The Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) is the state tree of West Virginia.

The apple is the official state fruit of West Virginia.

The Golden Delicious apple originated in Clay County, West Virginia. It was a bud sport discovered in 1775 near Wellsburg, West Virginia.
