DEVIN ALEXANDER every Thursday night at 10 and 10:30 PM (ET/PT), respectively, following GET FRESH WITH SARA SNOW at 8 PM (ET/PT) and THE DAN HO SHOW at 9 PM (ET/PT)—all part of Discovery Health’s Be Well Thursday night lineup. In addition to Thursday nights, A LYON IN THE KITCHEN and HEALTHY DECADENCE WITH DEVIN ALEXANDER will air regularly on Sundays at 11 and 11:30 AM (ET/PT), respectively.
